  1. I agree. It's surprising so few works of fiction have used Mister Greenstein given his wildly adventuresome life. And am I wrong or was he part of the inspiration for the Golden Age Atom at DC Comics? *Looks at Link*: Yep, he was.
  2. Blast. That's a shame, I would have enjoyed reading them.
  3. For all that I love the Asesinos as a villain team, I keep forgetting Spider Monkey. Thanks for reminding me of her and for these great conversions. EDIT: And I included the Maine, somehow?
  4. That guy has ten mug shots? I wonder if he's trying to make a gallery of his tattoo art but is too cheap to buy (steal?) his own camera.
  5. Hopefully this won't be OT, but anyone who wants to read CAS for themselves can find his entire written work online for free here: http://www.eldritchdark.com/ Enjoy.
  6. I've been reading the Jules De Grandin reprints from Nightshade Press. Great stories with a few clunkers here and there, probably one of the classic 'occult detective' series. Yow but the little Frenchman is bloodthirsty though! Yeah the people he kills richly have it coming but when you read about him and a local cop reporting on the death of a child-killing necromancer it gets grim. "He died in a fall down the stairs. Yes, mon ami, I am certain. I took him back up and hurled him down again when the first time didn't quite finish him." If anyone cares, while not a pulp book itself on Amazon they're selling a re-issue of the 45-year-old classic Worse Things Waiting, a collection of fine horror stories by Manly Wade Wellman. He was a pulp-era author and many of the stories are from the pulp years, and great inspiration for tales of occult weirdness. It also has the original edition's art by Lee Brown Coye if you like that.
  7. I would love to see books covering the CU Silver and Bronze Ages. And hmm, what is the 'current' Age the CU/game is supposed to be in? And another question about the GAC book -- does it mention any of the more unusual and probably didb't happen in real life events of the time? Like the 'Battle of Los Angeles' (a false alarm IRL but blamed on flying saucers by some people), the supposed UFO crash in 1938 Poland, the 'foo fighters', and more than I remember right now?
  8. True, but I did read the table of contents over on DriveThru, and it does have Joe Magarac which was my main question. Thanks for the help.
  9. Just a quick question (and I've been looking forward to this book since the start of 5th Ed, so thank you Mr. Watts). People keep mentioning finding Golden Age Champions on DriveThru. Just where exactly is it on the site? I just looked and all I found was the 4th Ed version.
  10. I've been away from Hero games and Champions for too long a time. Something I realized when I saw some of the wonderful new books in the store. Like "Larger Than Life' -- I wanted to see American folklore and tall tales characters in the game since 5th Ed's The Mystic World. And now you did it. Thank you, Mister Surbrook. This may be too big a question but I would like to know, just what characters are in the book? I'm pretty sure it has the big names like Pecos Bill and Paul Bunyan. But what about lesser names like Joe Magarac, John Henry, or Big Mose the Bowery Boy? Thanks to whoever responds.
  11. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Don't forget the Barbarian Brothers! I would buy full price tickets to see that movie. One of the best physical comedies of the 80's!
  12. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares Pyle: Shazam! *turns into guess who* Gee, sorry, Sarge,, but th' Wisdom o' Solomon says I gotta go help stop that mean ol' Doctor Sivana agin. I'll be back just's soon as I can."
  13. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Well, I finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, and I did like it. Though it was a head-scratcher for me with the people in the film complaining about the East India Company killing pirates (and others); what about all the people that the pirates killed (none of whom we saw onscreen, but still?). It feels all the odder to me given that I just read a book on modern piracy, written by someone who's experienced it first-hand, and it was downright creepy reading.
  14. Re: Genre-crossover nightmares "All the ponies in this town are crazy! Maybe I shouldn't have let them all read the Neigh-cronomicon..." Heck, I'll see your idea and raise you one: My Little Balladeer -- My Little Pony Friendship is Magic meets Manly Wade Wellman's John the Balladeer. Heck, I've written this one; go look for it on http://www.fimfiction.net/index.php?view=category&search=My+Little+Balladeer if you don't believe me.
  15. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Heh, maybe MLP did affect my brother to some extent after all, because he did say that he'd love to see have seen Vincent Price in Equestria. But then, he thinks anything can be improved by the addition of Vincent Price. *pause* As do I.
  16. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Just watched the first two episodes of MLP:FiM with my older brother. He likes Pinkie's motor mouth tendencies and thought that the Mayor was funny ("A mare. Who's the mayor. And she's old and grey. Uhhhh..."), but that aside he was pretty much 'meh'. Then we watched a local showing of that classic "lost" Vincent Price movie that was the first attempt at filming "I Am Legend". Cool and very weird.
  17. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Is there anything in particular wrong with it, or is it just generally a bad movie?
  18. Re: "Neat" Pictures This is almost true. Garrison Carida of the 501st (the main Star Wars fan organization) will be doing a show/whatever of them in full costume as Imperials at a nearby library this June.
  19. Re: "Neat" Pictures Are those guys in costumes, or is this a Photoshop?
  20. Re: "Neat" Pictures I want to see this Dark Horse crossover on the shelves. They can have the Red Skull as the Empire's latest enforcer and Lex Luthor as the resident Evil Genius. I was going to say, 'and replace Palpatine with Darkseid', but that might not work so well.
  21. Re: A Thread for Random Videos That reminds me of the porno Sunny (the lady from the WWE) did with her and "Tickle Me Elmo". And having seen this, I'm wondering how long before some brony tarts up his pony toys just so he can do something like this with them.
  22. Re: A Thread for Random Videos Lauren Faust is doing this, right?
