They're generally ground feeders; they are in my backyard and I frequently see them on the ground under the bird feeders, I almost never see them on a feeder. Cancer Posted February 19, 2021 Report Share Posted February 19, 2021 One of these guys (that's a male Varied Thrush; the females are more muted in color) showed up in the yard after the heavy snow a couple of days back. In almost every other species besides ourselves, the males have to put on the display and make the effort to attract the females.
