  1. Re: Carl Denham, Obsessed Film Maker You make a good point and checking back, I notice that you didn't make it a strong disad so I'll concede the point. It's just a pity that his sole good quality is so easily overwhelmed by his bad qualitys. I could see Jack going on a treasure hunt in order to find the funds to buy his way out of trouble again. I doubt he'll ever be trusted in Hollywood again or the States again after the Kong debacle. That's assuming his backers don't forgo the arrest warrant and have somebody shoot him, it might just be me reading a bit to much into things but one of those backers seemed gangster like to me.
  2. Re: Carl Denham, Obsessed Film Maker I'm not so sure on that "I'll share it with all of you" Pysch Lim. Sure he says he'll share it with everybody and says he'll donate the funds to the family members of his crew who died, but if you'll recall he made the same speil for the second guy as he did for the first, apparently forgetting all about the first guy in the process. Also, once they got back to New York it's strongly suggested that Jack wasn't the only guy he left high and dry. Sure he might have offered Anne lots of cash to show up at the Kong show but he seemed quite happy to replace Jack with the movie actor when telling the story of how Anne was rescued. Really the promises to share the wealth seemed more like Carl trying saying what was neccesary to get people to go along with his plans, rather then a genuine desire to share the cash. As for what happened to the guy after the Kong incident, well I suspect all those movie guys will suddenly remember how they want him in jail really quick and that's the least of his worries.
  3. Re: Kong: the movie As I recall, it was meant to represent how the T-Rex species might've changed and adapted had they not died out. At least according to the movie set, as I recall.
  4. Re: Superman's current STR: 365+? Well I recall at one point in the Silver Age [i know it was the Silver Age because Captain Marvel was still on Earth S], Black Adam was accidentally teleported to Earth 1 and fought the Silver Age Superman. Not only was the fight equal but Black Adam was manhandling Supes, to the point where Supes had to recreate the accident that caused Black Adam to be teleported from Earth S [with the help of a non-powered Billy Batson from Earth 1, who was a fan of Captain Marvel's comicbook] in order to bring over Captain Marvel to help him stop Black Adam. That would seem to suggest some parity between Supes and the Marvels.
  5. Re: Opinion: EuroStar But who goes first is determined by speed, not ego.
  6. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Yes but the not against unarmoured targets limitation on that NND comes into play. Is a person who has a forcefield unarmoured? In my opinion I'd say no.
  7. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Technically how does the forcefield not stop her darts? That's the part I'm confused about. After all, stopping projectiles is what forcefields do.
  8. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Which is the reason I don't use Menton much and hardly ever use PSI. Either that or it's my Psychological Disad: Despise Mind Control and most stories which involve it, acting up again. One of the two.
  9. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Ummm, because she's got a big forcefield up and is thus not unarmoured? Hey I may not like Gravitar but even I have to admit dart vs force field pretty much always works out in favour of the force field.
  10. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Well OF COURSE they do Chuck, why else would they be talking about it? In all seriousness though, if I GM'd a game myself I'd only power them up slowly as the superteam in my game was powered up and then only to keep them as a threat to my heroes. Every campaign needs a big bad or two and Eurostar is as good as any.
  11. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Or you could get REALLY nasty and have Der Westgote teach Durak his brick tricks. Just picture the looks on the characters faces when Durak busts out that rending and tearing attack.
  12. Re: Opinion: EuroStar HECK NO, I've had enough of versus arguements thank you very much. As for the cheesyness of elevating the power level of each member, so long as they don't spontaneously become powerful enough to make Superman soil his tights at the mere thought of facing them then it's ok. To be more precise, so long as thier power level increases in relation to that of the players I don't think there is a problem. This of course assumes that the GM in question wants to keep Eurostar a challenge to the characters, rather then just letting the characters get powerful enough to effortlessly wipe the floor with Eurostar. That said, more members is good too. See what I said in an earlier post regarding the recruitment of Pantera and her Daddy.
