  1. Re: Stretching Question To achieve this effect you buy Stretching and apply the Focus Limitation to it. If someone attacks your webline (Stretching), you don't take damage since the Focus rules for damage are separate from you. - Christopher Mullins
  2. Re: Costs END only to activate The Rules FAQ has some very specific clarification on what that particular Advantage can be applied to. You may want to check it out.
  3. Re: Always On + Linked A couple of things: 1) If Power Defense has "Always On", then it can never be turned off or removed willfully. Therefore, linking it to something else or vice versa would be an invalid construct by the rules. 2) If the "Power Defense" can be turned off willfully, then you can include inside the Force Field and partially limit the power to meet the SFX. - Christopher Mullins
  4. Re: Tornado Entangle I generally value it at -1/2, but that's something you'll have decide for your campaign.
  5. Re: Tornado Entangle Only one real solution to this. I've done some Tornado type effects for a character before. I found that most of the effects I wanted could be achieved by some application of Telekinesis. I think what you are striving for can also be achieved with it. Since TK is "STR" at range, you can do a Grab that restrains the target. It could also be used to "Block" attacks. The Grab would have the "Does Not Prevent Attack" limitation. And since the target can break free of a TK grab with a STR vs STR roll, that part satisfies you main condition on the power. I had to come up with a new advantage that changed the roll to an "Anchored STR" roll. A character grabbed and lifted off the ground has no chance to break free with STR. Just Some Ideas. - Christopher Mullins
  6. Re: Oops... How about allowing a "Blocking While Prone" skill. Works the same as Blocking but only while prone. Just An Idea - Christopher Mullins
  7. Re: I need serious help!!! The only thing I can suggest is to thoroughly read up on Partially Limited Power, and Naked Power Advantage.
  8. Re: I need serious help!!! 5th Edition, Page 196, Last Paragraph, Relevant Excerpts "When a character uses two (or more) Linked Powers, he activates and uses them simultaneously ... He only makes one Attack Roll to hit with them, and it must be the same type of Attack Roll ... However, the target gets to apply his defenses separately against the Powers..." Unfortunately, when using linked powers, the damage of each power is applied separately to the targets defenses. So linking two "identical" powers only saves you points, but doesn't give you a more powerful effect.
  9. Re: mind control levels Disclaimer: The folllowing is simply my opinion on some of things discussed. In no way am I trying to insinuate that what other people think is incorrect or wrong. (8^D) It has been suggested that a character with a Disad: CVK 20 Points (will not kill under any circumstances), and another character without said Disad but is roleplayed as if they did have it, are in fact the same within the game. They are vastly different in my games and here's why. 1) The character without the Disad may at any point "change his mind". If he decides to kill someone, then there will not be any ramifications enforced on the character by the GM. And before anyone infers that I am saying that Killing would have no ramifications in the game under this circumstance, wrong. That is not what I am saying. There are ramifications that apply to everyone equally regardless of Disads. 2) The character with the Disad may not "change his mind". If he decides to kill someone, then there will be very severe ramifications enforced on the character by the GM. In addition to any normal ramifications that might occur. That, in my games, is what defines a Disad. What the GM willl enforce on the character if it is broken. Therefore, if a character had 20 Point CVK and someone tries to mind control him to Kill someone, then I as GM will enforce that CVK even on the rare chance that it might benefit them in some manner. Just My Humble Opinion - Christopher Mullins (8^D)
  10. Re: KA: The power at the core of RKA and HKA Given: 60 point Multipower Pool 4D6 RKA (60 AP) 4d6 HKA [6d6 with STR] (60 AP) 6D6 KA (60 AP) 4D6 KA, Ranged +1/2 (60 AP) 4D6 KA, Adds STR Damage +1/2 [6d6] (60 AP) Notice that the only difference here is the +2 Dice for a default of (No Range, No STR Add). This restrictiveness to balances the additional +2 Dice in benefit. I still don't see how this is more unbalancing than many other constructs within the system. Therefore, easily controlled by the GM. Just My Humble Opinion Your other points are well noted.
