Creating/editing export formats is on you (or on you to find someone to do it for you). You're looking to implement a rule variant that is not part of character creation (which is what HD focuses on). It can be done, but you're going to need to put some work in to do it.

The text of any ability can be edited (in full) through the remarkably tricky mechanism of clicking on it (the text) and editing it. Any ability with text edited in this manner will be displayed (within HD) in blue to indicate that the display may not match the ability construction.

"To a degree." = One or more characters of your choice? I mean, sure...completely blank/empty will revert to the default writeup, but that's hardly limiting.

What Legendsmiths said. The PDF export (as always) is a fixed format (non-editable). For editable exports, you want to use the standard export format file structure (not the PDF).

if you're referring to the notes on the STR characteristic, that is also up to the export format.

That is a function of the export format that you are using (and would need to be changed within the export format) -- the extent to which HD is involved is to track the weight of a given item and whether or not it's "carried" - everything else is in the export format, likely making use of either JavaScript or the MATH tags.

Answer remains the same: you are not running HD from a directory that you have full access to.

Are you sure you're thinking of HD and not HERO Combat Manager?

Run HD from a directory that you have full access to -- it will remember the last folder you use for characters, prefabs, templates, etc....but only if it can write the appPrefs.xml file when it's run.

Also explained on the download page - your system either does not have Java installed (a prerequisite for running HD) or does not have it properly configured. If the former, get java from www.java.com. If the latter, google "jarfix" -- the first result will have a small app you can run to fix the file associations on your system (for .jar files).

As stated on the download page: double-click on HD6.jar to launch HD.

Wow...the CDs haven't been sold for a LONG time. Didn't realize there was still anyone out there using that version... All purchases for HD are download-only -- you can access the download by going to the Purchases section of your Client Area on this site. Store -> Manage Purchases or Store -> Client Area -> Purchases.

Just go to your account settings and change it - no need for an admin to do it.

Most likely cause: you have HD set to remember dialog position and size and the Modifier dialog is positioned outside of the boundaries of your screen (because you copied the folder from another system, changed your screen setup/resolution, or simply positioned it at an extreme). Delete the appPrefs.xml file before starting HD and all settings will be reset.

Hmm....not able to replicate that one, but there's only one place that it could have been occurring (a change made in the last update that wasn't really needed). I've got a new update file posted that should fix it.

Post the trace.log file after the problem occurs. Also, posting the .hdc file in question wouldn't be a bad idea...

It is not a bug - it is the only way that it can logically work, unless you prefer the idea of a power being built (potentially a complex build) and added to an MP...and then deleted when you move it down and out of the MP (accidentally or not) as it then exceeds the max points available and the campaign is set to not allow that (vs. just warn or ignore).

You'd need to create a custom rules template (.hdt) for that, redefining the Characteristics that you want to recost and removing those that you want to eliminate.
