  1. Re: ITT: You Give Me Ideas, I Steal Them How about a grenade launcher that upon impact a monster is summoned? Or perhaps the grenade doesn’t harm the living, but raises the recently deceased as zombies that attack their former allies. While we are on the topic of zombies, you could also do cybernetic enhanced zombies, and not just arm or leg replacements. Zombies are tough, give them a huge cannon for an arm, line them with explosives for a walking bomb, or slap in a large obtrusive flame thrower that shoots out of their mouth. For some reason my mind is just tracking towards magical creatures right now, dragons and fairies to name a few. Cyber fairies? Getting away from cybernetics, you could always do a race of fairies that are technical masterminds. They use magic to piece together and power technical gadgets. They could even have little aerial fighters the size of shoebox. Just because they are small doesn’t mean they have to be weak, fear the fairy ion cannon.
  2. Re: ITT: You Give Me Ideas, I Steal Them One of my favorite Rolemaster Companion books has always been Dark Space, it included Soft Tech which could best be described as biological cybernetics. With the typical – magic vs technology bit, Soft Tech was the answer. Magic and science can be used to work with the living organisms. There were virus level organisms, spores, living grafts like swords, energy projectors and brain buds, full suits of armor, and even creatures. Almost everything that could be done with cybernetics could be done with the biological based technology. My personal favorite was always the armor, one was crab like, another was wolfish in form. For transportation one thing I remember was a enormous snake with a clear membrane on its head. The pilot and passengers would sit in this clear membrane area. Just a thought.

  4. Re: Pop Culture Hero? Well, there is always Brigitte Nielsen’s character from Beverly Hills Cop II, although she was on the wrong side. There is also Grace Jones’ character May Day from View to a Kill, she became good which of course meant that she had to die. From 1985 there is Tina Turner in Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome. I really can’t think of any female lead characters that are the nature you are looking for. Ripley set the precedent for female character types that don’t come until well after your time period.
  5. Re: My Magic Item System... Yet more great fantasy stuff. I think I've given you more rep in the last month then anyone else, but unfortunately I'm not allowed to give you any right now.
  6. Re: Time Control powers Drain Speed is a common power used for the offensive minded Time Controller. It can be a single target or cover an area. If the targets speed is zero, time is pretty much frozen for them.
  7. Re: Spagetti Western Reference Good find. Along with the music page, the Actors page is well done.
  8. Re: Thinking Differently About SPD Interesting approach, do you place any limit on how particular weapons can be used? For instance: I want a robot with a weapon on each arm, it can fire Weapon A only three times at up to three targets and Weapon B only three times at up to three targets, for a total of six attacks, how would that be modeled? Would speed bought just for this effect work?
  9. Re: Summonings.... Can't rep you again, but very nice detail. The extra details seem very fitting for 1 to 6 month recovers.
  10. Re: Summonings.... Very interesting. Fleshed out with more definitive descriptions and they would be awe inspiring.
  11. Re: Summonings.... You might take a peak at this thread: Summoner The thread contains many summoning ideas, as well as a character from Killer Shrike containing powers written with the flavor you are looking for.
  12. Re: Horror Setting: Eidolon I hope this doesn’t come off as sounding too weird, but here it goes: The first banner makes me think of either – aliens, intelligent undead, or sophisticated and organized demons. The second banner makes me think of either – zombies, disorganized demons, or unknown evil. Just my gut feelings, I like them both, but it depends on which one captures what you are designing.
  13. Re: Irene, <- Cloths Make the Woman I really like the concept, but +22 Comeliness for a push up bra? Don't get me wrong I like push up bra's, but they don't do THAT much for me. In all seriousness, good concept. EDIT to delete reference to a VPP, as I missed the fact that you addressed it.
  14. Re: Pop Culture Hero? Since it is on TV it dawned on me, how about Fletch? Not as apt with physical confrontation, but good with disguises and persuasion. I can think of several others from that era that would qualify, but they are from TV and not movies. Still, I have to throw out the Duke boys, I’m sure they would be able to hold their ground against a vampire or two.
  15. Re: Pop Culture Hero? There is always Chandler Jarrell (Eddie Murphy) from the Golden Child.
  16. Re: Horror Setting: Eidolon The Eidolon portion looks good, at least it seems be in the proper mood of the setting. I'll stop worrying about the "Horror Roleplaying Game" text
  17. Re: Drugs, man... Drugs... I’d throw in side effects, or some other downer effect. Like Huey Lewis implied, all drugs have some bad effect, unless you find “one that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you… when I’m alone with you†The only drug like effects I've worked up were for more futuristic uses, when I hope they will have side effects fixed.
  18. Re: Need some help with an "heat-energy" character First let me suggest a VPP, it is my current FOTM for broad based elemental powers. As for your question, I doubt I would put much damage into the holder of the object. If the holder decided to keep holding, yes do damage, but most will drop it before measurable damage could be done. Of course this would be based on how rapid the object is heated.
  19. Re: Theme Super Hero Teams I’ve started doing some preliminary work on making a villain team themed around the seven deadly sins. There would be Lust, as a mind controlling seductress (maybe go male just to break the stereotype), Gluttony a Blob like character, Wrath a martial arts specialist, Envy uses illusions etc. And, since I have a short attention span, I’ve also been going for an aquatic themed super team. So much water, so few heroes, fish talkers need not apply.
  20. Re: Lets cut the crap... Personally, I'd give D&D high marks. It would only be when I put it against HERO that D&D wouldn’t even rate. Sometimes I feel like the simplicity of filling in the blanks on a character sheet then stomping through a dungeon, but more often I need more. Another system that I would give high marks to is Rolemaster / Spacemaster. It got a bit heavy with 7 supplemental books, and several “Law†books, but it was a great fantasy set up. EDIT: To try and make a little more sense
  21. Re: Greatest Western Movies of all Time The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, is all you need. Sure there is also Shane, Rooster Cogburn, High Noon, and dozens of others that are good for defining various aspects of the west. However, in my opinion they are nothing compared to a good spaghetti western when it comes to looking at the genre that has an appeal to gamers.
  22. Re: Lets cut the crap... A, without the bell curve.
  23. Re: Potential Brain teaser It’s been a while since I have seen it, but wouldn’t it be best just to use one Endurance Reserve? I don’t recall that the symbiote can leave and walk around, so there isn’t much need to keep track of its endurance. If the symbiotic organism grants endurance, boost the characters endurance total, or buy powers with ½ endurance usage. No need for the extra bookwork.
  24. Re: Speedster and Metamorphs:which are you looking forward to most? Metamorph all the way, I wonder if I can speed that book along by sending a box of Cheetos and Mountain Dew to a certain someone.
  25. Re: A Random Bestiary, Anyone? I live in fear of the rabid, laser eyed, winged, racoon with distemper! Being both a Star HERO and Fantasy HERO user I'm looking forward to seeing what you have.
