Battle of Detroit Dead List?

Re: Battle of Detroit Dead List?

Something I was curious about, owing to a potential game plot ... is there a printed list of the names, and powers (not full write-ups, but quick blurbs) of all the Heroes and/or Villains who died in the cataclysmic Battle of Detroit?

Takofanes needs minions ... ;)

That is just evil ;)

Not to mention all the deceased loved ones and former DNPCs, character backgrounds depending, that one could call up, were they there at the time.

A necromancer could make a good trade there, right in the heart of the City. Something about all that death in a single place that'd make it perfect for someone like DEMON to make a play for.

Re: Battle of Detroit Dead List?

The only ones I've been able to find in published Champions products are:

Icestar

Vigil

Goblin

Tiger (Sentinels leader)

Shadowboxer: Killed by Glacier (character sheet in MC sourcebook)

Vanguard: Flying Brick (died in orbit)

Flechette 2

Crusher

Its also a bit unclear how many heroes died. Champions Universe says nearly 50. Millennium City says about two dozen.

As far as I'm aware there is no detail on any deceased heroes powers from this. Maybe something to ask for in Champions Universe 2.

Yes, a list of the dead would be nice. I've written up a PC or two who lost superhuman relations in the destruction of Detroit.

Myself, I'm guessing that Icestar controlled cold, that Goblin was a Spider-Man homage (think if Peter Parker became a good-guy Green Goblin instead of Spider-Man), Vigil was a psi, Tiger was a martial artist (Black Panther?), Crusher a brick, Flechette 2 either a gadgeteer or a speedster, and Vanguard was the CU version of Superman, as mentioned elsewhere.

Maybe MC is referring to the actual heroes, while CU is referring to the total number of superhumans who died, hero and villain alike? I doubt all the beaten-up bad guys were able to escape before the blast.

Didn't some "villains" fight on the hero's side? Since Dr. Destroyer's plan(s) were far too evil for them to stomach?

Maybe, but did the villains know just what his plan really was? If HG ever does a Silver Age sourcebook, I hope they give us a chance to play through the Battle of Detroit, or at least give it some more coverage. Instead of letting your character wither away, let them go down fighting in the biggest battle of all.

I see the Battle of Detroit as "What If Marvel and DC were to finish their Silver Age with a real bang?" Basically, all or nearly all the Silver Age heroes die horribly in one last attempt to save humanity from the evil of Doctor D. The fact that they failed at it just makes it all the more tragic.

Does it matter? I mean, this is Dr. D, if he takes over the world, there's a bunch of villains who will be out of work and/or dead. I can see the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" attitude here.

Well, yeah, that's true. "Vanguard, old enemy, just because I saved you from Glacier, please don't think that means I've 'turned good'. If that wretch Destroyer wins, I'll never be able to conquer the world away from him. He lacks your sentimental attitudes about human life. The only reason I'm still alive and free is because I have you for an enemy."

There's also guys like GRAB. "If Dr. D wins, we'll be some of the first to go! We gotta do something!"

 Many Thanks FenrisUlf. With your permission your version of Goblin is definitely going to become one of the historical heroes in my CU version of Seattle.

I remember reading about one of the Meteormen being killed during the battle, I think it was #2.

There was an Icestar who was a member of the Champions 1st-3rd Edition. He was also a member of the team in the Champions and League of Champions comics.

Off to find the issue with his stats...

High STR, CON and INT, superhuman DEX, increased PD and ED.

Multipower with Ice Blast EB, Ice Shard RKA, Ice Entangle and Radius Ice Entangle.

Elemental Control with ground-level Flight (Ice Slide), Ice Force Wall and Ice Armor (costs END to activate).

Vulnerable to fire, adrenaline junkie, sucker for a pretty face, brash and arrogant.

Several of those guys were just names of PCs who had played in old campaigns of mine: Icestar, Goblin, Vigil and Tiger definitely. Shadowboxer was also a PC in one of my campaigns. I just thought it would be nice to see them in print, even if it was in such a grisly fashion. dw

Heh... when doing bluebooking and PBEM stuff, I've used names of co-workers and customers at NASA HQ when I've needed names. I think I've killed off most everyone in the cubes around me. :eg:
