  1. Not to mention that Doom is FF based and known for that, even before the movies ruined him. Zemo is, in the comics world, a long time enemy of Cap. Why wouldn't you use what was already developed. Granted, I had no chance to see the series, but would be great if they used the series (though given most series predilection for killing villains, unlikely) to setup the Masters of Evil.
  2. so a double reverse in side a held perimeter retcon. first, miscarriage so no babies, then a kidnapping.
  3. The thing that annoys me is that DC had been well on their way to doing a good job of the Legacy thing. Kyle had replaced Hal, with some really good stories. Wally had replaced Barry. Roy had replaced Oliver. They didnt replace the "big 3" though Dick could have replaced Bruce and they had replaced the Robins. Barring her retro'd screwed up history, Donna could have replaced Diana at some point, but wasn't needed as both Diana and Superman were long lived. As mentioned above, Atom and Blue Beetle had been replaced pretty well. Then writers decided they wanted to do Hal, Oliver and Barry stories, so they were brought back. In bringing back Oliver, they even played on it where he was in the JL satellite and Kyle and Wally were there and he was asking if everyone was replaced. If this was some alternate universe or something.
  4. My brother was watching one of LSU's softball games and got annoyed with the substitution rules. Apparently, in the game he watched they were the visiting team, their starting 3 outfielders all batted in the first inning. then all 3were taken out for defensive replacements. 2 innings later, one is put back in to hit, an inning later the other 2 would bat, so take the subs out, put the starters back in. so in a total of 6 innings, those 3 hitters had 11 at bats and played a combined 5 innings of defense (that is combined out of 18 possible) and only 1 inning together (which would count for 3 of those, and the other 2 played together one inning). So really, what you had was 3 DHs for the defensive outfielders, as the 3 girls were all subbed out for the 6th and 7th. If I were the 3 defensive girls, I would be annoyed that you thought so little of my offense you wouldn't let me hit.
  5. hmm, where does Trout and his 10 avg WAR go. I once heard the announcers from Oakland ask if there was a league he could move up to now so he would stop playing them. He may have to take Ohtani with him, who, mostly healthy now, is much watch baseball, maybe more then anyone else. He is outshining Trout, who may be having his best year ever.
  6. i have heard he was unhappy with not being in lineup yesterday and that came from the gm's office, not joe maddon. I really hope it is not ending on a bad note, as he has always seemed very classy. He was always going in the hall as a cardinal, and rightly so, but i really hope there is no animosity.
  7. Finally getting around to catching up on my tv shows, so starting Superman and Lois. Do they address the fact this is like 14+ YEARs after the previous Supergirl season? The 2 children, that they went to Argo to have so that Clark could be normal during it, and therefore the kids, were born during one of the last 2 seasons and now they are teenagers?
  8. That was the 2nd one I was talking about, especially as the runner was on the grass and not in the base line. The MLB guys were more annoyed that the umpire in question, after the game, basically said he reviewed the tape and the pitcher interfered with the runner 100%. So he doubled down on a terrible call. Basically, their opinion was the pitcher should have waited until he ran by him and then throw it at his back.
  9. The problem was, on the same day in the Cubs game iirc, exact same thing except runner didnt actually hit the SS, touched the bag and was called for interference. They changed the rule a few years back to say the runner needs to be going straight to the bag, if possible. on the Iglesias one, he did veer slightly out to take him out. As to the phantom swipe of 2nd, that players have done for year, it seems the only time replay is consistent and gets correct (if you want to not have it). Funnily, the rule about going straight to the bag was changed due to the began with a play that the runner did go straight to 2nd, but slid late to intentionally take out the SS behind the play. I think it involved the Dodgers and was in the playoffs a few years back. no, but there are clearly defined lanes for running up first, especially the last 30 feet or so, and the inside part of that is the foul line. I have no problem when the runner is running up the grass, about a foot and a half inside that line, and is called for interference (which, while we are mentioning was not called in a game 2 days ago). But Walsh was literally running up the chalkline. Greinke threw it at his back intentionally and then told umpire to call it.
