Bazza
Ooh, I'd kind of forgotten about this thread. Thanks for the bump, Baz! No problems (although I responded to the poster above mine) and as Monday comes to me before you ( ) and today being Sunday and all, that gives me all of today to think of the next theme. Cancer
Warning: The first two of these originally came out in c. 1967-71. The last is a particular performance in the 1980s. Build Me Up Buttercup by the Foundations. Used to be that this one popped up occasionally on the music piped in at the supermarket I go to most frequently, but they seem to have changed their tape or something so it's been a few years. Evil Woman by Crow. (Bless other obscure music buffs who edit Wikipedia.) Nothing like the hit of the same title by Electric Light Orchestra much later. I haven't heard this one since 1971, I am certain. Point Blank by Bruce Springsteen, a particular live performance in Austin TX in the early 1980s that was taped by the local radio station; terrifically evocative, much more so than the studio release. Eventually they played the tape to destruction, and I believe I heard the last time that poor, stretched tape was played on air.

Bazza
Bad Company Shooting Star Fairport Convention (Sand Denny) - Fotheringay Vera Lynn - We'll Meet Again* Bonus: Tal Bachman - She's So High * not really a favourite per say (wrong era), but the song is so iconic it transcends mere favoritism.
