Re: Musings on Random Musings

Tell me about it... hence the reason my thesis project did NOT involve me working with children directly (thank God for small mercies).

The PhD project will be continuing the study I started in my thesis, but this time going all the way from K-12. And at least THIS time, I won't have to invent a system totally from scratch to do my analysis. It was the first time in the College of Education that any professor saw a thesis take four years. The results were worth it, though.

Re: Musings on Random Musings

lol Wonder if anyone can come up with the Perky Fu martial art. :D
How's this?

Perky Fu

  • Perky Pecking
    • 5 (Defensive Strike) +1/+3 STR Strike

    [*]Martial Cringe*

    • 5 (Flying Dodge) -/+4 Dodge All Attacks, Abort, FMove

    [*]Perky Derail

    • 5 (Disarming Throw) 0/0 Grab Weapon, +5 STR to take weapon away; Target Falls

    [*]Perky Distraction

    • 4 (Martial Flash) -1/-1 Flash 4d6 (Sight Group)

    [*]Perky Retort

    • 4 (Counterstrike) +2/+2 STR +2d6 Strike, Must Follow Block

* Alternate idea: +20 PRE only to convince target to stop their attack. (don't hit me! I didn't mean it! Really!)

Re: Musings on Random Musings

When am I going to learn to quit posting in politcally heated thread when what I post has good points' date=' hope for discussion or debate on those points, but all I get is "good speech" and it's back to the ideological BS... :straight:[/quote']

Pretty much why I don't post to the political threads as well, the good posts get drowned out in the noise.

Both you and Dr. Otaku should know that a lot of time a good point isn't ignored, it's just that it's easier, unfortunately, to pick at the posts where one sees fault. I've noted many of your posts, BlackSword, in particular where I agree but since most of the time we've both stated a similar position I don't like to just add "me, too" where I've already said something similar, and where we disagree usually you've made a reasonable enough statement I can't find fault with it.

Re: Musings on Random Musings

Meanwhile... a hundred some pages ago...

It's page 170, August 20-21st.

Rachel gently chides those who forget not to reply in this thread.

Worldmaker has challenged Chuckg to a duel.

Skaramine has discovered Vivarin withdrawl.

Worldmaker apologizes for his behavior while being so stressed out.

It seems that August has been stressing a lot of people.

Sounds like you should consider learning speedreading. At this rate you'll never catch up to the current stuff!

I got more than one threat to catch up on.

Maybe later you'll get more than one recap a day.

Of course, if I never catch up, you'll always have these little windows of what life was like 3 months ago.

Re: Musings on Random Musings

Jared, my three year old son, is a rabid Dora the Explorer fan... to the point that he calls Boots the Monkey his brother.

My mother bought him an episode that had been specifically made for him. She apparently sent the producers some of his information, and included a picture. So today, his episode arrives and he and I and his mother watch it together. Its got the usual simplistic storyline, but the characters talk to him and ask him questions... and his picture appears here and there in the episode itself (including, to his great delight, on the head of a little cartoon boy during the opening credits)...

I have no idea how I'm going to get him to go to sleep tonight...

This is the most awesome thing I have heard of in a long time. I wish my parents got me presents like this when I was a wee one.