  13. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Hmmm, fair enough Chuck. However I don't think they could be the same sort of implants as Fiacho's. After all he's no prize to look at and with her Vain disad she might not go along with it so easy. Though lacking any other options it seems like a good idea. Not saying I dislike the cybernetics idea but she's not stable as it is, who knows what might happen if she loses her looks? Somebody else in this thread mentioned turning Eurostar into an actual orginization. I personally think this is a tad obvious for Fiacho. He'd use followers certainly but if he was running an orginization he'd do it secretly so that heroes and law enforcement would only realise they were dealing with Eurostar when it was too late. In fact I see him having one or two such orginizations on the go. Naturally Fiacho and Der Westgote would be increasing thier contacts and UltraSonique would be expanding his abilities and his gadget pool. For that matter perhaps Fiacho and Scorpia actually get a gadget pool, to represent all the equipment Eurostar is meant to have? If they do bring Pantera back, I hope they also bring in her father as well. The man IS a master geneticist after all and adds even more options to the team. Perhaps HE could upgrade Scorpia? That's all I got at the moment.
  14. Re: Opinion: EuroStar I suppose any attempt to return this thread to what it originally was will be ignored? Ah well, I'll give it a try anyway. Please people can we bring this thread back to it's original topic which, as I recall, was a discussion of how Eurostar could be improved/powered up? Pretty please?
  15. Re: Opinion: EuroStar I read page 80 and while it does say the person attacked would know the source of the attack and the nature of the attack, I don't think that means what you think it means Massey. Too my interpretation that means she'd know that Mentalla attacked her and what she used to attack her with [Ego Blast or Mind Control given the discussion so far but could be any of Mentalla's mental powers] but Gravitar would still have to go looking for Mentalla. Of course she has a decent PER- roll, so that might not be that difficult for her. Still, my point is the rule is open to interpretation.
  16. Re: Opinion: EuroStar You make a good point sir, though wether it will actually end this argument is debatable. Still rep to you for bringing it up.
  17. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Particularly if she has to fend off the rest of Eurostar at the same time. Gravitar might have a decent SPD but she's not omniscient, she can only concentrate on so many things at once.
  18. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links.
  19. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Since I have no wish to continue this nonsense with Chuck, consider me stepped back.
  20. Re: Opinion: EuroStar That's not what it says in the description of the power itself. It clearly says there that the first breakout roll comes the first phase after mind control is established and the mind control is in effect untill the breakout roll is successful. Unless of course you're talking about the roll to resist being mind controlled in the first place? Could we possibly be confused as to what constitutes a breakout roll?
  21. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links. Given what little I know about Mr. Moto, I'd go with he doesn't know. He seems far to scrupulous to not care about that sort of atrocity.
  22. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Right Chuck, don't listen to anything I'm actually saying. Eurostar's not allowed to act competently because ChuckG sayeth so, they may not use any of thier considerable tactical skill because ChuckG sayeth so, they might not fight in an intelligent manner because ChuckG sayeth so. Only characters ChuckG likes are permitted to have any sort of advantage in a fight or try to gain an advantage. Feel free to ignore the point I was trying to make, which is that there are myriad ways Eurostar could get around the power advantage that Gravitar has in order to defeat her.
  23. Re: Opinion: EuroStar No, according to the rules she gets her breakout roll the first phase after the Mind Control is established. She also remains under the influence of the Mind Control untill she does make her breakout roll. So if Gravitar were acting normally and Mentalla succeeded in mind controlling her to keep acting normally [for the sake of example, let's say she's shopping] the Gravitar would act normally [in this case shopping] untill the Breakout roll is made. The breakout roll does not prevent her from following the command, at least not as the power is worded in the rulebook. As for the poisoned dart, in the scenario I postulated Eurostar was trying to set up a situation wherein Scorpia could throw the dart from surprise before Gravitar realised she was under attack. If it was successful, the poisoned dart would've hit an unprotected Gravitar and thus effected her. I realise it wouldn't have gotten through her forcefield otherwise.
  24. Re: Name that Nazi! Well if you wanted a pair of weather controllers you could call them Sturm und Drang. Well actually that means Storm and Urge [i just checked it with Babelfish] so I guess one would be a weather controller and another a mind controller? Nacht und Nebel, translates as Night and Fog, would be fairly good names for assassins. That would be from Hitler's Night and Fog decree [think that was what it was called, got it out of 4ED Golden Age Champions] concerning spies.
