Janice Veidt always had other people picking what she did and how she did it. She longed to break away but that was not allowed. And family and those with influence were going to make sure she toed the line especially after she sabotaged the attempt to make her Prom Queen. She wanted to go to the East Coast for university but she was enrolled in California instead. Her job was chosen as well so that she could bring no scandal at all onto her family or anyone else. She wanted to marry for love but instead was paired off for dynastic reasons with an upcoming lawyer. Then her diet and drink were altered so she would be fertile and have multiple children. Two children, one of each followed and then she was steered into being on the right committees, going to the right places and being seen with the right people. Janice still chafed at her life. And nothing would have changed as her children went to university and her husband progressed in his career.

Fate had other plans. An ordinary day with the exception of the fact that supervillains had hit a jewellery exhibition and were attempting to make their getaway. With the Local Law Enforcement officials and vigilantes in hot pursuit. Blasts and gunfire were going everywhere and every which way. Reacting instinctively Janice pushed a child out of harm's way. She heard a voice that said 'You'll do !'

Next thing she was hit by energy which should have killed her. Turns out one of the villains did not like providence sparing people and so tried to eliminate such agents. Janice was empowered instead of destroyed. Her participation was crucial in turning the tide and recovering the stolen items.

Janice has reinvented herself and now has the power to ignore the wishes and wants of her family and so called friends. She is now Jana after the Roman God Janus who was in charge of second chances. She has some invulnerability, some energy powers but not a vast amount and the ability to deflect bullets or energy from people.

Her children and husband are horrified. How could she do this ? So are her parents and other relations. But Janice can now do something that her family can do nothing about nor can they control.

Next one gives us the minimum.

Jana's closest friend in Second Chance is Fiona Stewart. She too suffered from an arranged marriage; in her case, as the trophy wife of a wealthy widower financier, Hezechiah Stewart. She tried to be a dutiful wife for the sake of her family. She did not encourage young men who paid her attention; she was faithful in her May-to-November marriage. It didn't matter. Her husband still was insanely jealous. Fortunately, he suffered a stroke in one of his jealous rages and died. Unfortunately, Fiona still wasn't free: Hezechiah's possessive obsession led to him becoming a ghost. (You'll find him in Creatures of the Night: Horror Enemies, as The Haunt.) He murdered his wife and made her a ghost, too -- his wife for eternity.

That was almost a century ago.

Devious circumstances led to Second Chance entering Hezechiah Stewart's long-vacant house. They fought the Haunt, and gave Fiona new hope. She turned on her husband and helped the heroes destroy him. The old house burned. She expected to go to her own eternal reward then, but didn't. She was free for the first time in her... existence. Terrified yet exhilarated, she joined as their latest member (so far,), Ghost Girl. (Fiona is new at this hero name thing.)

For a few days now, I'd thought of posting a new team concept since it had been so long since anyone posted, but was too busy with other things. I won't object if anyone has additional members for Second Chance, but I'd ;like to propose the next team. It's the same concept as the PCs in my current campaign, but I'd like to see what other people could make of it in the Champions Universe.

In the Superheroic Age, the future faces deadly peril. Forget the official CU timeline with the Alien Wars, Terran Empire, and all that. That's only one possibility. Many of the possibilities are dreadful. Several current supervillains have the potential to end the human race and the world... or inflict horrors without end.

Even in those doomed futures, there are heroes -- likewise doomed, because it's too late. But what if someone could go back in time to make sure that future never happened? Enter Captain Chronos! He has rescued six doomed heroes and brought them back to the early 21st century to defeat the villains before they can destroy the world. They are the Avant Guard.

Pick the villain who dooms the world. The likes of Doctor Destroyer, Takofanes or Mechanon are easy choices, but hey, if you can think of a way to make Bulldozer a Destroyer of Worlds, great! Give a brief description of the dark future, and then that last hero who's going down fighting before Captain Chronos finds him, her, or it.

The Serious Man

Captain Chronos actually hesitated in recruiting The Serious Man, because his world's end was very dangerous even to Chronos. His world was literally dissolving into nothingness, his entire universe ceasing to be. But nevertheless, the good Captain felt it was the only way.

The Serious Man's powers are subtle. Everything around him becomes, for lack of a better term, a little more real. Powers that warp the laws of physics stop being able to do so. Chemistry starts working on very hard and strict laws. Energy beams can exist, but if you want to bounce a shot - well, better make sure that mirror is pretty much optically perfect.

