OKay, this is Sabre - My take on a Psionic Warrior in the modern age.

I basically photoshopped an image of Solidus snake, and added a helmet... Since I suck at drawing, I had to work with what I had.

Yeah, I think the Helmet looks out of place too...

Hopefully I can find a replacement in the future.

A big thanks to Jeff Dee for giving me a provisional go ahead on this, and make sure to visit some of the links on the title page as they are worth it for the trip down memory lane.

Okay, the first page is up, my take on a modern version of the Crusaders is now available for purview.

    Good cop, PSYCHO cop

The players have stopped a hit raid against a particular mafioso named Jimmy the Shark. They have Jimmy and are questioning him to find out who might have sent the hit team. The two heroes are a scrapper type and a pistolero type (who is on his first mission with this super team). The conversation goes like this, in what should have been a "Good Cop/Bad Cop" play:

Scrapper: Tell us what we want to know!

    Jimmy the Shark: No

    Pistolero: Can I shoot him?

Scrapper (obviously thinking this is a ploy): Sure.

Pistolero: OK. *shoots Jimmy in the head*

I have seen actual footage of gangbanger gunfights and it's pretty clear why innocent bystanders are usually the victims--they flail their weapons around while firing and never even attempt to use the sights or otherwise aim. I'm thinking that if we gave firearms instruction to imprisoned gangstas, then as they were released the innocent death toll would drop and the gangsta death toll would increase, which would be something of an improvement.

Cap Charlton smiled tightly as the Q-Man held the turtle ship in his giant hand. Moments later the craft was back in its home dimension thanks to the remote control the Scarab had rigged up. A glimpse in the future had shown him a very public execution taking place.

That wasn't any concern of his.

His concern stopped at the point of the invaders versus the Earth. Anything else was no concern of his. He waited for Q-Man to fly back on board before he headed back to base. Reports had to be written and filed, and the swamp bomb had a place in a secret warehouse waiting for it.

The plane banked gently as it headed for home.

    Relations with other organizations:
The Dimensional Commandoes typically operate on missions dealing with extradimensional invasions. They have limited contact with other heroes, and have established good, but not excellent, relations with those teams and solo heroes they have crossed paths with since their inception.

They have helped foiled several plots by villains like Dr. Destroyer, Mechanon, and the Ultimates, but these are rare occurrences. Their main enemies are DEMON, and Istvatha V'han. A close third is the Sylvestris family of mystics.

The D-Commandoes represent a collection of skills and powers that could be used to hasten Luther Black's summoning of the Kings of Edom. Q-Man, by himself, is a large dose of Qliphothic essence that could be used to weaken the world if his armored shell was broken down. Swithin's luck could be harnessed to change things to go anyway that chance could alter things.

The problem is that Cap Charlton conducts preemptive raids on any DEMON lair that try to gear up to attack his team. His foresight circumvents any trap and allows his group to counter anything a morbane or brother can try to stop them. Several clashes with the Unholy Trinity has led Charlton to believe that DEMON was involved in the disappearance of his friend which has only fueled his obsessiveness to rip away any secret the group possesses.

V'han has become a regular enemy due to covert operations in parallel dimensions. That has led the Council to help set up resistance networks, and provide training for those other places to oppose the empress. This has in turn led to covert strikes into the gray areas surrounding the expanding empire.

These operations are intended to slow V'han's campaign, even though there is no hope of actually dethroning her at the moment. A secondary effect is to protect the Earth from any transdimensional flanking attack that could be used as a loophole in the agreement signed with the Champions.

The feud with the Sylvestris began over Council operatives being killed by Bocal MacFarlane. Ever since then, the Council has done what it could to disrupt any plans that it learns about, which means the D-Commandoes are expected to bear the brunt of this secret war. They haven't been able to strike a solid blow against the clan as a whole, but they have confiscated some valuable resources, and destroyed others. Mister Mist is especially hated by those of the clan who have dealt with him.

The rest of the mystic world have encountered the Commandoes, but this has not led to the enmity that they share with DEMON. It's only a matter of time.

Announcing the new "Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge" device, otherwise known as BOOK!

