    The Blood

Re: The Blood I was recently trying to write more updated character pages for The Blood, and I was having a problem with Sala. Firstly her "earthquake" power doesn't add up (which is only along the ground worth?) Secondly, it's a 30D6 EB explosion with no range! She only has 15 body and no defenses and no personal immunity. Wouldn't any use of her power damage HER, and most likely kill her?
  2. Re: How to do it? - Transformer Pretender Shell Yes, but the problem is they's have to buy the SHELL as the main character, and duplicate the inner robot, which would be weird, considering the inner robot would house the intelligence.
  3. Okay, working on my Transformers write-ups and I needed ideas on how to handle the Pretender shells. For those unaware, the Pretender shells are basically exo-skeletons/armors the Transformers wear. They can operate inside these suits, or open the suits to get out. Once outside the suit the suit can be remote controlled, and seen through, or be programmed to carry out simple tasks (it's a non-living AI inside). I was thinking about maybe a vehicle with an AI. Perhaps with a mind link back to the "driver" and the driver can have clairvoyance to see through the shell's eyes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GpTjkDrJkU&feature=related
  4. Re: Request:Hero off of 250 points Besides more running and looking like a truck, what powers would a truck have that the robot would not? I do admit though, the only Tranformers I've been able to fit in 250 points have been the smaller or weaker ones and those with non-combat functions. 350 points fits the power level much better. For instance, you could play Autobot reporter Rook for 250 points - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/ROOK.pdf A 350 point truck like Overhaul is more combat oriented - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/OVERHAUL.pdf
  5. Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets. p122 The Gurkha - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/GURKHA.pdf p130 Yeoman - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/YOEMAN.pdf I'm not good at Martial Arts rules, so if someone wants to check over these two, let me know if I missed anything. Since Yeoman was incredible vague, I had to make some things up. He ended up coming out almost exactly 250 points, so I went the extra mile and made him a 100+150 point character, perfect for a starting PC in a UK setting.
  6. Re: Request:Hero off of 250 points I'd say keep it simple. Make a robot character who has some growth, about 16 to 20 feet tall. Then give him shapeshift to a truck form. Extra running multipliers that work in truck shape only. Throw in a gun, and you are all set. If you want a human sized option, get a follower who does the legwork for the pair. You could even make the follower solid hologram the Transformer projects and interacts through, they do this in the IDW comics.
  7. While I loved the Kingdom of Champions book, one thing that always bothered me was that many of the characters written up were in shorthand rather than getting full character sheets. They would just say to take such-and-such a character from a previous book, and change certain things, to get the write-up. So I started doing just that, and then saving the finished sheets. So if anyone wants to add these to their KOC book, here are FULL write ups for the first couple I did. More to follow. Anyone else wanting to add some, please do. I added "DF, Detects as a mutant" to all the mutant characters. I had to guess about some powers, since some just said things like "has Force Field and flight" a didn't even say how much! The Clansman had some small mistakes in his writeup. The cost of his stats was 132, not 32. His languages should cost 4 points, not 6. His Flash Defense should cost 6 points not 7. His WF should cost 12 points, not 11. Total cost of the character is 398 points. The write-up of Doctor Goldwing fixes some messed up point values and adds the corrections from the KOC errata. Since Yeoman was incredible vague, I had to make some things up. He ended up coming out almost exactly 250 points, so I went the extra mile and made him a 100+150 point character, perfect for a starting PC in a UK setting. I made sure all the members of the London Watch knew "Watch Battle Language", even if their writeup didn't mention it. I did change Starline's "Accidental Change" to a Distinctive Feature, since it was that she glows when near powerful magic... that's not an Accidental Change to me. Mother Janet is based on the older, lower powered version of the character. Blizzard King, Gale Force, Monsoon and Sandstorm lower power versions are 250 point characters. The high point versions are the ones when they are powered up. Doctor Brutallus and Doctor Mantis were fleshed out to be 250 point villains. There are two versions of Darkwing, one based on the lower cost version in the book, and the other based on the high point version from the Kingdom of Champions Errata. I just assumed that Mile was a mutant telepath, no origin was given for her powers. The Lesser Fomori were very obscure, because they are based on the writeup for Wintershade's demon form with changes, which in turn is based on the writeup for Powerhouse from the Champions book with changes. I'm starting on fleshing out half-written characters from other books, here are some others: VIPER: p35 - Frostburn http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/FROSTBUR.pdf p40 - Sinister Samurai http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SSAMURAI.pdf Strike Force: p36 - Skyrocket http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SKYROCKE.pdf p40 - Napalm http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/NAPALM.pdf p40 - Defender http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/DEFENDE1.pdf p40 - Ichi-Ban http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/ICHI-BAN.pdf p41 - Vixen http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/VIXEN.pdf p50 - Shelvastra http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SHELVAST.pdf p51 - Charade http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/CHARADE.pdf p59 - Power Lord http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/POWERLOR.pdf p60 - Fire Hawk http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/FIREHAWK.pdf Many of the Strike Force writeups diodn't have any real disadvantages section, so I had to write up what I inferred from what was there. Mutants got DF. Married characters for DNPCs or "In Love with" Psych Lims. I gave Power Lord the same vulnerabilities as his father Overlord.