Why was this important? Because he was up against a force that was making everything UNreal. making it fake, false, a creation of a diseased mind. The universe cannot hold itself together without effective constants, and now there were no constants. For years earlier, a strange and warped mind had discovered a way to impose his worldview on the entire universe. Now, The Serious Man must find and stop that crazed individual.

He must stop Foxbat.

I suddenly noticed as well which is why I posted a new member, so thanks for finishing the team.

It is bad enough when one team of supervillains turns up. Now imagine the chaos when not one, not two but three turn up. This was the work of The Futurists who managed to get The Ultimates, Eurostar and The Brain Trust to attack the Meldrum laboratory complex. This led (apparently) to a giant radioactive black hole that destroyed the area and had a chain reaction that resulted in world wide cataclysms.

Captain Chronos managed to retrieve Stella Crane known as Dusk who was trying to stop the villains and prevent damage to the plant which caused the destruction. Her knowledge of computer programming and security systems enabled her to create simulations of what happened. All runs have convinced her that all of these groups must be prevented from going near the complex or anywhere else where similar work is done. Consequently she has been trying to throw spanners into the works of all these groups. But she is worried that someone else might have worked on any of these groups. Dr Destroyer ? Menton ? The Crowns of Krim ? She does not know but it will keep her busy.

Mongoose

Captain Chronos pulled the hero formerly known as Iron Tiger from a world devastated by VIPER. The organization had released a virus that caused monstrous serpent mutations in those it infected. The virus was more powerful and unpredictable than even VIPER realized and quickly spread out of control. Arriving in this reality the martial arts master changed his identity to Mongoose to reflect his battle against VIPER. He now tries to dismantle the vile snakes before they can develop the dangerous poison and doom the world. His time is running out however as he has been infected by the virus himself and it only his iron will and training in spiritual techniques that stave off it's affects for now.

Captain Chronos found a speedster called Celerity who is not after a villain per se but someone who is supposed to be a hero. Nebula had a bad habit of sending every person who attacked her to the prison dimension of Duress. Eventually that broke and a whole army of supervillains was released. In the ensuing chaos the world was destroyed. What is not clear is who and how ? The only thing that is clear is that it has to do with NebulaCelerity is therefore trying to stop Nebula from sending anyone else to Duress but also to find out who she sent there and to stop them from the destruction of time itself.

Celerity has also recognised that the team needs a balance so that it can find other threats and stop them. Maybe that will have a ripple effect and stop others from succeeding.

(I have an idea for the next hero team which someone else can use if they wish. As in the villain thread we have villains who have killed a hero, how about a member of a hero team who has killed a villain ? Only this time it is the other heroes who believe that one of their number has crossed the line and killed the villain, they do not know for certain. So for a team minimum of five hero A believes hero b killed the villain. The first person who posts would name at least two heroes which means that the subsequent posters would have at least one or more heroes to name or to choose the name of the hero involved. The first poster would also name the team.)

  • 3 weeks later...

And the thread's stalled again. OK, I'll fill out the last two and then someone else can begin a new team. If people want to develop DT's suggerstion, go ahead.

Plenty of people knew that Necrull was dangerous, as well as utterly icky. People only realized how dangerous when the villain Borealis sought to cleanse the world of him... but wasn't under an aurora when they met... and Necrull won, and "harvested" one of Borealis' arms. Then a hero team caught up with Necrull at his  ellesmere Island hideout, or he let himself be found by them, and there was an aurora in the sky. He slew them all, his own powers -- all of them -- boosted as Borealis' had been.

And the war began. Heroes first; but more than a few villains, too, sought to destroy Necrull... in self-defense, if for no other reason, as the madman stalked superbeings of greater power to harvest them. Pretty soon, governments got involved, too.

Three months into it, after the People's Republic of China tried to stop Necrull with a nuclear device, he retaliated with bioweapons. His message to the world as he released the plagues was, "Now look what you made me do."

As humanity died by the hundreds of millions, Necrull sought the only person who could equal or surpsass his mastery of biology: the supervillain Teleios, self-proclaimed "Perfect Man." He especially wanted Teleios' cloning technology. Teleios fought back, and figured out how to destroy Necrull -- but it was too late, for him and for the world. Necrull killed Teleios before he could deploy his living weapons, and seized the Perfect Man's technology for his own.

The world Captain Chronos fpound consisted of Necrull, a few dozen of his surviving Necrullticians, and several concrete bunkers full of cloning tanks where Necrull and his acolytes grew batches of humans who awoke only to be immediately slain for their flesh. And thus would the world remain until the Sun itself died.

