Basil
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... It is really creepy but... Scooped Well.....Fooey. :( Well, I gave a link to an article with information. Not so scooped after all. AND I showed how it relates to Hero Games, instead of just dropping it in the NGD. j/k
AmadanNaBriona
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... Watching that video while listening to Ennio Morricone's "Godfather Waltz" was surreal. In a good sort of way. It looks creepily like the usual depictions of H. G. Wells' Martians. yeah, I can see that. I was thinking it also looked a LOT like the ID4 alien.
Doctor Agenda
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... I was reading about the mimic octopus, a real-life shapeshifter with multiple forms. It can do a snake, a fish, a rock, and some...things that don't correspond to anything we know of. Maybe things that are extinct, or that it learned to mimic on its...HOME PLANET! Which is our planet of course, but it IS pretty alien-ish. Sketchpad
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... Huh ... that's pretty cool And I've got to agree with Bob ... they do kinda remind me of the Martians in WotW

Susano
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... It looks creepily like the usual depictions of H. G. Wells' Martians. Except they were the size of a bear and had a huge flat object for an ear.

Sir Ofeelya
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... Traveller already had the Githianki (or whatever they were called). Big intelligent squid-like beings. Real fancy pressure suits for them too.

tkdguy
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... I had this random thought the other day. If the planet has a highly eccentric orbit, maybe two species can evolve there. One species would be terrestrial. They would be active when the planet is far from its sun. And they would estivate when the planet warms up. The other species would be aquatic. They would be active when the planet is close to its sun. They would hibernate when the planet cools off. Would the two species be aware of each others' existence? That's up to the GM.
Susano
Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... I'm fairly positive something like that's been done in a novel before.

There was a situation similar to that in Hal Clement's CYCLE OF FIRE http://concord.wikia.com/wiki/Cycle_of_Fire_(novel)
