  1. Re: Succeeding The Blood One "family" from the CU itself that would be nice to see revisited is the Braverman family. It would be nice to see more of them shw up in future books. In fact I'd love a "family" oriented book with several super-human families on Earth, each with thier own package of powers and chapter devoted to them. The Bravermans could be the newest family, the Empyrines the oldest, the Rockborn... then wasn't there a magic family from Mystic Masters? Make one book covering all these, it would be cool.
  2. Re: Succeeding The Blood Marvel also had the Panthenon, where a human/god hybrid named Agamemnon had many descendents, all of whom had enhanced abilities. http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix3/pantheonhulk.htm
  3. Re: Is there a running thread for minor corrections on old books? In Classic Organizations: p41, Metalla's Flash power should cost 12 points, not 5. p78, Cosmo's Martial Arts should cost 13 points, not 14 points. His 3 levels with his cosmic power shouldn't cost 24 points, as that's overall levels. I'd call them a tight group, so it would cost 9 points.
  4. Re: Alternatives to the internet? In the book "In the Year 2889" (written in 1889) all the information in the world in his dispensed by a central "newspaper" company. They don't release newspapers any more, but they have rooms full of reporters who record all the stories on wax cylinders. Everyone has a telephone (voice telegraphs) in their homes which also contains a recording cylinder. You subscribe to the newspaper, and tell it your preferences, then each day your personalized voice news in called in to your wax cylinder for you to listen at your convienance. You can tell the newspaper your preferences, like companies you want to follow, sports teams, local news, or following the arms race on Mars... whatever you want. It's an amazing short story considering it basically predicted podcasting 100 years before it existed.

    Honorverse

Re: Honorverse Sad, I actually has character sheets for several Wings of Honor characters. http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/FLAK.pdf
  6. Re: Alternatives to the internet? In one episode of the Outer Limts called "The Stream" all humanity has a small computer with wifi and and OCR software built into their tempels. It allowed them to instant message anyone on the planet, download ALL public knowledge, and could read (through their eyes) anything and input that knoweldge into their brains. No one in this world even knew how to read, as the computer would scan a sign or a book for them and input what it said directly into their heads. Resaurants had no menus, as it was just broadcast to you as you were on your way there, and you would instant message in your orders and ETA, so it would be waiting for you. There was no cash, just electronic transfers. Everything controlled by a remote was controlled by your implant. The story of this episode centered around a young man who had been in a car accident as a child, and his brain was damaged in the spot where the implant would go. He was completely normal, in fact very intelligent, but he couldn't get the "Stream" implant. He had to survive by letting someone order for him, pay for him, etc. He had to teach himself to read, horde the last books that hadn't been destroyed, to find knoweldge, etc. It was a very good episode. A setting like this would allow entry into the stream by default. ANyone who didn't have access to it would have a good sized physical limitation.

