  1. Re: Dodging bullets. Really. Can you imagine being the test pilot for that suit?!?!?! Btw - Wouldn't it hurt rather a lot when the suit jolted you out of the way? - And what about if the bullet was heading for your chest? Would the suit spring one of your legs and kick-jump you off to one side? Amazing what people will patent though... good link BJB! Here's thefirearmblog's entry with some comments from, erm, well, fans of firearms I suppose... http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/02/12/ibm-files-matrix-style-bullet-dodging-patent/
  2. Re: Russian Napalm Caverns Now that is creepy! Reminds me of that film Event Horizon.... and things there didn't end too well! If I was a PC and the GM handed me one of these pictures to describe the room I'd just entered, well..... Nice post for DC!
  3. Re: Abandoned Soviet Nuclear Powered Lighthouse Nice. Bucket loads of pics for atmospheric player handouts!

    Space Monster?

Re: Space Monster? This NASA site is an excellent source of inspiration and hand outs for Star Hero. Thanks for all the links!
  5. Re: Bonestell Panorama Now that is very nice! Make a good Star Hero handout if your printer's got enough red ink!
  6. Re: Solar HERO: As the sun... That's a quote to steal for the team's science officer right there! Thanks!
  7. Re: Solar HERO: As the sun... That's quite impressive! Doesn't look as red from underneath the atmosphere does it? Would be a nice pic to include as a handout though... at which point you say to the players "No that's right, the sky doesn't look as red from the surface does it? But that's how it really is!" A ripple of applause goes round the table at your most impressive research for the session... Either that or someone says "I bet you got that off one of Basil's Solar Hero posts didn't you?" Busted!
  8. Re: Adventure Seed/Hook -- Ancient Brain Discovered Nice. I'm thinking Pulp/Horror Hero. "It's..... ALIIIIIIIVE!" To which the classic Cthulhu solution would of course be: 12 Gauge Shotgun! Doesn't, and indeed shouldn't, always work though!
  9. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The new Doctor Who talking about his new job! A bit young if you ask me...
  10. Re: In the jungle... What about the viper though? That's one GREEN viper!

    A few pix

Re: A few pix Now if that were a Martian Death Star, that could just possibly be some sort of afterglow from the last time it fired...
  12. Re: Solar HERO: Saturnian Auroras Those are so weird they've just got to be faked... I mean they managed to fool just about everyone with those pictures of men on the moon didn't they, so I bet they thought "let's go for something even more out there, really push out the boat"! Seriously though - loving those pics! Just what IS going on there? Extreme weirdness, that's what!
  13. Re: Cool 3D Starmap.. That's pretty good. Particularly like the way you can set it spinning at different angles and speeds easily with the mouse. The pop up info is cool too. Goes to show we're in a bit of a gap with a fair old distance from us to the nearest neighbouring star! Possibly a good job of course depending on how unfriendly the locals are over there!
  14. Re: Shadowcats Vehicular Insanity Shop: Swift Boat These are good stuff. Thanks! Have you thought of putting them all in the same thread though? Now that would be really really good!

    Dark WHAT'S?!?

Re: Dark WHAT'S?!? I'm sure they know what they're talking about... just looks like a bit of a leap from the photo to the diagram that's all... Or perhaps it's just a bit of a leap... for me!
  16. Re: Solar HERO: Mercury---ready for mapping? "That's no moon, that's a space station." "But it's too big to be a space station. Look at the size of it!" "I have a very strange feeling about this,"
  17. Re: Solar HERO: Mercury---ready for mapping? Nice. Some pretty serious craters there! Hmm... come to think of it, you could base a scenario around those...
  18. Re: Science marches on... Like it! Apparently when they had the helium leak the other week, the local fire brigade was actually called in during the night. Can you imagine being on that shift? "We've got a call. Grab your stuff and let's go!" "Where's the fire?" "It's up at the Large Hadron Collider" "Really?" "Erm...." "Actually I've heard that large hadron fires naturally burn themselves out and can safely be left to do so..." "Really?" "Oh yes" "Great! Everyone back to the card game then." "Who's for another beer?"
  19. Re: Traveller Hero I've been teetering on the edge of getting this for quite some time now and listening to a recorded Traveller game over on rpgmp3 tipped me right over the edge! And I'm very glad it did! I'm now the proud owner of books 1 and 2. To echo the above comments, these are really good books! All the feel of Traveller with all the goodness of Hero System! Great job all!
  20. Re: Picture of 1st edition They're great aren't they? Here're a couple from the above link in case anyone's averse to link-clicking..
  21. Re: Picture of 1st edition Think it's the first pic on this page: http://www.waynesbooks.com/SuperHeroRPGs.html At least that's the first one I can remember!

    CthulhuTech?

Re: CthulhuTech? Yog Radio 28 has an interesting interview with the authors which is well worth a listen. http://www.yog-sothoth.com/docs2/yog-radio-28.mp3 There were a few technical issues but they re-animated the interview very well!
  23. Re: Cybernetics comes closer And then there's this from the rather wondeful Moorfields eye hospital in London... http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2214820/boffins-build-bionic-eye Yes, you are reading that correctly... bionic eye!!!
  24. Re: Traveller Hero Will it go "poof" in pdf form too? I hope not! If so, can we make this thread sticky or something? That time limit's going to be quite important as we get closer to November this year! Or perhaps a new sticky thread which has a title which makes this crystal clear.
  25. Re: Freerunning Perhaps more useful if the GM has capped skill levels to keep things vaguely realistic but isn't averse to complementary skills up to the cap... Otherwise you could just say, why not buy more acrobatics? Maybe so, but in certain campaigns an acrobatics of <=20 is just a little bit out of place. After all, doesn't 18 or less mean you're practically the best person at something in the last 100 years or something like that?
