  1. Are posts like experience points? Would someone with alot of posts be considered someone with alot of adventuring experience? How many posts does it take to reach a new level? Perhaps only certain options should be available to someone with less posts. As you reach a new level, you are allowed more options on the messageboards. Perhaps a 5th level member has more fonts or size options or smilies than a 0-level member.
  2. If someone bumps a dead thread, is it now an undead thread? Does it have all the powers of an undead thread? Does it then drain the life out of other threads if it touches them? Can you turn an undead thread with a holy smiley? If you have a large number of posts and you attempt to turn an undead thread with a holy smiley, will the thread disintegrate?
  3. In honor of my previous post: I'm not conceited. Conceited people think they're right, I KNOW I'm right. Once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.
  4. - I find it interesting how certain posters speak here in forums for debate with extreme surety about the motivations and aspects of other human beings (such as politicians, for example). They posit as if human nature was an open book to them and a closed book to all others. However, those people often seem so surprised and defensive when their opinions are challenged. Isn't the act of 'constantly questioning', one of humanity's most basic tenets? -I also find it curious that certain posters (such as those mentioned above, and others) often present and then defend ALL of their opinions with absolute certainty. What if they were asked the question, "So then, you are ALWAYS right?" Don't you think they'd answer - "Of course not. Nobody is always right." Simple odds probably makes even the smartest person wrong 50% of the time. So I ask everyone - "What are you willing to admit that you might be wrong about?"
  5. Unfortunately, I can't participate in this thread. All of my musings are meticulously planned, forming a distinct pattern.
  6. I also seem to remember something from the 'official' Champions timeline saying that the 'age of superheroes' ends by 2020 or so. Not that Ravenspath needs to abide by that though.
  7. Unnecessarily and incorrectly harsh. http://www.foresight.org/NanoRev/FIFAQ1.html#FAQ8 Development in molecular nanotechnology is expected to continue at an accelerating pace, given that funding for this types of research is increasingly available. While estimates range from 15 to 50 years, there is no question that nanotechnology will arrive in the not-too-distant future. Experimental work has already resulted in the production of molecular tweezers, a carbon nanotube transistor, and logic gates. We have even seen researchers create an artificial muscle using nanotubes, which may have medical applications in the nearer term. Naturally occurring diamondoid building blocks, Building metallic circuits with DNA, Carbon Nanotubes, Nanowires, DNA Actuators, Vibrational Spectroscopy, Mechanochemistry, Supramolecular systems, and many forms of nanomedicine are deep into the theoretical stages.
  8. In my experience, your average 350pt superhero should be able to handle 3-4 VIPER Agents. However, as I'm sure you know different factors can enter into this: -Are their specialist agents? Psionic super could decimate many agents, but what if they Psi-suppression tech or such? -Do you have some supers who are more effective in noncombat areas?, ie., they're generally weaker in combat than most supers. 2-3 agents might be able to take this guy with a somewhat lucky shot. -Do your characters have a decent speedster? In my experience, high SPD characters decimate Agents because they don't have the DEF to resist the speedsters attacks like most supervillains do. -The reverse of my second suggestion. For example, Ironclad is built primarily for combat. If used properly he could take out double the usual number of agents. If you have a character like this, you'll want to increase the agents. This all breaks down somewhat as you get more agents involved. Each super may be able to handle 4 agents individually. However, 4 supers against 16 agents could get dicey. 16 agents could really team up to take out a couple supers quickly. For 4 average supers, I'd go with 10-12 agents. Play up the agents teamwork abilities and you've got a tough fight in my opinion.
  9. -Not my site, found it a couple years ago -The site is not just awesome. It's awesomely awesome! My favorite series' are X-Factor and Spectrum. Young Champions is pretty good too.
  10. My third character in Champions was named Spectrum (#2 was Starlord, this was probably back in the late 80s). He was a teen hero. Here's another Spectrum with his own stories: http://www.hhproductions.footsiesbiz.com/titles/spectrum/specidx2.htm There was also a pretty nifty villain group name SPECTRUM in an old Champions Presents supplement.
  11. What's important is how and if these common limitations are actually enforced. A good Protective of Innocents disad should be watched closely. 'Real' superheroes clear the battlefield of innocents or try to move the combat location away from civilians for instance. You shouldn't just be given a free 10-20 points simply because all heroes supposedly 'protect the innocent'. Let's see you actually DO it, instead of immediately jumping into glorious combat the second you get the chance.

    Human Limits

Now that I think about it, isn't there another female archer in CKC?

    Human Limits

HEY! Will you please stop with all the obvious logic and common sense? People are trying to have an NCM debate here!

    Human Limits

Whew! 12 posts into the debate and nobody has brought up Rainbow Archer yet. Keep up the good work people!
  15. I'm pretty sure they faced off in the first Contest of Champions as well. I seem to recall DD winning after blinding 'Fist with a snowball.

    Human Limits

An NCM debate has DOOM written all over it... No superhero is human. Batman is not human, Nightwing is not human. Their 'shtick' is that they 'play humans'. In reality, they're superheroes. NO HUMAN CAN SWING FROM ROOFTOP TO ROOFTOP BOUNCING OFF FLAGPOLES LIKE HE'S STROLLING THROUGH THE PARK. Therefore, most limits are off when it comes to superheroes. Batman's superhero schtick/origin/motif/niche is that he's a real human, but let's be honest Batman might as well be Superman when compared to a supposed 'normal' human. When Cap yells something like "I'm just a man!", you suspend disbelief. He's a superhero..playing a man. It's just a basis for an origin. Supes is an alien. Thor is a god. Cyclops is a mutant. Nightwing is a normal human. It's just how they're perceived. DD shouldn't be able to come even close to Spider-Man in the agility/reflexes area, but he does almost. Therefore, any limits you place on a character because his origin reads 'normal human' should be right up there near any other superheroes. I think the limit of 30 from FRED is perfect.
  17. I seem to remember Batman admitting Nightwing is a better 'leader' than he is, but I can't see him being the better fighter. Probably more agile, though.
  18. I'll wait to see who ends up in the actual poll, but I agree with those pretty much. Triathlon is a relatively new hero with the Avengers, more of an acrobatic fighter than a martial artist, I guess. Speed, strength, and speed are probably slightly superhuman also.
  19. Don't forget who trained ya, bub. Wolverine's been involved in some of the dumbest retcons and storylines.
  20. QuantumSeeker Racially-mixed nucleonic-energy wielding martial artist with a mean streak. He never wears a shirt, and occasionally substitutes shurikens for energy blasts.
  21. Iron Fist Nightwing DD Shang-Chi Moon Knight Wildcat (JSA?) Black Panther Black Widow (c'mon girls are tough, too!) Triathlon Wolverine? (would he go in here?)
  22. Well, Ambrosia, whom I mentioned, is already IN something pretty tight.
  23. I choose to go old school and bring in a ringer. Ambrosia from Champions of the North is still the hottest Champions chick...ever. Period. Nuff said! Hands down! End of story. Let's also remember, Ambrosia isn't really a bad girl...she's just drawn that way.
  24. Just guessing here, but those might indicate the proper way to write-up a 'god' to be exclusively worshipped in a Fantasy Hero game. They'll be written up on 2500+ points, but really aren't meant to be interacted with. Use of a god-like character in a Champions game would be much lower in my opinion. For example, if I wanted Marvel's Thor to 'fairly' interact with the current Champions Universe, I'd probably make him approximately as powerful as Firewing or Gravitar.