    Honorverse

Re: Honorverse Is that the setting Transformers Botcon story "Wings of Honor"? http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Wings_of_Honor_continuity
  8. Re: Succeeding The Blood There was a story in Captain America/West Cost Avengers about "That Which Endures", a tiny DNA sample that invaded the first living cell that all life on Earth is descended from. It has guided life, living in the background, and trying to influence a life. It once favored the Dinosaurs, then abandoned them for mammals. Later it favored humanity over other homnoids. Then it tried to move mutants into dominance. Captain America ended up being the only human Avenger completely immune to it's influence because the super soldier serium had removed all "That Which Endures" from his DNA.
  9. Re: Succeeding The Blood Perhaps those humans with sufficient Power Defense to be immune to all effects of Slug's Transformersion attacl have the Elder Worm DNA removed then. Elder Worm DNA makes you vulnerable to transformations in general?
  10. Re: Succeeding The Blood I'd l prefer the idea that an Empyrean scientist tried to advance humanity to match them. He fell short, only making a family of slightly evolved superhumans. The experiment was considered a failure (nothing seemed to happen), and the other Empyrean's threw them out of their hiding place, then they kept the genetic potential, and started to breed superhumans along the generations.
  11. Re: Succeeding The Blood Amazonia the Jungle Princess p108 from the Lucha Libre Hero is an Amazon.
  12. Re: Succeeding The Blood In the Squadron Supreme the character of Power Princess is supposed to basically be a Wonder Woman ripoff. I think they eventually said her people are their world's version of the Inhumans, but this world never discovered the Teregin mists, so they don't have mutant forms and super powers, they are just a physically fit human sub-race. Hyperion was an Eternal from his Earth too. Marvel also had the idea of super sub races originated from manipulation being found in aliens who were also manipulated by the same sources... they have Kree and Shiar versions of the Eternals for instance. Using that idea in Champions, you could see alien versions of Empyrean, Advanced Generation Mutant or Rockborn. Just take some alien race and say they were had Elder worm or Progenator manipulation too... then you have Empyrean T'Yaks, or whatever.
  13. Re: Succeeding The Blood I like the idea of subraces with a package of common powers. For instance the the Advanced Generation Mutants. Have we ever seen them used after The Mutant File? I noticed Cateran from CKC is almost an Advanced Generation Mutant (missing life support vs. disease), were there any others?
  14. Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets. Another of the characters who didn't get a full writeup, Swift Swallow. I wrote him up again as a 250 point hero. p131 - Swift Swallow http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SWIFT_SW.pdf
  15. Re: Classic Hero Characters updated (sorta) Right now I have 4th edition software on my computer. I like to update characters from 1-3st to 4th, and correct 4th editon characters with errors in them. Here are some others from Circle and METE: Kor Hunter - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/KOR_THE_.pdf Megan Pierce - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/MEGAN_PI.pdf From The Blood and Dr. McQuark: Sala - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SALA.pdf From Villiany Unbound: Emerald - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/EMERALD.pdf Kawaii - http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/KAWAII.pdf

  17. Re: Is there a running thread for minor corrections on old books? I just noticed Zen Eagle from Allies doesn't quite add up. His Constitution stat from both normal and hero form come to 12 points cost, but he paid 14 points for it. Normally I'd lower the point cost and keep the stat identical, but since that would make him a 248 point hero, I'd recomend making his CON stat one higher, so he continues to be a 250 point hero. Zen Mouse has a problem with the cost of her Stun and Martial Arts. The Stun is listed as costing 3 points, and the Martial Arts costing 20 points, but the STUN attribute would suggest it cost her zero points, and the Martial Arts should cost 21 points. This would make her a 248 point character. I recomend increasing the Stun by 2 so she maintains her 250 point status. Barnstormer from Allies should have a Breakfall of 14- because of his DEX. He should probably get a DF Detects as a mutant, as it's described in his text. I was wondering about the writeup for Escapade in High Tech Enemies. She has a EC with two Telekinesis slots in it, one is higher strength and has 1/2 END cost, the other is lower STR, has 0 END and fine manipulation. The second slot also has Extra Limbs in it, and it's LINKED to the TK. Can you have two powers inside a EC slot that are linked together? I'd say either move the Extra Limbs outside the EC or remove the link. Minor correction for Sci-Fi in High Tech Enemies. His Armor should cost 37 points, not 38.
  18. Re: World Without People! Brose the Magician would set his VPP to Summon People and repopulate the world.
  19. Re: Transformer Suit from '86 Movie I'd just go with armor that has a multipower. Seems to have wheels in one slot, weapons in anothter. Also life support, enhanced leaping, radio... anything else it did? Maybe some growth.
  20. Re: How to do it? - Transformer Pretender Shell So the vehicle would work as as a shell, if you added an AI to control it when the "driver" isn't inside. Could you just make the shell a duplicate or follower, and then somehow justy say the original character shrinks and hides inside his duplicate/follower? BTW - Can a follower be an Automation?
  21. Re: Kingdom of Champions expanded character sheets. One more done as a 250 point character, the hero WeatheRing from page 137 of Kingdom of Champions. The original writeup just gave a vague outline of his abilities, so I fleshed it out. p137 - WeatheRing http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/WEATHERI.pdf

    The Blood

Re: The Blood Seems like cheating to me to use a limitation to get the effects of an advantage. Might as well make a gun with "only damages bad guys" as a limitation, then go around shooting everyone to see who dies.

    The Blood

Re: The Blood So it would look something like this: http://home.comcast.net/~mathewignash/PDFs/SALA.pdf BTW - What is the Blood's native language? What language do they speak on Ean?

    The Blood

Re: The Blood Still, if updating the write-up, should she have personal immunity to keep from killing herself? BTW - reading the Blood2.txt from the Red October BBS. Good extras.
