For nearly 5 decades The Night Warden has protected the citizens and when one falls another rises to take his place. Rarely is the power and responsibility passed on while one Night Warden lives. But it has happened on more than one occasion. The last time was when The Night Warden had to pass on the power to another because of The Grudge Report. Dave Kowalski had been The Night Warden for 5 years when the Mafia caught up with him and gunned him down (in costume) although he managed to get away. As he lay on a rooftop close to death the villainess B Line found him and he transferred the power to her just as it had been transferred to him by the previous Night Warden. Sylvia Carstairs managed to fight villainy as the new version for 3 years until The Grudge Report published two pieces of information. The first was that Vinne 'The Nose' Cliento had been The Night Warden in the early 70s while the second was that Sylvia Carstairs was B Line. The awesome intellect of The Night Warden made her aware that the two events were connected. Therefore she passed on the power to another while starting a new villain ID as Lady Terror.

Sylvia has sympathy for Fatemaster as she knows what it is like to have and lose power. But she is also providing support to Crom and Grave.

The passing of the power is akin to the Green Lantern Corps rings searching for new members. And the Mafia have had more than two of its members become Night Wardens. They want the power finished off for good. It is no coincidence as far as they are concerned that following Valachi's testimony the first of the Night Wardens appeared.

NB: We need more members.

The villian known as Airstrike would have remained the hero Cloud, and remained in the Air Force. When it was revealed that he launched a lightning storm on civilians, he was courtmartialed and publically asked to leave the service. he still has ties with the Air Force and still uses his powers for missions either solo, or with the help of his new team.

The Air Force return his aid in missions with trying to track down the Grudge Report headquarters through the internet, or Tattle tale.

Vacuum aka Edgar Sweeney has the power to create small areas of vacuum which he uses for various effects.  He's pretty creative, but the limited effect made him best in teams with other villains.  The Grudge Report earned his ire by digging up old photos of him in high school at a drunken party...dressed as "Girl Hitler."  This has made him something of a laughingstock, and a target for supers who really hate Nazis, even one-time pretend ones.

Mock, a villainous shape shifter, was outed as gay on the blog. While he didn't care that he was outed, he joined this revenge squad just for the principal of it. He was already disowned by his parents for being a supervillain, sp it didn't bother him being double disowned.

The villainous Silverflame was outed by The Grudge Report as being responsible for the death of nine policemen. Consequently she disappeared and a new villainess Alba appeared. Alba was contacted by people who knew what The Grudge Report had not printed, that she had been the victim of the policemen and had taken what they considered as quite justified revenge. During the conversations the idea behind the Retaliators took shape so Alba is a founding member. Alba has been the leader but is more the soul of the team, thus anyone hurt by The Grudge Report is welcome to join. Alba's main job is to keep the team from turning on civilians and to focus them on survival, finding out who Tattletale really is if they really exist and to out the people behind the blog.

Alba uses martial arts and minor energy powers but still has access to her Silverflame abilities which she keeps hidden and has disguised the special effect for.

NB: Nice work people. Vote time. do we continue and do perhaps some minor members who supply the group or ex-members (ie dead) or do we start another group ?

All right then, how about "The 20th Century Limited"?

Five members at present--they started when three villains who had an obsession with particular decades of the Twentieth Century (1901-2000) met up and found they worked well together, despite their clashing motifs.  They've since been actively trying to recruit people to represent the other decades, even if they aren't as obsessive about it.  The group primarily does armed robbery of money or easily salable commodities (they're not completely crazy) but sometimes pull themed crimes to steal collectibles from a given decade.

So at least three should be genuinely obsessed, and one should be just adopting the motif to stay in the gang.

Sound good?

SS. Some people always play the bad guys. Hans Schrier certainly did. He is obsessed with the 2nd World War particularly the 40s and dresses like a member of the Waffen SS which people find disquieting at best and insulting at worst. He dresses usually in field uniform so that he can hide in the country. Otherwise he wears black SS dress uniform. He is surprisingly able to take quite a beating (which is what happens when most heroes sse him as no-one can stand a Nazi, even a pretend one) and uses period guns when he can.

Little Bertha is Bertha Beckenridge, the great granddaughter of 1920's actress of the same name. She dresses like her great grandmother's movie persona (which is basically a 'me too' of Mary Pickford's Little Mary character). She is obsessed with the films of the great grandmother. And her powers? She is able to create 'hypersound' to various effects. All without saying a word (unless you can hear in the hypersound range).

Green Back is Warren Worth. His love for money and need to ruin others have allowed him to pattern his modus after other rich financiers more interested in the dollar than their employees. He supplies the means the others use to carry out their crimes. He sometimes supplies the targets.

Replikant is a lizardish alien whose invasion army is all itself.  With access to enough food, it can produce a new one of itself in three minutes.  It likes the taste of human flesh, but is able to use any carbon-based life form as fodder.  The other Invader Seven who happen to be carbon-based plan to kill it with fire once it has served its purpose, Replikant plans to eat them once they've served theirs.

Cyslax

Of the same race as Nebula, this alien uses a machine which allows her to appear as others which is very useful on Earth. Her original idea was to hide in the background and manipulate things quietly but the appearance of Vibron and Nebula, Slug's machinations, the activities of the shapechanging Masq and Firewing's presence made her re-evaluate the situation. She is much more ruthless than the others having already eliminated several others who were 'unsuitable' for working as a group. She knows what Replikant plans for them when they have succeeded so has poisoned her own flesh so that if he eats her he'll die. It might not come to that as a couple of others are aware that she is employing the 'Predator' option i.e. if I am going to die then everyone else goes with me quasi nuke. She is the infiltration and security systems expert of the group. She is perpetually downcast and grim except when in disguise.

Also part of the group is Sev-Zar-Sev , a member of a mechanoid race called The Gatcha who invade planets for resources for their mass production machines. He himself is purely designed for planning and design. He is protected by a war-dog-robot named Un-Rov-Un, and his mass production spaceship named Tsu-San is hidden in an asteroid field.

Name loosely based on Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets
