Re: Why I prefer HERO System over Pathfinder/OGL/D&D for fantasy QFT. When my sons wanted to learn we did quite a few "danger rooms." It started with both of their characters against my one. Then I had to bring in two characters. Then I was refereeing as they fought each other. By the time they played with a group, they had a good understanding of what their characters could and couldn't do.

RuneQuest, got rid of character class, levels and other stuff I didn't like about D&D, make skills more important. Champions/Hero System. STUN vs BODY. Now every conflict didn't have to be to the death. Why had no one thought about that before? Yes, Hero has other advantages, but that is the one that made me never look back.

Re: Spartans Airbrushed abs and a big shield? Seriously: Teamwork. Heart of the Spartan training was each man protected the one to his left. Tactics. Discipline & training, I think that would be a bonus to EGO rolls. Defenses stronger on the front (facing the enemy) than on the back (any Spartan who turned his back on the enemy deserved to die). This of course creates a vulnerability to backstabbing and treachery.

Re: Vanished Villains Dragonfly became a rite-of-passage in my group. Whenever he appeared the agreement was for everyone else to hold back or engage other opponents and have "the new guy" (newest character and/or player) target him. If you one-punched him, you were One Of The Team. In my world Panda and Raccoon became eco-terrorist for a while, but now are engaging in lower profile crime to finance some covert cloning labs. They have been known to break into zoos or labs where a rare species is located, take a swab or leaf cutting, and leave. PC's in my campaign largely ignored them.

He will bare all for charity. Snow Leopard Will agree if tasteful and for charity. Millennium Tasteful & for charity, but his idea of tasteful would be recreating the pose ofa classical nude statue. IOW, full frontal, no figleaf.

Get convicted of a felony, you get deported after you serve your time, no exceptions. Don't get anyone PO'ed and you can live and work here for years unless some politician wants to make headlines. So if the authorities find the hero more useful than annoying, it would probably be "Did I forget to check his immigration status? My bad." Plot seed, what if a bad cop used an allegation of being undocumented to try to uncovr a secret ID?

Marry a citizen, get divorced before you're naturalized, you might never be a citizen. Divorce after you're naturalized, you're here for life. Likewise, get convicted of a felony before you're naturalized, you get deported, no exceptions. Get convicted after you're naturalized, you stay here after you get out of prison. A hitch in the military is a fast track to citizenship, use to be undocumented included, I expect that to come back. There are no anchor babies. There use to be, that loophole was closed in the Reagan administration.

[missing 2]: Erebus, Nyx (or Nox), Hecate, nothing approperate comes to mind Not really wild about the AABA rhyme scheme. It worked for Robert Frost, in this case not so much. Second line needs work, doesn't really roll off the tongue. How about By Vulcan's day by Nox's night Humanity's spirit still survives! The resentful apothecary must not tinker on a journey in the age of fire. He will never dip during a rainstorm for the sake of sleep. The arrogant griffon must appear with the idealistic warlock. The foolish reaver will trawl while the sun sets. He shall teach or a betrayal shall not occur with the lauded cook near a bridge. A revelation will not occur or the fearless unicorn shall behave with the cold-hearted zealot. The lazy scholar shall hew and she will not write near a river. Re: Power suit material and weapons Sounds like the real problem is the GM doesn't want you to have powered armor. Have you talked to them and asked if that character does not fit the game he wants to run?
