Great Beyond has no skills at disarming bombs aside from what she's seen in movies - so aside from blasting it with ice and hoping that's enough to contain the blast, it's "Say hello to your new mutations" day in Seattle and New York.

 

Natasha has a bit more virsatility to her. She could easily use her 30 point gadet pool to build remote control arms, to disarm the Seattle bomb without getting contaminated. Then it's a hop in her time traveling 57 Chevy, a quick jaunt back a week, and a casual drive across country to New York. She and her robot arms woud arrive and time it so the bomb was disarmed just after she disarmed the first one, thereby avoiding any potential paradoxes in the process. Ta-dah! The day is saved!

Soulbarb: Can only deal with the local one. Lacking demolitions, the best she would be able to do is stuff it down a deep hole, try to burn it up, or the like. She probably gets hit with the booby trap. If Nocturne were around, he might try a power stunt to phase with it through solid matter and leave it stuck in there, which would probably contain the problem (though still leaving the NYC bomb to go off.)

 

Sylph: Is horrified and has no idea what to do. She'd call UNTIL and get their advice. Failing that, after several anxious moments wasted fretting about the situtation, will pray to Dionysus and ask for his help to resolve the situation. Of course his solution might not be the one Sylph would have chosen...

 

Cerulean: By default his campaign city is not NYC, but is near enough to NYC that he might be able to get to both bombs in time, if he knows where they both are. If not, he'll only be able to deal with the local one. Disposing of it without setting off the booby trap shouldn't be too difficult as he has a magic SFX VPP. If necessary he can just slap a drain all mutant SFX on it and watch it fizzle when the timer expires.

Phidippus has a pretty good skill roll with both demolitions and biology, as well as a classic Silver-Age outlook - so despite any risk to himself, he'd be likely to stay to the bitter end, figuring that few others could get to the bomb in time anyway (that would be better at the job). His extra arms and eyes allow him to perform tasks of manual dexerity at one step down the time scale - coupled with his Danger sense, this would hopefully give him the edge to circumvent booby traps. If his own (further) mutation is inevitable, though, he'd just try and roll with it.

 

Since he is apparently cut off communication-wise, the local bomb is his first priority - but any spare concentration he has would then be focused on getting in contact with someone in New York about bomb two. He's wicked fast in combat terms, but no massive NC multiplier or megascale movement, so getting to NY in time is not an option all the way from Millenium City.

 

If bomb one is simple to defuse (ie. taking little time), and the booby trap is inevitable, and communication attemtps with NY are either taken care of or a total exercise in futility, he'd try and rig his comlink to act as a recording device for a couple of short messages - one for his closest friends (saying how he'd want them to go on and live well, and a brief description of the qualities he admires in them), and one for the public (thanking them for their support, and trying to be as inspirational as possible, especially for the kiddies). Essentially an exercise in vanity, as he wouldn't feel like he's left much of a legacy (so much work left to do, so many wrongs unrighted, etc.). The mutation may not be fatal, it may not be crippling, it may even be curable or beneficial - but he's not the type of guy to take chances.

 

If he survives more or less intact, he hauls a** back to base, hops in the medbay and starts running tests/working on a cure for any negative mutations before the other shoe drops. If communication is possible after the bomb threat and he has no idea what the mutations were caused by, he tells his teammates to clear out of the base in case he's contagious, and take any important personal stuff with them. At this point, Ashley (no super-name yet) is still dead broke and likely the only one home, so it shouldn't take him long to get lost!

 

And for the love of Jeebus, he'll spend those 4 saved character points on finally getting Dr. Silverback as a contact! (Justified by his background) If he can't help, no one probably can!

a mutagen bomb in New York City? How far is that from New Jersey? Will anybody even notice a difference??

As I didn't answer this one before....

 

Terminal Velocity would run to NYC (speedster) and try and disarm it, but it wouldn't work, he doesn't have that kind of skills.

 

Smokeater would get the one in campaign city, by using his fire powers to melt the circuits to keep them from going off.

Meeb would envelop one, and not worry about the consequences (he isn't built the same way we are - mutagens likely wouldn't affect him).

 

Ballistic would use his magic pool to find the bomb in campaign city in one phase, then megascale teleport it to the moon, then megascale teleport to NYC and repeat. He'd have the whole thing cleaned up in less than a turn. 80 pt Cosmic Magic Pools are really cool. :D

And if the self defence thing did go off, his suit is completely sealed (it's space worthy, as well as deep sea worthy) and he would be insulated from it.

Volt, if he were alone would wrap a force wall around one after radioing NYC heroes what was going on. This would knock him out, (side effect) but the wall would stand. Some how the whole thing would have to be moved or desroyed at once. It is all he could do.

 

Olorin would t-port the whole thing into an active volcano (!) If he's seen a place or can see a place, he can t-port himself or other objects there. If Volt were around, he'd have him radio NYC and hope. However... If the media had coverage of the bomb in NYC and he saw it - poof! Off to NYC, t-port the bomb, accept the accalades - and face a long fly home unless someone gave him a ride. He can fly, but not fast over long distances, and typically only can do 3 t-ports per senario.(Several hours)
