  1. His actions and policies spoke louder than words and they weren't really implying he liked a lot of people....
  2. They ARE doing their job...opposing anti democratic legislation.
  3. Sadly, I don't think that's possible. Meaningful bipartisan governance in America is dead, but the Dems continue to act as if it is still possible. That's why they always lose. They want to do things in the perceived "proper way" while the Reps just care about winning. Guess who is having better results? The side that plays to win. Victory is perceived as strength. And Americans perceive strength as being needed to "fix" the country. That's why Reps can literally do just about anything...no matter how heinous....and it doesn't matter...as long as they are victorious. Remember Deep Space Nine? "Victory is Life!" At this point, I'm more worried about this old adage... "Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them." Do we really want to be a country that has so much in common with Nazi Germany? I sure as hell don't.
  4. What amazes me is the amount of people in the country that openly support authoritarian fascism. It's insulting and frightening at the same time.
  5. Ultraman Leo...last of the 70's Ultra shows. Fun in all the usual ways, but it came at the end of the superhero boom and it is starting to show.
  6. Underestimating Trump and Republicans in general is what got us to this point to begin with....
  7. And we've done nothing since except allow them to do whatever the hell they want.....
  8. That's kind of the point I'm trying to make. I'm not really qualified to do that kind of work, but the people we have actually doing it our even worse.
  9. When I feel that I myself...with no background in politics...can do a better job than the majority of the people running a country....there's a problem.
  10. My big problem with WW84 was the ethical dilemma of a man literally losing his life so that Steve can "live" again. Not very heroic to be honest. She doesn't question the morality of this even once in the movie. Lord's plan and motives are also executed very clumsily throughout. Wiig's Cheetah was actually a pretty good character until the tacked on "animal" transformation...which was beyond forced. The movie was way too long for the story it was telling as well. I didn't hate it, but it was nowhere near as good as the 2017 film.
  11. I find Eurostar fine mostly as is. Superheroes and supervillains in general are exaggerations of real people. I don't dislike Scorpia because she's an Irish terrorist. I hate her because she's an amoral psychopath who will kill you for even the slightest offense. Durak is despicable because he treats normals as toys to be played with and broken whenever he feels the urge. Being Russian is merely incidental and...to be blunt....not his defining trait. I think we're overthinking this a bit. Supervillains don't need to be PC. If they wanted to be shining examples of humanity and proper representatives of their nationalities, they probably wouldn't be villains. For my part, their sociopathic personalities define them way more than their countries of origins. When I think of Scorpia, I think of the "crazy wench with the claws" and not that she's former IRA.
  12. It's still being worked on. It's nearing completion, but according to the author...character sheets are still being worked on.
  13. An old campaign I was in had Eurostar as the main antagonists. They were exceedingly nasty and did everything possible to hurt our heroes, including killing friends/NPCs. By the time our final battle with them came, the kid gloves were off.
  14. The other thing to note is that Fiacho spends a lot of time currying favors from other superhumans so that they owe him when the time comes for Eurostar's "inevitable" takeover. It's also noted that Eurostar hates non European supers. That could be a new theme if you want to get away from the "United Europe" trope. Perhaps they strike out against "American Imperialism".
  15. This is not an unreasonable statement. Shin and Burning Godzilla (from 1995) are pretty intimidating in their own ways as well.
  16. The Heisei 1991 Godzilla was plenty intimidating. Check out the scene where he stares down Yoshio Tsuchiya.
  17. Objectively, With respect, POV shots are not unique to this version of Godzilla. As far as the design, it was reviled enough that it was changed for the next two outings to look more like....Godzilla. I don't hate the 2014 film by any means, but Edwards didn't create the foundation...Honda/Tsuburaya did and every other film maker has been building on or reinterpreting THAT legacy...so that's where I will give due credit.
  18. Edwards didn't even give us what your suggesting. The trailers suggested a return to the destructive Godzilla from 1954 and we got the "hero" Godzilla of the 70's. The 2014 was fairly dull and Edwards pulled a "bait and switch" and gave us a totally different movie from the trailers. His Godzilla was in the "hero" mode akin to the 70's mixed with some of the "shock and awe of the Heisei Godzilla. His Godzilla wasn't any more "real" (or original) than the versions presented to us during the Heisei series, but his film was generally less fun to watch. I won't even get into using Akira Takarada to get the goodwill of hardcore fans on his side and then cutting him from the movie. None of the Legendary films were great (and all were lacking in several ways), but the latter two captured the essence of what made these films fun to a greater degree than Edward's film ever did.
  19. The anthropomorphism of the kaiju is hardly the issue with Godzilla vs Kong. The film has other far more pressing issues. And kaiju displaying human characteristics is absolutely within genre. Unless you hated the entire Showa series, in which case...I can't help you.
  20. Mitch telling corporations to stay out of politics is laughable given the donations he receives. I don't usually wish ill on people, but god bless I wish he'd disappear.
  21. Godzilla has nearly always displayed more than "animal" intelligence. He's animal like certainly, but he's always displayed a level of awareness and sentience. it's that aspect that makes Godzilla (and titans/kaiju in general) seem majestic and divine.
  22. That drawing is pretty insulting on a number of levels to be honest. I freely admit the majority of them probably would enjoy themselves at a fancy party without a care in the world while the rest of society burned.