But Captain Chronos rescued one of Teleios' living weapons: a woman -- a... daughter? -- engineered with incredible powers of regeneration and overflowing life-force that enabled her to heal the wounds of others. She was, of course, as physicially perfect as her "father." As Immortal, she fights villainy with the rest of Avant Guard. She also makes sure that the others survive their vattles, and heals innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire. If she has time, she visits hospitals to heal other people, too. And when she does so, her hands glow green and leave smears of a green liquid on her patients.

That last is pure special effects trickery. A final lure to draw Necrull to her. If she and Avant Guard cannot find any other way to destroy him, Immortal will sacrifice part of her own body in hopes that Necrull -- thinking her powers come from the same source as his own, but perfected -- will graft her flesh to his own. And will burn as her true life-force purges his corpus of the ersatz life force that has sustained him for so long.

Immortal also hopes to confront her "father" Teleios. She knows he is a menace as great as Necrull; but in worthier hands, his biotechnology could achieve great good instead of great harm. If Immortal gets her way and shares the secrets of Teleios with the world, she will surely change the world beyond recognition. But will humanity use such power wisely, or will she doom the world in turn?

Doctor Sebastian Poe, discoverer of the Psi-Serum and founder of the Parapsychological Studies Institute, spent 20 years in Stronghold for his crimes. The U. S. government (and a few others that infiltrated agents) offered to reduce his sentence if he shared the secret of the Ps-Serum. He refused. Then the government tried threats. D. Poe stood firm. Then government telepaths tried to wrest the secret from his mind; but Dr. Poe's mind was stronger. Dr. Poe also spent years becoming a pretty good jailhouse lawyer -- good enough to balk attempts to extend his sentence. Right on schedule, he walked out of Stronghold a free man.

A few weeks later, Dr. Poe slipped the agents surveilling him and escaped to a small country that didn't extradite well-heeled criminals. He sold Psi-Serum empowerment to anyone who could pay.

A year after that, Poe activated the psychic and genetic conditioning he'd implanted with the new, improved Psi-Serum. More than a dozen loyal, super-powered psychics began hunting Poe's treacherous former disciples in PSI. Not all of PSI's members died, but the organization was effectively destroyed. The New PSI took its place, with Dr. Poe firmly in charge.

While in Stronghold, Dr. Poe learned a lot about power and control from other imprisoned villains. The New PSI soon went beyond ordinary crime to subverting governments. When Dr. Poe died, 17 years after leaving Stronghold, he covertly dominated 11 countries, with significant influence in dozens more.

The civil war within PSI over who would succeed Dr. Poe split the organization three ways, but each faction had the Psi-Serum and unslaked ambition. Gheir leaders kept conquering. They also became more aggressive in murdering other superbeings who interfered with their plans.

In another 50 years, the spin-offs of PSI ruled the world. From then on, wars consisted of turf battles between ruling cabals. The psionic aristocracies warred quite a lot, interspersed with occasional marriage treaties to secure temporary truces. They mostly reserved the Psi-Serum for their own progeny.

Selective breeding and research into technological enhancement increased their powers further. By the 25th century, all the major dynasties possessed psionic weapons of mass destruction. Decades passed in a tense stalemate.

Maybe someone miscalculated and a bluff was called. Maybe a covert scheme went awry. Maybe one of the living weapons went mad under the strain of their own power. Or maybe one of the people who had illegally obtained Psi-Serum empowerment went too far. (Freedom fighter? Freelancce criminal? Crazed terrorist? These all existed.) However the war started, it escalated beyond Mutually Assured Destruction into complete spasm. Hardly anyone survived. Captain Chronos saw that humanity would go extinct within a few hundred more years.

But there had been people who fought their tyrannical psychic overlords. Captain Chronos rescued one of the strongest of them, who was also one of the most principled in wanting freedom for everyone and not just power for himself. The Freethinker readily joined Avant Guard to forestall the rise of Dr. Poe and the New PSI. His telepathic powers are invaluable in locating villains and their minions, and extracting the details of their evil schemes.

Next up: Whatever anyone wants.

New Team: Union

It took years but eventually Cyrus Gleinister was unmasked as The Dark Prince. The hero team Union captured him and had to hold him at an empty office block as the prisons were overcrowded and there were specific security implications that had to be addressed before the villain was transferred. Apart from the overcrowding issue a number of high profile escape attempts from maximum security prisons were either in progress or were being thwarted. Police and other law enforcement agencies including other hero teams were stretched to breaking point. This meant that their holding facilities were full as well.