It's a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on. It's so easy to use even a child can operate it. Just lift its cover. Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere--even sitting in an armchair by the fire--yet it is powerful enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM! Here's how it works: each BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (recyclable), each capable of holding thousands of bits of information. These pages are locked together with a custom-fit device called a binder which keeps the sheets in their correct sequence. By using both sides of each sheet, manufacturers are able to cut costs in half. Each sheet is scanned optically, registering information directly into your brain. A flick of the finger takes you to the next sheet. The book may be taken up at any time and used by merely opening it. The "browse" feature allows you to move instantly to any sheet, and move forward and backward as you wish. Most come with an "index" feature, which pinpoints the exact location of any selected information for instant retrieval. An optional "BOOKmark" accessory allows you to open the BOOK to the exact place you left it in a previous session--even if the BOOK has been closed. BOOKmarks fit universal design standards; thus a single BOOKmark can be used in BOOKs by various manufacturers. Portable, durable and affordable, the BOOK is expected to enjoy tremendous demand of truly historic proportions. New titles continue to appear, due to the continued popularity of its programming tool, the Portable Erasable-Nib Cryptic Intercommunication Language Stylus.

I pickewd up a few at Diecon this weekend and thought I'd share.

    From Steve Long's Champions senerio:

SL: "You're Superheroes. You want to sneak in and smash the place up."

SL: "What time of day are you doing this?"
    Defender (played by Scubahero): "Night!"

Sapphire to Witchcraft: "Drain them to Zero Presence and they become more like you."

    Witchcraft "I Dex his Drain!"

    From a Stargate Game:
two characters talking about General O'Neil:
    "He can be serious."
"But not in a serious way."

"The Goa'uld would not duplicate Howard Stern."

"I was trying to rescue you, but this guy can walk thru walls."

While fighting our "evil" duplicates, one of the players mentioned our dupes not being who they were, I cracked a joke about RFK. (Doc Anomaly was also in the game)
DA: "Don't blindside me like that when I'm trying to shoot myself."

    from a Dark Champions game:
"There is only enouhg room in a Lamborgini for the Driver and a good looking woman.

    From a fantasy Hero game:
A large rat had just jumped on one of the characters.
me: "Is it a rodent of Unusual Size?"
ScubaH: "I don't think they exist"

I'm satisfied about the stability of Mac OS X. Today I've been foing "spring cleaning". I wanted to backup some documents to DVD so I can use a "clean" Hard Drive. During my spring cleaning I found documents going back to when I started using Macs in 1991, not to mention the hobbies I've had along the way, accumulating shareware/freeware, my collection of rpg materials scattered over numerous folders and taking that trip down memory lane.

Spotlight and Smart folders were very helpful in finding the numerous archives and Stuffit Spacesaver files scattered over the HD. I wish Spotlight could find "locked" files, that would have been a timesaver. Finder had to be relaunched about ten times when "getting info" on 700+ files. My workaround was to take it folder by folder.

Some (user) accidents resulted in me:
    * opening hundreds documents (text files, word documents, excel files, clarisworks files) AT ONCE! Opps.
    * opening 30+ Mac OS 'classic' applications at once. Boy did the dock grow small real quick. Thank goodness for the power to force quitting the classic environment (multiple times).

When you see your screen gowing haywire, and having to force-quit applications to restore "order" but the OS stability is rock solid. No restart needed dispite me doing some silly things (as above).

And so the Mac has evolved into a better machine. Still has the easy to use interface of the past but now with Tiger (and Unix) the system has evolved into a great, usable and (did I mention) stable machine.

When the time comes the NeXT computer I buy will be a Mac also.

On the whole subject of stereotypical liberal and conservative attitudes, I hate both, the conservatives who eat up patriotic pabulum and hate criticism, and the liberals who feel that every statement has to be caveated with how bad America is and have a knee-jerk distrust of those who display patriotism.

I'm actually closing in on 100 posts.... I'm not really a net/chat board enthusiast, but I _am_ extremely competitive, so this pleases me. I also want more rep, but it looks to me, cynic that I am, like rep goes to them as has it.

    -----------------Anti-Liberal criticism follows-----------------------

I was born English, and lived the first 4 years of my life there. I conceived a vast loyalty and attachment to my own Romanticized notion of England, composed of (amongst other things) King Arthur, Robin Hood, Sherlock Holmes, the English language, heroism and victory in WWII and football.

In 1992, after _many_ years of residency, I became a naturalized U.S. citizen...and I have never felt the need to condemn my adopted country for all the evils, real and imagined, of the entire world. That's something many natural-born Liberal U.S. citizens canNOT refrain from doing, whether from naïvety, transference of personal guilt, desire to be fashionable or simple ignorance.

I find that Liberal ingratitude and disloyalty digusting! If the Liberals believe that other nations are morally superior to the U.S., that the people of other nations are leading less restricted, freer and more ideal lives than the people of the U.S., then let the Liberals _immigrate_ to those other nations. I'll watch the airports for the vast exodus of Liberals heading for Iraq, Iran, France, Germany, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Korea -- but I think I'll be waiting a looong time for any signs of the American Liberals putting their money where their (big) mouths are.
