Today's Trio: Three Songs About Sports and/or Games

Centerfield by John Fogerty

Race with Devil on Spanish Highway by Al Di Meola (a borderline call on applicability to the theme, but ...)

Turn of a Friendly Card, parts one and two, by the Alan Parsons Project

Today's Trio: Three Songs About Sports and/or Games

"One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head (Chess)

"Theme" from Chariots of Fire by Vangelis (Olympic games)

And special recognition to the band Five for Fighting, named for a penalty in ice hockey.

Most of my road trip music tends to be associated with the '70s, with Dad driving the Volkswagen camper, Mom navigating, and me in the back (or sitting on a folding chair wedged between the front seats--no seat belts for us!). Invariably, the radio was tuned to some AM station (no FM on its radio) playing a mix of stuff that would now be considered Country. These three fall into the special category of "trucker songs", which seemed to be everywhere back in the mid-70s.

"Convoy" by CW McCall

"East Bound and Down" by Jerry Reed

"Teddy Bear" by Red Sovine