No formal interrogation had taken place and legal firms were not willing to represent Cyrus as a client and no Public Defender or Defense Attorney was available due to what was happening across this part of the States. Supposedly all the work of The Dark Prince. A master manipulator he had made innocent people do criminal actions and also levered influence on those in power so that he became one of the most reviled individuals in existence. A full list of his alleged crimes would undoubtedly lead to the death penalty many times over.

The team had to take turns covering the villain while law enforcement struggled to cover a crime wave and civil disturbance. During this time they were all alone with him at times and he goaded all of them as he seemed to know things about all of them and took pleasure in baiting one and all about their weaknesses or turning their triumphs against them. Each of the team saw another have close to a violent or highly charged confrontation with the villain. And then he exploded leaving little by the way of remains other than viscera and dust. He had vowed he would never face imprisonment or the courts. A forensic examination indicated that he was dead and gone and that none of the team 'seemed' to have any involvement with his demise. Except members of the team believe that one of their number was responsible for his death. Thing is they all suspect a different member.

Your mission should you choose to accept it is to list a member of the team and why they suspect another member.

For reference Cyrus is dead as those with appropriate powers can readily attest.

Cyrus had most of one floor to himself but could not escape although he had tried. The explosion damaged one corner of the building but not seriously.

There was no trace of an explosive when Cyrus was arrested but as the explosion was internal there were no ways to check for this.

And no-one is going rogue working with the opposition or had worked with Cyrus previously.

Minimum 5 maximum 7.

The group is large and has ten full members and other ten who are temporary, are freelancers or are retired medically or otherwise.

You can name as many of the group as you like but be aware of what other people have said.

And this is not about solving the crime but about the group itself. After all it might have been suicide.

The media did not know the villain was in custody.

Every team has the one bucking against authority and Street Hawk is the persistent headache of Union. He dealt with street level crime before he joined the team and this continues to occupy his attention. A minor speedster he has martial arts ability and also has increased strength and endurance but nothing like the levels of a true brick. Street Hawk witnessed the team leader Bastion talking to Cyrus and it appeared that the righteous prig was even threatening the villain but it was one of these things were people stop speaking when you enter the room. Cyrus had said a couple of things that made Bastion either stalk up to him or make finger pointing gestures at him that Street Hawk recalls seeing. Cyrus had definitely gotten under everyone's skin and made made them all unsettled, angry or upset. Hawk was out of the building making perimeter sweeps and running errands i.e. shopping immediately before Cyrus died. He arrived seven minutes before the event. And the last person Hawk recalls seeing anywhere near Cyrus was Bastion. Had the team leader decided to rid the world of the vile stain to cover up what The Dark Prince had done ? Was he protecting someone else in the team ? He was remarkably calm in the aftermath, perhaps too calm. And he was the one in charge of the rota saying who was on guard and when so he was in perfect position to arrange the villain's death.

Hawk and Bastion have an antagonistic history with the former disobeying his leader on many an occasion for multiple reasons which is why Hawk has not said anything yet.

Bastion is a brick for reference.

Well that was an unmitigated disaster. Nothing in just under 9 months.

I will give three options based on what I have read of all the hero and villain threads for a new team.

1) A team of heroes who actually kill their opponents rather than arrest them. The police and other law enforcement agencies have yet to bring them to book on this. 5-7 members. They all know what is going on.

2) A team based in New York. Surprise, surprise we don't have one as yet. I have a hero I forgot all about for this.

3) This is the one that will get me in trouble. Hot Young Witches. Backed by MegaCorp, this is the third attempt at the team and maybe three is the charm. They have to be over the age of 16 and below 30, use magic and be very good looking. Any ethnicity. Minimum 3 members.

Actually, I have one for Union. (I honestly hadn't opened this thread for awhile and hadn't seen the team before today.)

Darkraven is the team's investigator and forensics specialist (as befits her "day job" as an ME). She's considered less "street" than Street Hawk, both because of her more clinical approach and because she does actually have obvious powers (including low level flight).

It was she who examined The Dark Prince's remains, and while she was unable to determine the cause of the detonation or the explosive used, she realised she had seen something similar, years ago, when an entire room full of gangsters were vaporised...gangsters that Street Hawk had been trying to take down for months. Plus, everyone had heard Street Hawk threaten to go "gloves off" to the Prince before - they hadn't thought much of it, it was part of Street Hawk's modus operandi, but with 20/20 hindsight...

