  1. Generally no, you can not Push because to do so you usually need to be taking an action and you cannot do that if it's not your Phase (barring a Held Action like Greywind said).  That said, it is not explicitly banned and a GM could definitely allow you to Push in a STR vs STR check initiated against you or even Push a Defensive Power you Abort to (or maybe just Push a Defensive Power in general if it was already active) as long as it fits the criteria listed.  "Pushing is only for crucial, heroic, or life-saving situations", "Pushing is only for heroes and important NPCs", you declare it before any roll, you make your EGO check (if it's a Heroic game), et cetera.

  2. I know it doesn't account for modern things like facial recognition software, but I always liked this particular illustration of why people don't recognize Clark as Superman:

There's also minor things a lot of people forget about like his glasses changing his eye color (and at one point hypnotizing people, ah the Silver Age) and the times that they have been seen together.

  3. Well, here's my reasoning.

What is our tripwire going to do?  Is it going to detonate a bomb?  If so, it's simply the Trigger advantage for an attack.  Does it just trip somebody and they fall down?  If that's the case, it's just a minor terrain hazard.

My one question is, how often do you have people make checks to see if they just happen to fall on random "minor terrain hazard"?

In my experience virtually never.  I'm not sure if I've ever had a GM make us do that.

Most of the rules regarding terrain in Hero are under Environmental Conditions and even ones like Poor Footing, Narrow Surfaces, or Cluttered and Cramped Conditions don't ever actually make you trip/fall.  In the Environmental Effects chapter Rain/Snow and Undergrowth likewise do not include a chance to fall.

So saying it shouldn't be built as a Power, just treated like this other situation that virtually never happens (in my experience) and that there aren't (to my knowledge) set rules for, isn't particularly helpful.

    Like Hyper-Man said:

How much a thing COSTS does not matter in a Heroic Game.

How a thing WORKS (ie; the 'defense' against that thing) matters regardless of whether it's a Heroic or Superheroic Game.

  5. Those are all the reasons why the upper atmosphere of venus would actually be the 2nd most habitable place to go to:

    http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/22/nasa-havoc-venus-airships/

All that martian ground does not really mater if you can not use it for all that radiation and lack of feritility/water anyway.

Although humans usually find building things like buildings on the ground a bit easier than building things in the upper atmosphere.
  6. You can still use hex maps and you can use still have 1 hex equal 2 meters. Nothing in the rules changes that or suggests otherwise. Some people like to play with different scales, especially when vehicle or space combat is involved.

6E didn't change the scale, it said there is no scale, do what you want, we're going to use the actual measurements that have always been there anyeay.

  7. Game scale did not change to 1 Hex equals 1 meter.

Measurements changed to "we're not measuring things by Hex anymore because that's dumb, we're just using meters". Since prior editions had hexes equaling a certain number of meters anyway virtually nothing has changed except you can now by Movement in 1 meter increments.

No where in any 6E book does it say 1 hex equals 1 meter, because there aren't hexes.

Also, doubling the number of hexes and calling them meters is all that is needed. That is hardly a "complete rewrite".

  8. Let's take a look at one of the teams we lost to this week.  The Paladins are a tough team.  Even though our loss was mostly the dice's fault, it was an extremely close match.  Ms. Marvel has shown to be extremely popular and last season did fairly well even when outmatched in terms of power.

Captain America is, of course, Cap. What can I say?  He's got popularity, skill, smarts, and that shield of his helps even the odds against opponents that should be way out of his league.  He may be considered "only human", but his abilities are next to none and his popularity is a major issue in this type of contest.

Shulkie is quite a dame.  She's not as strong as her cousin, but she is a powerhouse nevertheless.  She has a lot of finesse and relies on skill more than a lot of heavy hitters do, making her doubly dangerous.  She even served on the FF for a while, though of course no one could ever replace yours truly.

Storm can control weather and fly, but that's more dangerous than it sounds.  She can drop lighting like it's nothing and drop the temp to near arctic on a hot summer day.  Add in her experience in hand to hand combat and strategy as a leader of the X-men and we have a powerful opponent who can stay out of reach of many of us.

Moon Knight is another great hand to hand fighter.  I know some of you aren't too worried about taking a punch, but he gets pretty strong when the moon is full and he has a lot of gadgets too.  He has no problem taking a punch if it means he'll be able to hit you too and he has thrown weapons and is pretty stealthy for a guy who sneaks around at night in all white clothing.  Basically, he's tougher than he sounds.

Black Adam.  I worked with that schmuck last season.  Guy can be okay but he's a bit full of himself.  Anyway, he's one we really need to watch out for powers-wise.  He's got high end super strength along with speed, agility, and he can shoot lighting.  He's tough.  His biggest weakness is that he doesn't seem to be that popular.  To much of a "dark anti-hero" vibe for some voters, and that's when he's not a villain.  Truth be told I got a bit confused about his backstory with two different pantheons of gods and time travel and alternate versions and what not.  Short version, he's a tough one, be careful and try to act popular.

The turtle is a turtle... that's a ninja.  I kid you not.  Apparently he is really good, he leads a team of turtles that all do ninja...stuff.  I'm sure he's a tough opponent or he wouldn't be here.  (I'm getting a headache, how the heck am I supposed to assess the threat level of a friggin' turtle...with swords)

And then there's Optimus Prime.  He's a great big robot who turns into a truck.  He's strong and has a laser gun of some kind.  I assume he's a bit tougher than a normal truck so be careful, but other than that I'm not sure what to say other than almost all of us have taken on our share of giant robots... What?  Magma, could you explain to Toph what a robot is?  Thanks.

Okay, that's it.  Any questions?  Good.  Let's get out there and bust some skulls, huh?
