  1. Re: Which is easier to swing, an axe or a sword? Assuming two opponents of equal skill, swords are generally easier to master and use in combat either one handed or 2. A skilled swordsman i think uses a sword as an extension of himself/herself which affords more control of the weapon than an axe. Thrusts, slashing moves, parrying/deflecting from a skilled swordsman is more manageable than the predominately chopping motions of an axe. Lol, without giving you the long drawn out answer, i would say swords by far.
  2. Re: A level of confusion When someone has a CSL with Knives, i look at that as saying this guy is killed at both wielding a knife in combat and knowing how to defend yourself in said fight. Although having a knife in hand while defending yourself is an obvious plus, it shouldn't be a requirement. Defending yourself from a knife attack is more about body positioning, anticipating the opponents moves and reacting accordingly which is where i think the intent of the CSL was going IMO. On the other hand, some GM's may require the character to have a knife in hand to receive the DCV bonus. In other words, said GM may say that since knife size can vary and balance of the weapon affords more control of use in combat, thats where the DCV bonus comes into play. In the end, i would say you only get the OCV bonus while weilding a knife but can get the DCV bonus without it to reflect my reasoning above.

  5. Re: Quantum Fuzzy: Mirror Universe version of the Tribble...to be or not to be LOL! It wont let me rep you for that.
  6. Re: GAME RELATED: Anyone know the science behind an orbital nuclear burst?
  7. Re: Quantum Fuzzy: Mirror Universe version of the Tribble...to be or not to be The shows may lack continuity but the game will not. Once the foundation is laid there will be no "you gotta be kidding me" adventures as seen in various episodes. Keep in mind Xavier, this idea is meant as a fun twist. Unlike the various writers for the shows, we as GM's, can bring more method to the madness
  8. Re: GAME RELATED: Anyone know the science behind an orbital nuclear burst? That simulator is great, really puts it into perspective.
  9. Re: Quantum Fuzzy: Mirror Universe version of the Tribble...to be or not to be LOL, the Klingons would love that Since this will end up being post Dominion War, in the Mirror Universe there is no longer a Terran Empire per DS9 episodes and this is really more of a twist i thought would be interesting than the standard eat and multiply. Now it gets taken to a different level with a starships warp power being used as food and although a carnivorous tribble is both amusing and disturbing, lol, not quite the concept i had in mind. Although they could turn aggresive as attempts at removal starts in earnest. I was thinking prolonged feeding could have adverse effects on various systems that utilize the energy generated by the warp core (just about everything important). Just toying with the idea at this point really.
  10. Re: GAME RELATED: Anyone know the science behind an orbital nuclear burst? Good deal. At first blush, a 5 Kiloton nuke doing 15d6 i figured a city buster ( which i dont think requires 100 Megatons) would be at least 25d6. Lol, i guess in the end it really doesn't matter since anyone taking a city buster to the face should have their molecules spread far and wide
  11. In an effort to do a Star Trek conversion to HERO, i thought it might be amusing to add a comical element like the evil twins of the Tribble. So instead of eating food to multiply in vast numbers, mabey something to the effect of " eating" warp field energy. To clarify, they could attach themselves to a warp core and leach the power from the internal reactions to propagate ( Drain END) from a starship. What do you folks think?
  12. Re: Tell me what you think I will keep it simple for the sensors. A multi-stage detect containing the "whats needed to emulate the shows" effect, hold the technobabble

  14. Re: They were ants Lol, use the Growth power, grab the largest Telescope lens i could find and act like a big kid... hope the suns out that day
  15. Re: You are unappreciated when . . . When the people you rescue wear costumes so the're not embarrassed being seen with you.
  16. Re: Tell me what you think Yea, i think i can write up a few sensor attributes that will cover what is needed without falling into that trap. I definately dont want to get into making up nonsense to validate a sensor VPP, thx Xavier.
  17. Re: Tell me what you think Well, i guess the real question is if you folks think the VPP would be more viable because of all the funky stuff they have had to do with sensors in the shows?

  19. Re: How do Hero System players/GM view DnD? It's ok Wolf, lol, i blame you for everything
  20. Re: How do Hero System players/GM view DnD? 3.5 has caused much of what i liked to lose flavor.
  21. Re: How do Hero System players/GM view DnD? Just for the record, the 2 best campaignes i have seen for 2nd Edition were A Night Below and Return to the Tomb of Horrors. The former you had to improvise for the large scale combats that could happen with non-forward thinking PC's. Although as a rule i do not enjoy out of the box games, those 2 are an exception.
