So does that guy ever notice the shark is shadowing him?

It's up on snopes now. The context of the photo is that they were studying sharks off the coast of Africa, and wanted to know if it was safe to be in a kayak. So that guy paddled out to meet the shark.

 

The shark swam around him (bear in mind, he's LONGER than the kayak itself, and there's only a thin layer of plastic between shark teeth and human flesh, here), circled a few times, lifted his head out of the water to get a better look, then went along with his life.

 

They had tested this with an empty kayak first. But, STILL. Whoa.

I did a flyby of Area 51 on Google Earth the other day. Too bad the satcam doesn't penetrate alien cloaking technology.

 

Reminds me of when India complained because Google Maps showed photos of its secret military sites. I wonder if they ever addressed that?

I know Australia politely asked for Lucus Hights to be blurred out of fear of terrorism, but later withdrew the request.
