  1. Re: The Treasure of Emperor Qin The Great Wall of China isn't merely a former defensive fortification, it's also a giant tombstone for all the people who died working on it who's bodies were tossed into the pits so construction wouldn't slow down. Emperor Qin was responsible for all that and considering the Great Wall is so long that it's visible from outer space, I'd say it's more then 100,000 people dead. Plus all the ficitional evil you can name doesn't mean squat compared to an atrocity that really happened.
  2. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Well to the best of my knowledge there's been a lot of stuff with Fu Manchu in it. Stands to reason that it can't all be good.
  3. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu I personally disagree, but of course YMMV. I just feel the character must have been more then that or else he wouldn't have inspired so many imitators. I mean two dimensional villains simply don't inspire imitations with such prestige as Ming the Merciless or R'as al Ghul and yes, HERO's own Yin Wu. Some of Fu Manchu's lesser copies [and I'm fairly sure there were millions of these] might've been aimed at the lowest common denominator but Fu himself was something more.
  4. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Well if Dr. Fu Manchu could work with non-Chinese [and he did, his dacoits, phansigars and thugs were all from India. He used Nubian wrestlers as bodyguards and had Persian assassins as shock troops as I recall] then why not Dr. Yin Wu?
  5. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Fair enough. I suppose Boxers and Thugs are more appropriate to the Pulp era anyway, most of them would've been killed off by the modern era though I suppose he'd still have thier decendents. What would you say to him working with Chinese rebels or the folks in Taiwan?
  6. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu So you would dispense with the Thugs and Boxers then Trencher?
  7. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Another thought. It almost goes without saying that Yin Wu has human servants in addition to his sons, offspring born in the usual manner and his summoned monsters but what type of human servants would he have? He's the closest thing the Champions Universe has to a Fu Manchu clone but does that mean his crew are going to be exactly like the Si Fan are? What servants would YOU give him?
  8. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Online. I googled Moghur and checked the site that seemed to be most relevant to what you wanted. There were other sites there but they didn't seem to be referring to the mythical Mongolian dragon.
  9. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Incidentally all that I could find out about the dragon Moghur was that it was fearsome in countenance, and that only the bravest could look upon it. Also, it was said to be able to poison you just by looking at you. Other then that, I got nothing.
  10. Re: Thoughts on Dr Yin Wu Why go with just one daughter? This guys been around for what, centuries? Surely he's had more then one kid in all that time. After all his offspring should be the best source of named henchpeople before you run into Yin Wu himself. That's after encountering his legions of assassins, summoned oriental monsters etc.
  11. Re: An A-team for the 21st Century No way, Michael Clarke Duncan is the perfect BA Baracus.
  12. Re: Ghostbusters HERO Nice write ups so far. However I do think that Ray and Egon's rolls for Paranormal Science/Parapsychology should be higher then Peter's are. Peter earned his doctorate sure but Ray and Egon clearly know far more about it then he does.
  13. Re: Marvel Horror Heroes As I recall Dracula's stories did connect to those of the larger Marvel Universe now and then, though not really on to much of a regular basis. He did encounter the X-Men as you mentioned and also had a run in or two with the Silver Surfer if I'm not mistaken. He showed up in a Spidey story I'm pretty sure though he never actually faced off with the wall crawler. Dr. Strange of course encountered Drac the most.
  14. Re: DC's turn toward the dark And Waid's 'Unthinkable' storyline in Fantastic Four doesn't give me a whole lot of hope either. If anything it's making me more wary, though I shall give the man benefit of a doubt.
  15. Re: teen champions question Johns run didn't end, Liefeld's stint on Titans was just a fill in, that's all.

  17. Re: The Empire Club: recruiting drive! Indy is a shoo in for the club I'd say as is his father. After all when you need an archeological mission to be done there's none better then the inestimable Mr. Jones. Though I do second the nomination of the O'Connels as they're pretty good in the archeological area themselves and somebody who can beat an immortal evil like Imhotep is somebody to have around! I could see Hercule Poirot being a member, though I'm not sure if those stories are set in the right time period. Private detective Sam Spade also seems like a natural to be a member. Lionel Conacher, Canada's greatest athlete, I think would be an excellent member of the Empire Club. Possibly not to helpful in the mental arena but when it comes to fisticuffs Lionel, an undefeated boxer and wrestler among other things, would come in mighty handy.
  18. Re: The Grand meeting of Superheroes: The Nexus Justin is initially overwhelmed by the sheer amount of technology he's encountering here at the Nexus. Being a MAJOR tech geek he's basically in nerd-vana for a moment or two and likely to get overlooked by the assembled heroes in the beginning. Eventually however he'll begin showing his intelligence as he tries to lend a hand in the conflict. He'll gravitate to the super intelligent guys [Mr. Fantastic, Iron Man, Beast], the major gadget guys [blue Beetle, Batman, Jack in the Box] and the types who tend to use thier brains more often [Macguyver.] In the beginning he'll be an underrated threat by the enemy but once he gets his hands on some of the tech around him he'll be a full on power armour fighter with surprising versatility, though probably not in the top tier of heroes, at least not in this crowd. I can see him falling for somebody like Spider Girl and he'd become good friends with Montgommery Scott, as Justin is the only one who thinks the Enterprise is more wonderful then he does. Megan is a powerful psionic who hasn't acheived her full potential yet. During the conflict she will reach that potential and then some. At first she'll survive due to the friends she makes, I see her becoming good friends with the likes of Mary Marvel and Supergirl among others, but eventually the assembled telepaths will discover how much potential she has and seek to bring it out in her. With tutors like Professor X, Martian Manhunter, and Mr. Spock she cannot help but become very talented with those skills. Of course just as eventually Master Yoda will tell her 'strong with the Force you are' and proceed to train her as a Jedi. Needless to say, Megan is pretty badass by the time she's finished. Avalon is likely in the thick of things with her parents, displaying the fighting skills she learned with her friends. She'd take this opportunity to hang out with all the mystical types in order to buff up her magical skills. No time like the present after all and with Dr. Strange, Dr. Fate, Jon Constantine, Willow, Sakura and various others about it's a foolish wizard indeed who doesn't take this type of opportunity. Albion would likely have a torrid romance with Wolfsbane, Tigra and a few others. I could see him hanging out with the Thundercats as Albion's powers are catlike himself and working with Lynxo would definetly improve his senses and such, though he would have a big [though friendly] rivalry with the Thunderkittens. Also being a martial artist however he'd pick up moves from anybody who'd teach him, particularly really badass guys like Shang Chi, Val Amourr and Richard Dragon.
  19. Re: Villain ideas. [Related to Golden Age thread.] Anybody know if Pulp Hero and Fires of War are out yet?
  20. Re: Preview: Evergreen Oni is 700 points. Scorpion is 400 points. Evergreen is 450 points. If the rest of the characters in this book are similar, perhaps running my Pulp/Golden Age Champions game on 350 points would be a good idea after all?

  23. Re: Vehicle: BEWEGLICHE FESTUNG (Mobile Fortress) Comments? Comments?! It's a Nazi AT-AT, what other comment could I possibly make then THAT IS SO *CENSORED* COOL! Seriously, if I can manage it I'm SO working one of these into my Golden Age game.