  8. Re: Bygone Champions - Early Editions The original Rose writeup: Here is Rose converted to 4th edition Champions rules. http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/ROSE.pdf I used HS Almanac for the Justice Inc talent, and added the DS detects as a mutant (she is a mutant psychic right?) 9. Re: Request:Hero off of 250 points I was working on the idea of Targetmasters as playable characters. Take Quickmix I wrote for 350 points total. He has two Nebulan Targetmasters as followers. Each follower is 100+15 points, and the main character is 200+150. So for 350 points, you get to play 3 characters. Two are basically humanoids in armor who turn into guns, and their "boss" is a rolling science lab who turns into a giant robot. You could easily play characters like this by having the FOLLOWERS do all the running around and talking, and going inside buildings, while Quickmix parks outside in vehicle mode, communicating via radio and using his enhanced sensors. When a fight breaks out, he could come into play. http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/QUICKMIX.pdf http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/BOOMER.pdf http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/RICOCHET.pdf
  10. The latest Botcon (The Transformers Convention) featured an exclusive comic book and toys with several new or reimagined characters. The leaders of the Autobots and Decepticons in this story were the Heroic Spark and the evil Clench. Both are Transformers made on Earth, years after the Cybertronian war left us. They were created using human and alien technology to reverse engineer Transformers by the governments of the world. Spark was built by the government of the UK it seems, as a firefighter. He's become the leader of the "Generation 2" Autobots. He has saved the queen of England from villians, been Knighted, carries a plasma rifle and has gained the ability to see the immediate future. Spark: http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SPARK.pdf Clench was built in Texas as a SWAT officer. Sadly Clench is a little too violent (okay a LOT) and started his own Decepticon faction on Earth, rather than becoming an Autobot. He has a ram, a plasma blaster, missile launcher and has the ability to increase gravity on his opponents. Clench: http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/CLENCHTI.pdf
  11. Re: Supers and SF characters from 70s TV. It's probably the shows the creator of the picture saw in the 70s, not the ones he didn't see because they were on the other side of the planet. Blakes 7 and Doctor Who were not really seen in the US until the 80s in my experience.
  12. Re: Hawaii Hero I think it's a Japanese thing, but there is a large Japanese influence in Hawaii.
  13. I was working on my RPG conversions of Transformers characters, and I got up to working on the "Acton Masters". These are Transformers who use Nucleon fuel to become "Stronger, faster, more alive!" They give up the ability to transform, but gain other powers. Their actual appearances in fiction are very few. There was a Transformers Collectors Club fiction staring Jackpot that was one of the most detailed. In this fic he uses his Nucleon to enhance a punch and to run quickly for a brief period, but quickly runs out of fuel and has to wait for it to recharge. So for character who are Action Masters I was thinking of giving them a Nucleon Endurance Reserve, and then a multipower of powers that could be activated with that endurance. The Multipower has three Ultra slots. 1. Stronger - A STR boost. 2. Faster - A running boost. 3. More Alive - Healing aid on self. http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/JACKPOT.pdf Any other ideas?