And as no-one else has chimed in with a new team, I'll continue with the old one.

Karen Forbes was troubled. The Dark Prince was dead and she felt one of her colleagues had done it. And everyone was looking at everyone else and blaming them. The way Street Hawk was looking at Bastion but their problems were an ongoing thing. She got the idea that some of them were looking at her as well. Mind you she had been dragged away from the villain as they had gotten into a real screaming match, the worst that any of them had been involved in and she had said that 'she would kill him'. It was over the drug bust at the port. He implied she had covered up just how much had been seized and arranged the deaths of the police and civilians as organised crime looked for the missing product. She could tolerate being called a thief but not a callous killer nor a sick mind that would lead others to be slaughtered in the way those innocents had been. Besides they all thought he was the one responsible. He double crossed people. He had done it before. Bastion had read her the riot act after that. But none of the team had done it, she was sure.

No, Karen's thought process led her to Mindpower who was on sick leave. The Dark Prince had bee responsible for a wave of bomb attacks and someone close to Mindpower had been killed. Grief hit him hard and he could not concentrate on their work so he went on long term sick. The explosives had all been different and some of them had not been traced. Could one at least have been recovered and brought in ? Mindpower had assisted Darkraven before the fatal attack. His whole demeanour had changed when they saw him, crushed, defeated.

But he had turned up unexpectedly the day before Cyrus died. He was happy, just popping in to see people and was there for what five minutes before Bastion turned up and asked him to go. He seemed to acquiesce too quickly and quietly. Did he set something up ? He could have if he had subtly used his powers.

Karen is known as The Maiden of Might and is also a brick but is stronger than Bastion although he has a greater variety of combat techniques.

I'll finish off the team.

Indy 5 (short for Indianapolis 500 as he got his powers whilst at the famous race) is the speedster of Union and one of the less combat orientated members of the team. The others do a lot of combat stuff but Indy wears light kevlar to stop being shot. He depends on not being hit and is careful to avoid the people who throw area effect attacks. Indy has a horrible suspicion that The Maiden of Might is responsible for The Dark Prince's death. He was one of those who had to drag her away from him after he made certain accusations about the drug bust at the port. She had been under strain of late and this might have broken her. Certainly while some of the drugs might have been spirited out under their noses, she would never do such a thing herself nor endanger anyone else.

However Cyrus had made certain insinuations about him as well. There had been a number of killings carried out by a speedster who had shot people and then ran away and Cyrus implied that 'he knew Indy was the one who did it'. Not true but Cyrus went on that it would not sound so good to a jury so if he could turn the other way he would simply leave unmolested. It was when he made the cheap jibes about his family and the hospital visits he undertook that Indy had lost his temper and snapped at the villain. Scraper, their giant, and Touchstone had caught the tail end of it and walked him away from Cyrus. Bastion naturally told him off but not to the degree he did to The Maiden of Might after her run in with The Dark Prince.

After that they had doubled up but there were still gaps when they had all been on their own with him. And The Maiden knew all sorts of people who could surely arrange something like this, after all she was owe favours. But would she really do that ?

The organisers of the Indianapolis 500 know about Indy 5 because no-one is going to call him Indianapolis 500 and the shortened version works for all concerned.

Bastion, the team leader of Union thinks that Touchstone is the one who might have done it. Every member of the team had been needled by the villain and Bastion had warned Cyrus about this although the villain threw it right back in his face. He had also warned all of them to be aware of the villain's tricks as he might easily slip away in any form of confusion. But with the chaos that Cyrus had arranged it meant that they were stuck there babysitting him until either a court appearance or a secure cell opened up.

While some of the jibes and slander Cyrus threw at them was par for the course such as the port drug bust and Maiden's part in it and his own killing of Stack Edwards which was a 50-50 call, a couple of his colleagues had not opened up about exactly what Cyrus had said to them that had gotten under their skin. Touchstone was one of those that had not said anything although Bastion had been told that Cyrus had said something to her that caused her to get up close to him and say make an angry, unheard reply. He had tried to make her talk but emergencies outside had stopped that in its tracks.

Touchstone was also one of the most close lipped members of the group, not talking about her past or some of her activities. As an energy projector she could do a number of things except explosions. But she had been practicing with her powers. Could she have thrown an explosion and put it on delay ? Could she mask her own energy signature ?

The Mighty Metropolitans

New York has seen many super teams and this is the latest. The team is comprised of six members. Three veteran heroes who were all previously part of New York based teams that have gone defunct for various reasons and three younger heroes getting their big break. Themes to explore are the veteran heroes past, the leadership dynamic, the clash between experienced and rookie heroes etc.