  10. I guess they keep stats on umps, like everyone else. My brother was saying in the Ranger/Angel game last night, the umpire gets left handed pitchers right like 99% of the time, but on right handers is less then 90% (calling balls as strikes). It showed. The Ranger pitcher, Foltynewicz - a righty, was getting his slider called about a baseball and a half outside for a strike, but Quintana, a lefty was only if within the plate. My problem with this type of call, off the plate, is it affects the hitter. You could see guys like Fletcher and Rendon (both great at plate discipline) swinging at pitches off the plate. I would also add another couple, vs Angels. Greinke threw a squibber by Walsh and hit Walsh in the back, on purpose - you could see him afterward. They called interference on Walsh despite the fact he was running with his feet hitting the CHALK LINE. you can't challenge it. So instead of 1st and 3rd, 1 out and run in, was now 2 outs and men on 2nd and 3rd. Pujols flew to deep left, so that call cost 2 runs. Then go back to the 2nd base slide that caused Iglesias to get an error (2 on play actually as he apparently missed 2nd with his foot) as the runner slid out and took him out. Same day, Cubs game, in a play where the runner didnt hit the ss, they called runner interference.
  11. So, Mike Trout was 4 for 5 with 2 RBIs in return from injury and he was the secondary story of the night as Ohtani had 9ks, 5 innings pitched for the win (I thought he was squeezed in first inning and if could have gotten even half the borderline pitches called strikes, might have gone 7), went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored and his last hit was a bunt up third base line against the shift. Even the Texas announcers were kind of joking about it.
  12. I will stop and watch either of these if not doing something else. I would have liked to see a sequel to The Shadow. Of course, I liked Billy Zanes The Phantom and wish they had done more with that or a series.
  13. Would very much be a Stark thing to do if Avengers HQ’s AI was one of him. And Downey might be willing to make snarky cameos to do it.
  14. I’d watch that musical concert.
  15. I think I played for AND against that team.
  16. after long and careful study, I can see why, well actually, no I can't. but I am willing to study longer.
  17. yet another point in showing that NO, he didnt not think this all the way through past the first movie. Especially, as he sent Luke back to where Anakin was from. Of course, if he thought Anakin was dead, why would the emperor look there.
  18. And my first reaction - Where the hell was that when they did Iron Fist. Otherwise, looks great.
  19. I had never heard any of that about Ruby Rose leaving and still can't find anything about that. It was always something about her injuries and the travel, from what I understood. But you may be right about why she really left. I know she took a lot of flak from twitter about not being gay enough.
  20. And I suspect has nothing to do with the current spiderman, as the next Holland one seems to be part of the multidimension thing from Wanda and Strange, and I thought that Molina may have been the best villain yet in the spider man movies, only rivaled by Vulture, honestly. Mysterio was well done, and I liked DaFoe as Goblin, but not really as Norman Osborne (same problem most actors have with Batman or Superman I suppose, one or other good), I liked their Sandman too and wish he had been partnered with Hydro or someone else instead of Venom, Jaimie Foxx's Electro was just, well, not Electro. I am more interested/annoyed with Mysterio (though more likely the scientists who worked with him) giving away Peter's identity. Thought that could have been done waaaayyyy better. with the recording ending with And his name is ...., fade to black. then you have the classic spiderman situation. hate spidey but peter is anonymous.
  21. Necro thread raising, but needed to comment. Anyone else still watching. I have thought was decent, though they are doing a female version of Ra's to me as the megavillain. One annoying thing, Ryan was shot with a kryptonite bullet (only thing that can pierce the bat suit supposedly) and has kryptonite poisoning going on. But given that the DC universe was combined, why has NOONE called the DEO or Kara for that matter to ask if there is a cure. Sorry, things like this bug me, always have even in the comics. I realize you can't always use other people from other shows, but truth was, when Arrow and Flash were on, the scooby squads traded information all the time. why not incorporate Supergirl and Black Lightning into this.
  22. Just watched the Death Triangle/Young Bucks match from Wednesday's AEW show. One of the best I have seen in a long time with a truly shitty ending to show the change in the Bucks after rejoining Omega's group.
  23. Wonder how many will now end up in Impact/AEW? and how quickly. I put them together because more and more, the 2 are sharing wrestlers, it seems like.
  24. Hmm, I always assumed they did it because they hate people and were trying to annoy as many users as they could.