  14. Re: Hawaii Hero If I played a hero in hawaii, I'd have to play a brick hero who is a sort of Lycantrope, who turns into a large wood bear holding a fish. The fish could be done with the duplication power. My wife brought one of these back from a trip to Hawaii, and it's what makes me think of that state.
  15. Re: A Super powered Nation A super powered nation is a polite nation... still... Being a Libertartian, using force against others is the #1 sin. Why can't he take volunteers to become super powered, instead of FORCING it on others. Making people superhuman voluntarely is no crime. Forcing it on others in unethical. How are you any better then the dictator if you engage in unwilling human experimentation?
  16. Re: Is there a running thread for minor corrections on old books? If you don't like it, roll a 8 or less for the guy like it says in the book, instead of the 11 that I suggest. It's a freaking suggestion to a character sheet that may or may not have a mistake. Play it as you will people. I changed it because it looked out of place to me. I mentioned it specifically because it was a judgement call on my part. I'm not saying it's definietely wrong, I'm saying I think this makes more sense, and in fact may be what the author wanted. Maybe not, but maybe.
  17. Re: Supers and SF characters from 70s TV. Quark
  18. Re: Is there a running thread for minor corrections on old books? Did you look at the picture of Jackhammer? His weapons built into his suit's arms. It didn't look like it could be taken away with a grab maneuver. Maybe the artist and the writer didn't have the same concept in mind. As for reps, I repeat ALL members of DC had identical reps, except Jackhammer. Not just the Chainsaw guy. It would be funny if the Destruction Company attacked a government lab, some lab tech sees them, and they make rep rolls... Some lab tech says "Oh my goodness, we are under attack by the noted violent high tech mercenaries Power Tool, Chainsaw, Live Wire, Burnout, Countdown!.. and some other guy." Jackhammer "I'm Jackhammer!" Lab tech "No, never heard of you..." Jackhammer "AGAIN! What the heck?" Chainsaw "Should have had someone proof read your character sheet Jack!"
  19. Re: Supers and SF characters from 70s TV. Seeing that picture, someone has to write up G-Force/Gatchaman.
  20. Re: Gravity well power - how to write it? Possibly. It's very open to interpertation, as the character only appeared as a villian in one comic book, and basically used the power 3 or 4 times, all times to crush opponents into the ground. I don't know if he can use gravity in any other way (pin opponents to the ground, make things fly, etc...)
  21. Re: Gravity well power - how to write it? Thanks. The only other one I was possibly considering at this point, since it would have a similar effect to how it's used in the comics (he basically crushes his opponents into the ground), would be a continuing EB that does no body or stun but has extra KB, and it's indirect, pointing right from on top of the target and going straight down. It would at least push targets into the ground and damage them from hitting it, which is what I want. It would be a simple attack with a gravity special effect.
  22. Re: Gravity well power - how to write it? Since the main effect of TK is to move an object at a distance, I think I'll stick with it to do what I want. I mean I could do all sorta of wacky things, like a Extra Dimensional Movement useable against the target to a parallel world with higher gravity with invisible power effects would work too, but it's sorta missing simplicity. I'll just take the closest power to the effects I want, and limit it to be EXACTLY what I want.
  23. Re: Is there a running thread for minor corrections on old books? I could see that if it wasn't for the fact that EVERY member of DC has the same reputation, and they were all written so uniformly. So when I rewrote Jackhammer, I gave him an identical rep.
  24. Re: Gravity well power - how to write it? Problem I have with linking Density Increase and STR drain, besides it making the character roll to see if they have enough body to be effected, it allows Power Defense to defy gravity. I could just see hitting a skinny Advanced Generation Mutant with this power and he just stands there... "sorry, I have Power Defense, gravity doesn't pull on me like it does normal people!"
  25. Re: '70s TV Supers I don't know about you, but Dirty Trixie and Glorious Gal make that must see tv to me!