Skydancer

Laurie Perrin was a late blooming mutant with the power of flight. She's very fast, very manouverable and has reaction speeds in the nanosecond range.

Laurie was part of the "young and beautiful" crowd, pretty much still is. She has a tendency not to take things as seriously as her team mates, though she isn't as shallow as many think her to be. She doesn't have time for long-winded lectures from her "elders" on the team, she got enough of that from her parents - and didn't listen to them either. But if someone wants to sit down and discuss an issue with her, she's all ears.

Skydancer is strong and fit, but her only actual power is her flight. That doesn't stop her doing multiple move-by attacks on agents or grabbing a supervillain and propelling him into the side of a building.

(Thank you Quackhell for picking a New York team. And welcome back)

'Tec

The investigator of the group is Saul Cranley. Unlike some of the investigating crowd he can take a bit of a hit and still keep going. He knows police procedure and how to deal with a crime scene, what clues are relevant and which might be red herrings. The name is short for Detective although some people think it relates to technological devices and try to hit him with EMPs or similar with little to no effect. He was part of a team before hand and can teach the youngsters a few things like proper liaison with the police and other authorities, team work and beware of your contacts and allies as they could turn on you at a moment's notice. You see Paul is under a curse. He cannot leave New York City. That is the price he pays for crossing The Sybll like his friend The Flying Dutchman. Trying to leave the city leaves him feeling ill and actual removal leaves him comatose. Returning to the city will restore him but it takes time.

(In 2011 I did the Flying Dutchman and only when putting the team in a document did I realise that I had not done any of the other members of the team although I had outline the curse effects on some of them like never being able to go to the States again, never leaving the water for more than an hour, never being able to leave New York and losing their powers. That is why I wanted to do a New York team)

Manhattan Skyline

Like Skydancer, this is another flier but he can fire energy blasts which overwhelm the optic nerves with images of the sights of the building of Manhattan. This causes people to feel dizzy and they need to steady themselves or it can leave them momentarily stunned or knock them out. The problem being the more an individual fights him the more accustomed they become to this attack.

DeShawn Jones was a member of Teen New York which imploded after several members were killed on a routine callout. He defers to Saul because he feels he lacked the basics and that could have helped him and his team mates. Also Saul knows how to work a crime scene and works smoothly with the police which again was something his prior team did not do.

He envies Laurie's speed and reaction time and he is trying to teach her how to use her flight for crowd control, surveillance and how to be aware of not being drawn into a trap while travelling at speed and through the maze of buildings in the city. He flies behind her and to one side unless there is a specific need for him to lead.

He can slow his flight speed so he can fine tune attacks but also do a rapid movement in order to destroy/confuse missiles launched at him

He is known affectionally as Manny by the media and the public

Citymaster joined out of a sense of obligation. He'd been part of Street Force back in the 80's, a group of low-level heroes protecting their neighbourhoods and getting together for major problems like Viper. He was the juniormost member, and had been well instructed by his elders, like Harlem Warrior and High Rise. So far as he knows, he's the only member still active.

William Washington has progressed a fair bit in his technological understanding since then, and the Citymaster armour is no longer considered low-level. It's still a bit less well armoured than many other suits, but makes up for it in speed and evasive capability - it's very much the opposite of the lumbering power suit. With tear-gas projectors, net guns and stun bomb launchers, he's well positioned to take on agents and mooks, but needs to get up close and personal with his shock gauntlets for real supervillains.

William is seeking to pass on to a new generation the lessons that were taught to him by his mentors, as well as continue to protect the city he loves as long as he can.

Huracán

Diego Alvarez is barely a year into his career and is a legacy hero. His grandmother fought crime in the 70s as the wind controlling La Tormenta. Diego is much less powerful however as he can only create a swirling vortex around his body. He uses this to accelerate his strikes and provide some protection from damage. He operated in East Harlem against low level street crime and was out of the spotlight. Then he defeated the violent killer Red Hook and gained media attention. This led to recruitment to the team and he finds himself a bit overwhelmed. He thinks he merely got lucky in defeating Red Hook and feels like a weak link on the team. He is happy for the advice and instruction he receives from 'Tec, Citymaster and Manhattan Skyline. He is a bit intimidated by Skydancer and her outgoing personality. She has tried to encourage him to try and focus his power to allow him to fly and project blasts of wind, but he hasn't managed to master those abilities yet.
