NP: Everyone's picking on me. This game is too hard. I quit.
GM: Why is my player base so stagnant?
Hero Games: Why are our sales not going up? Where are all the new players?
Off topic to the thread, but maybe the new player would have a better time, and be up to speed faster, if someone actually helped them, instead of yelling at them and abusing them for making errors. I like to get an experienced player to "buddy" the new player for a few sessions (freeing the GM from this task).
playing around with a graphing calculator I came up with this. The expression is: cos x^2 > 0. the graph produces a wonderful image attached (as best as I can get). If anyone can produce a better image, post it please.
edit: I've just squared the circle.
edit no #2: So how much is this effect worth as an advantage to energy blast area effect? A ranged killing attack area effect?
(And tan r^2 >0 produces a similar but different enough image as well.)
Off the top of my head... Nick was a young olympic gymnast hopeful, but it was brought up that he pinged on mutant detection and was recruited into a special gov't program. With a bunch of other teens, they trained as a team, and he started developing superior senses (thus the code name). Enhanced smell, vision, greater hearing range. They determined that he had highly developed "reflex memory" allowing him to learn and master physical skills with great ease.
He doesn't actually show up on mutant detectors. It was a lie. He's not aware of that, though. I left a lot of the background hazy for plot purposes.
He doesn't have claws and he's not a martial artist, he just had some hand attack, lots of Dex and levels, dex skills, and the enhanced senses. Only 250 points at the time.

I lost myself on a cool damp night
I gave myself to the misty light
I was hypnotized by a strange delight
Under the lilac trees
I made wine from the lilac tree
Put my heart in it's recepie
It makes me se what I want to see
And be who I want to be
I think more than I want to think
And do things I never should do
I drink much more than I ought to drink
Because it brings me back you . . .
Edit: I knew I forgot something! This is a Jeff Buckley-text that's been rolling around my head all day . . . Sorry if you thought it was one of mine, but it's still damn good!
It annoys me that a thread you were enjoying reading and posting to one day suddenly turns into something else completely overnight, usually because one person took something out of context and ran with it. I don't mean your basic thread derailment of the Kara variety. I'm talkin' serious thread mugging and hijacking with only the barest hint of relation to the original topic. And it's not like the new conversation is stimulating. It's aggravating and trollish.
Feh!
It's not gonna affect my life in the grand scheme of things, but it's pretty annoying. It's downright irksome pre-caffeine.
