  1. Re: Opinion: EuroStar You mean to say Chuck, that my arguement will never hold up because you will keep altering the facts to suit you?
  2. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Gotcha! She does so have the disad of Megalomania, I know this because I LOOKED AT HER WRITE-UP NOT MORE THEN FIVE MINUTES AGO! So who was rewriting character's sheets to suit thier own needs again?
  3. Re: Opinion: EuroStar And as per usual you aren't bright enough to realise that you're looking in a mirror when you called it. I'm not calling for Gravitar to act stupid, I'm calling for her to be PLAYED THE WAY HER DISADS INDICATE she should be played. You on the other hand have given Gravitar every sort of advantage and everytime somebody tries to point that out to you, you ignore it. Trolling we have called, trolling we have found. PLONK!
  4. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Which completely ignores the fact that due to her megalomania, she views herself to be above normal people, a veritable goddess in fact. Her thought process is less likely to be "I'd better be careful lest somebody find out my secret identity" as opposed to "no mere mortal could possibly figure out that I am Gravitar." On top of that she's overconfident. She may be smart but with the size of her ego how likely is it that she's going to be worrying that others might be smart enough to thwart her? Yes, her intelligence is a strength, however her megalomania and overconfidence taken together far overshadow that strength.
  5. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Yeah right, totally unreasonable because after all megalomaniacs who are also overconfident NEVER EVER make mistakes or foul up. I've made another post outlining how Fiacho could indeed have discovered Gravitar's secret ID, with no deck stacking or anything like that. Simply using the strengths of Eurostar, which ChuckG will proceed to ignore and taking advantage of the weaknesses of Gravitar, which ChuckG will also proceed to ignore. Also, if Eurostar was in disguise and/or hiding how would Gravitar realise she was being snuck up on? Also at what point did I say that Gravitar was completely helpless. Yes I'm assuming that Mentalla's mind control attempt would work [because if she hits her EGO drain, which is ranged and follows it up with her Mind Control, Gravitar's EGO could be sufficiently reduced] but I never said that she couldn't break out of it. However if the ambush went off without a hitch, Gravitar would be in trouble which was my entire point with the post.
  6. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Also, between her megalomania and her overconfidence I find it hard to belive that Gravitar is stable enough to maintain a secret ID in the first place. I'd imagine the only reason UNTIL hasn't cracked it already is because they have a million other things to do and aren't really capable of putting a dedicated taskforce out for every single villain in the world. Eurostar on the other hand is reasonably dedicated to thier vengence and Fiacho has Deduction at 14-. Also, if Westgote's contacts are powerful ones [his character sheet simply says he has 30 points of contacts in the European and American underworlds, so obviously he's only as well connected as the GM wants him to be but logically he'd have at least one or two high placed contacts] they'd have a LOT of influence. To say nothing of the contacts possessed by Fiacho himself. Now assuming these people aren't happy about having an awesomely powered gravity controlling superbeing prone to temper tantrums wandering about [can't imagine that's good for thier business] wouldn't it stand to reason they'd lend a hand in getting rid of her? All Eurostar has to do is get enough information to justify a Deduction roll by Fiacho, if he makes it they've pierced her Secret ID. That's not even factoring in Mentalla's Mindscan or Telepathy abilities.
  7. Re: Opinion: EuroStar So remember folks, it's only fair when ChuckG stacks the deck in favour of his favourites, after all it's not like his scenario doesn't start with "Gravitar always gets to attack first, Eurostar doesn't get to move or even contemplate taking advantage of Gravitar's weaknesses and Gravitar never makes a single mistake." So to reiterate, my response was a well thought out reasonable scenario wherein Eurostar could take out Gravitar. It showed how Mentalla could use her mind control to take advantage of Gravitar's personality and use of Eurostar's strengths. The deck was not stacked [many things could alert Gravitar to Eurostar's presence, unlike Chuck G I'M not assuming my faves are infallible.] Chuck G's response was, essentially: LALALALALALALALALALA!! I'M NOT LISTENING TO YOU, I'M ALWAYS RIGHT! LALALALALALALALALALALA!!
  8. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Only because all your scenarios don't have Eurostar actually using thier brains Chuck. Things might go badly for them if they try and rushing her head on but since when have Eurostar been that stupid? Given the fact that Gravitar is a super powered party girl and the fact that Der Westgote has a large number of criminal contacts, it shouldn't be too difficult for Eurostar to find out where she's partying at any given time. Thus next part she's at Mentalla, from hiding, gives Gravitar the Mind Control command "Keep partying as if there was nothing wrong." This is something Gravitar is inclinded to do anyway and thus should get a bonus for the Mind Control attempt, particularly if Mentalla used her EGO Drain first. At this point it's simple for the rest of Eurostar to come out of hiding [or swoop in in the case of Feurmacher] and blast her with thier most powerful attacks while under the mind control. Fiacho's Micro-Flechette Launcher: 1D6 RKA, AP, Autofire and Penetrating. Feurmacher's Melting Blast: 3d6 RKA Scorpia's Curare Tipped Darts: 4d6 RKA NND Ultrasonique's Sonic Blast: 15D6 EB or his Ultrasonic Blast: 9D6 EB AP All of Eurostar has the Teamwork skill, so such a combined attack isn't too difficult for them to pull off. As you can see, while Gravitar might have the advantage in a straight up fight, Eurostar's sneakiness can take her out.
