  1. Re: Vehicle: BEWEGLICHE FESTUNG (Mobile Fortress) Comments? Comments?! It's a Nazi AT-AT, what other comment could I possibly make then THAT IS SO *CENSORED* COOL! Seriously, if I can manage it I'm SO working one of these into my Golden Age game.
  2. Re: Villain ideas. [Related to Golden Age thread.] Oh he'll have the scar because he appears in public as the German Ambassador to the US, when he's doing the mastermind thing he always makes sure his face is covered and uses his acting skills to cover his accent. He's tricky like that.

  4. Re: Villain ideas. [Related to Golden Age thread.] It has been awhile since I mentioned my Golden Age game, but with Pulp Hero coming out soon and Fires of War: The Algernon Files being released along side it it seems like a good idea to revisit it. Professor Peril and Co are dusting off thier work togs and the Professor is polishing his saber, gleefully awaiting the reinforcements Fires of War shall provide them. Soon, soon my players shall quiver in terror at what I might unleash upon them.
  5. Re: Tacky, tacky, tacky !!!! Which won't work at all if they think he's a heathen snake who should be lynched.
  6. Re: Golden Age Champions Your game intrigues me Hawksmoor and I wish I could join. Does it have superintelligent gorilla villains who ally with the Nazis despite being blatantly opposite the Aryan ideals the Nazis belived in? I mean really those comic book Nazis would team up with anybody, that's part of the fun.
  7. Re: Fires of War: The Algernon Files Vol II-- first HERO system preview A little underpowered yeah, but we don't know what sort of villains he usually goes after. For most of the superpowered baddies he's underpowered sure but if he's just going after normal gangsters and such then he's sufficiently powerful to kick much tail. That's just my opinion of course.
  8. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Ok, my bad for misunderstanding what you were saying.
  9. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!!
  10. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Where do you get $60.00 from? When I looked through the information on the site the only prices listed were around $25.00.
  11. Re: Golden Age Champions Or, if your players are so inclined you can retain the goofiness and just work around it. After all just because it was goofy doesn't mean it was bad, which is not to say that AA's take on things is wrong either. Either point of view can work if that's what the players and GM want. Me I kind of like a mixture of the two. I mean I do like the lighthearted Golden Age goofiness in moderation but I appreciate a good serious story too. A few adventures with our heroes slogging through occupied France to aid the Resistance against the Nazi hordes and Vichy French traitors can be great fun, but sooner or later I'll want some goofy stuff like Nazi werewolves or superintelligent SS gorillas to show up as well. Yes reading in Hidden Lands that Mole Men battled alongside the Nazi's brought a smile to my face from the sheer silliness of it. No one way is the right way there's room enough for something like Dr. Anomaly's game and the likes of Professor Peril and Frau Doktor Veronica Von Frankenstein as well.
  12. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Have I mentioned I can't wait for these books to come out? Just looking over the stuff for Fires of War alone makes me shiver in anticipation. Considering that the stuff in Pulp Hero is undoubtedly as good as this and the stuff we already know about the Champions Universe Pulp/Golden Age era one could cobble together an awesomely fun campaign just from that.
  13. Re: Everyman - What Do *You* Want To See? Agreed totally Fenris and rep to you. Just give us every character in Normals Unbound, plus a few extra if you like and we'll be deleriously happy.
  14. Re: Tacky, tacky, tacky !!!! It's defined on his character sheet as a Psychological Limitation so as I understand the rules, he could indeed get over it if he was sufficiently motivated. Your ideas for him would indeed work but in any campaign I'd use him in, his first ten experience points would go towards buying off that particular disadvantage. Oh and for the record I didn't say he was Republican, I just said that in recent years the Republicans played up to the Christian Community to thier great advantage in recent years. Bush is still President and the Republicans have most of the seats in the senate if I'm not mistaken. For them it was a great tool to solidify thier power, so logically it could be used as a great tool against Invictus should his views on Christianity become public.
  15. Re: Tacky, tacky, tacky !!!!
  16. Re: Tacky, tacky, tacky !!!! I'd say his 'Hates Christianity' disad would be a bigger barrier to his gaining success as a politician then his costume. After all the Republicans have had remarkable success by playing to the Bible Belt set and that disad could cause a massive backlash against Invictus. If I used him in a campaign I'd remove that disad.
  17. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! I can see why, just from what I've read in this thread about them it looks like some brilliant stuff. What I've seen so far has me practically drooling in anticipation for the two Algernon Files books and I hope there's going to be a HERO version of Critical Security Update #1 as well.
  18. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Well I'll definetly be buying any HERO books these guys put out, they're stuff sounds simply awesome. Not that the regular HERO books aren't awesome, they are [though DEMON was far to creepy for me to actually enjoy, the author of it should try his hand at writing horror novels] but I'm simply loving some of the concepts I'm seeing here. Ok I'm loving ALL of the concepts I'm seeing here, I'd start a campaign just to use them in it [altered to fit with the Champions setting] and I'm not even particularly fond of GMing.
  19. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! But we will eventually get HERO stats for Morgan Le Fey and Kostchei right, and the others in the Parliment of Shadows? Not that what you've listed isn't cool but it would be criminal not to flesh out that background. They do have stats for Frau Doktor Veronica von Frankenstein right?
  20. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Well I'm a sucker for Arthurian myths so the presence of Le Fay makes me very happy to begin with and the addition of Kostchei the Deathless from Russian myth is simply awesome if you're into mythology like I am. For me the loose orginization of mystic menaces with lots of spying and political maneuvering is far more interesting then the cult trying to destroy everything. Of course I found DEMON to be incredibly creepy and couldn't continue reading the book after a couple of chapters, so I'm most definetly biased here.
  21. Re: The Algernon Files come to Hero!!! Whoa, I need to get this just for the Parliment of Shadows. I mean really stats for Kostchei the Deathless and Morgaine Le Fey alone are worth the price of the book, in my opinion they have it all over DEMON in almost every respect.
  22. Re: Does Seeker still suck? Yes indeed he was and any Galactor agent with half a brain would be right to fear him, considering he's quite happy to off them with those feather shuriken of his. Not to mention the guns.
  23. Re: Your Character's Comic Book Twilight would insist that his comic be drawn by Alex Ross and, time permitting, would even pose for some of the covers himself. The writer would have to be Kurt Busiek and Twi would take steps to keep Mark Waid as far from his comic as humanly possible.
  24. Re: Your character's theme song would be? Yes it is, a most superheroic piece of music if I ever heard one.
  25. Re: Real world Pulp characters Maybe it's just the wrestling fan in me and I'm not sure if he fits the time line or not but I'm thinking Lionel Conacher fits the pulp character mold. In his lifetime he was: an undefeated boxer, a popular pro wrestler of his era, a world class lacrosse player, a Hall of Fame hockey player, a Hall of Fame football player and if the Blue Jays or Expos had existed back then he'd probably have been a Hall of Fame baseball player too. Later went on to be very successful in politics as well, if I'm not mistaken.
