slikmar reacted to Grailknight in Funny Pics II: The Revenge
You guys have short memories. Just off the the top of my head the 70's gave us Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Meat Loaf and Parliament/Funkadelic. Sure there was a lot of dreck, but even Disco had some gems and while it's not for everyone, this is when Rap was in its infancy and Country was going strong.

I always think it's funny when young people get all enamored over the 70s. I'm like, "Trust me, I was there, and it kind of sucked."
Now I have photographic proof to back up my argument.

Apropos of which, the Marketplace radio program yesterday said that Tesla Motors just filed its patent for using lasers as windshield wipers.
<All together now> What could possibly go wrong?
Especially with autonomous vehicles? Everyone loves robots with death rays!

Well, I would point out that Darth was actually the number 1 Lacky to the guy who actually ruled an entire Galaxy.

slikmar reacted to Grailknight in DC Movies- if at first you don't succeed...
Finally had a chance to watch The Suicide Squad. It was a fun ride that didn't take itself too seriously while still sticking to concept. They managed the character background well, the violence was well choreographed and the plot was coherent and believable. As long as you go in expecting an action comedy, you won't be disappointed. 8/10.

That's a fine sentiment when it it comes to judging the quality of a given piece of art. It's nonsense when deciding whose art to support. I didn't go looking for some way to be offended. Carano used the much bigger platform she gained by being on the Mandalorian to mock my identity and minimize the culpability of Nazis for the holocaust. If giving a little less money to Disney might to help, even just a tiny bit, to remove that platform, then that's what I'll do.
So, thanks for the advice, but I think I'll keep trying to deplatform transphobes and other bigots.

Despite the hard hype, I think TSS was always going to rely a lot on word of mouth (given how bad SS was), and since most of us who have seen it have enjoyed it, i think it will continue on a bit.