  11. Re: KA: The power at the core of RKA and HKA How is this different than having an HKA with 30 STR? Do you cap it at 4d6 even though the STR makes it 6d6? It costs a little more since you are buying more STR, but I don't see how the 6d6 by itself will unbalance things.
  12. Re: KA: The power at the core of RKA and HKA A very elegant solution. Hopefully, it might become standard in the 6th Edition someday. (8^D)
  13. Re: HKA Damage Sheilds? I had this dicussion with my players a long time ago. I ruled that if you want a Killing Attack with Damage Shield that gives no STR Bonus, you must use an RKA, and apply all rules as normal. One of those wierd loopholes in the rules that makes no since for consistency. Just My Humble Opinion (8^D)
  14. Re: Retractable Armor? Just a Clarification on the whole Visible/Perceivble thought. 1) In Hero, Visible is defined as being perceivable by three Sense Groups. 2) Any power that costs END automatically is "Visible". Those that do not cost END by default are not "Visible", however, this is not the same as "Invisible". Therefore, since Armor does not cost END by default, it is not "Visible" as defined by the game, but does not imply that Armor is "Invisible". Armor could be perceivable by the Sight Group and no other and still not be considered "Visible".
  15. Re: Need Help Building a Disadvantage I recall that someone had worked out a system for being Drunk, to the point of being unable to function normally. I think it would work well for what you have in mind, but I don't remember the specific details. Maybe someone else here remembers it.
  16. Re: Rage induced Growth This is just a suggestion, and it requires that some presumptions are made about the SFX of the power. I'll presume that each additional level of anger required is increasingly difficult to obtain. Also I'll presume that the first three levels are so easy that the character can just inform the GM he's getting angrier. From this I'll extrapolate a table for increasing levels. Anger Level/Roll Required(3d6) 1/18- 2/17- 3/16- 4/14- 5/12- 6/10- 7/8- 8/6- 9/4- 10+/3- For each level of anger, the roll to get angrier becomes more difficult, but not impossiible. The GM controls when a roll can be made. Each success implies an increase level of Growth available to the character. You can simulate this with an Aid to Growth, or Growth with Partially Limited Power applied to it. This really depends on just how much this power you want defined for game play. You can incorporate this table into "Accidental Change" if that applicable to your game, or it can simply be your "House Rule" for this concept. What do you think? - Christopher Mullins
  17. Re: How much is this lim for I would model the advantage similar to how the advantages work with an Entangle. Whether the Entangle allows damage to pass through to the entangled characters. A similar model could be built for this advantage. Just A Suggestion - Christopher Mullins
  18. Re: Need Help With Teleport Power Hmmm.... interesting... have to think on that.
  19. Re: Need Help With Teleport Power Well, based on the asnwers I got from Steve, using Teleportation UAA in the manner I thought would work turned out be an invalid construct via the rules. So, looks like Dust Raven's idea will be the way to go with this. Thanks everyone.
  20. Ok, I have an unorthodox application with Teleportation UAA. Just need to know if this is also invalid. Teleportation UAA, 1 Fixed Location. Character memorizes the rock as a fixed location. Given that he has Ranged and enough range to reach the rock. Could he then teleport the rock to his current location without seeing it? It kind of works backward from normal Teleportation, yet the points are still being spent in a similar method. Is thiis a valid construct of Teleportation UAA. Sorry if I'm being a pain, but this is the first time trying to apply UAA for Teleportation and it has a lot of gray areas. Thanks.
  21. Have another question concerning the application of UAA. Since the character retains control of the power that is transferred, can the character choose to activate the power after the power is tranferred? Example: Teleportation UAA. Character touches the rock, then waits three phases before teleporting it. Was this the intent of what the advantage grants? Is it a valid application? Thanks again.
  22. Re: Need Help With Teleport Power You've made realize a possiblity that I wasn't aware of. I need to check with Steve Long on the validity of the interpretation though.