  9. Re: Opinion: EuroStar Either that or Sonique built her a device that conceals her mutant nature for her, so that Eurostar is less easily detected. Given Eurostar's scientific knowledge there are any number of ways she could've bought off that particular disad.
  10. Re: Opinion: EuroStar And it's quite easy to do, now that I think on it. Sure Gravitar got the drop on Mentalla in open combat, even a powerful psi is easy to take out when you control gravity after all, she may not be so lucky if Mentalla gets the drop on her. After all, I'm sure Eurostar has the resources to figure out Gravitar's regular schedule and once that schedule is discovered it would be no problem at all for Mentalla to alter Gravitar's personality untill she was Eurostar's most loyal member.
  11. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links. Well you make a good point, the both of you. However if the swami in question had any sort of legit telepathic powers or even empathic powers and is as moral as Oddhat claimed in his example then the sheer hatred he'd be picking up from Nazi leaders ought to scare the living crap out of him. However, I admit that is a most exceptional case. Another thought is that maybe he's playing along with the Nazi's, only pretending that he's working with them in order to use his abilities to bring them down from the inside.
  12. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links. Or he joins one of the anti-Nazi resistance movements BECAUSE Germany is the country that he loves and he doesn't want to see it run by murderer and lunatics like the Nazis. Just a thought.
  13. Re: Inner-Earth Update You must post more information about this if you wish me to rep you.
  14. Re: Opinion: EuroStar He's in The Ultimate Brick, I belive.
  15. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links. Did he have a beautiful female sidekick named Daphne?
  16. Re: Sun Koh, the Nazi Doc Savage. Character and links. Don't suppose you have a linky for that page? Are we even allowed to post such links here?
  17. Re: The World of Kong Naw, they just got cocky and overconfident. They flew in and saw Kong and thought "Aww it's just a big ole ape, he ain't all that" and thus underestimated Kong, resulting in the death of one of thier number.
  18. Re: Who Would be Your Character's Sidekick? Well at the moment Avalon's preferred sidekick would be somebody who can help her get her powers and body back. In more ideal circumstances she'd probably team up with somebody who was a fighter or brick. That way they'd cover each other's weaknesses. If Twilight went for a sidekick, he'd probably go for a street kid he could train up like his mentors did with him.
  19. Re: A Funny Thing Happened When I Read About The Sylvestri Clan... I noticed, chuckled, and moved on.
  20. Re: Reviewing Teen Champions (& Ravenswood Academy) I don't think the book was nearly as bad as you seem to Kirby. While it's clearly not as good as Viper: Coils of the Serpent, Villainy Amok or Pulp Hero it certainly doesn't sink to the depths of European Enemies as you seem to think it does. My apologies if I've misread your statements. Granted the Playpals are horrid and the origin for that one villainess is dopey even by comicbook standards [a teenaged star? WTF?], I for one had no trouble with the Ravenwood Academy or it's students. For starters there is no thousand year plus relationship with Atlantis because the school is at most 20 to 30 years old and the 'relationship' seems to consist of the Ravenswood kids losing at the Atlantean national sport. As for the school staying secret well technically it's not as everybody knows it's a school for wealthy children and the superpowered kids are a very small portion of the school body. As for the teachers who used to be superheroes, I never got the impression that they were 'big time' heroes. Well respected by thier peers perhaps but it's not like Superman or Green Lantern retiring to teach at a school it's more like El Aguila or B'wana Beast becoming school teachers. Sure people could find out about thier superhero past if they wanted too but they were never important enough to the general public for it to be a big deal. Remember Public ID means a character's name and location can be found easily, it does NOT mean that the character's life and history and everything else are public knowledge. None of the teachers have the Social Limitation: Famous after all. Also, I don't find it curious at all that no villainous alumnis of the school have ratted it out, after all what would they gain? Nothing except more heroes pissed off at them. I liked the Motor City Defenders for the most part, though Cantrip seemed to annoy me for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. I do like her look though. Nova was ok but way to heavy on the teen angsty for my liking Generation VIPER and Sai appealed to me as villains the other villains in the book mostly did not. The optional subplot involving the fireweilding kid that died was ignored. Remember it's only 'canon' if YOU want it to be.

  22. Re: The Treasure of Emperor Qin Well I'd call working a bunch of people to death, deliberately doing it to be precise, a form of murder which gets us into all sorts of thorny arguments about the definition of murder. Can we at least agree that none of these people are very nice and we'd just as soon not see them come back in any form let alone that of a living dead creature? Though of course if we're talking Vlad Tepes aka Dracula, it may be already too late for certain pulp games.
