  1. Re: Shadow Angelus I've been thinking about that map and I came up with several ideas. The one I like best is to take this... Stretch the dimensions to get roughly 800 square miles and then merge it with this.... And end up with something looking like this... There has to be massive water channels running through the city into desalination tanks and probably the hydrostabilizers(?). There would also have to be some huge waste reclamation area. Divide the Marco Island map into city districts and run from there.
  2. Re: Shadow Angelus I've tried watching several shows provided by Edsel and save for Appleseed I haven't been able to enjoy them. It is the art and the sensibilities - like the 2 minute rain pans in Ghost in the Shell. I always found myself thinking - "wow, look they are panning to show how cool the graphics are..." So, you nailed it with the art. Some of the stories may be pure gold but if my eyes are bleeding it will not hold me. I really liked Appleseed. PS - thanks for the map link.
  3. Re: Shadow Angelus Yeah, I'd say I am pumped to be playing in this game. I've even gone through the extra trouble of creating extra characters and reading up on all the Silent Mobius stuff so that I can nail the flavor of anime Espers, Cyborgs, and Mages. Right now we are hammering on the details of Angelus. I am a mapping nut so the first thing I wondered about was "is there a map." I think between me and Edsel we'll find a way to produce a nice one. PS - could someone provide me a direct link to the map so I can see it? I don't want to snoop around inside the Angelus site and come across something that would ruin some of the fin. I spent most of today looking at how a floating city could be built and what kind of resources it would need and coming up with some pretty amazing images that I'll hand over to Edsel when I think about uploading them to our private files area. I really think this has potential to be a damn fine game based on the 20 pages we've seen so far. The funniest thing is... I hate anime.
  4. Re: Weekend Warriors -- Campaign Log The new game looks to be a hoot. Very strong anime vibe with some horror and urban fantasy thrown in. I think Edsel is basing it off something Susano wrote up and then adding his own spin. I am sitting here contemplating what type of character I am going to play. So many choices....
  5. Re: Storn Art from idea to Full Picture Year 6 The control room is deep in the bowels of the Prometheans Headquarter. There the mutant cyberpath Oracle is wired into the nations highspeed fiberoptics system monitoring everything from military com to criminal cell chatter. She is the heart of the machine - a human more alien than the tech she has fused with. Her awareness of the immediate surroundings gone save for the most urgent needs. Oracle is the leader of the heroic Prometheans. The first instinct is to go with the cliche image of the hot chick with tubes everywhere but that won't really do. I think an image of her floating in front of a reflective computer bank with the reflection looking like a city electrical grid (instead of her fleshy reflection) would be sweet. Probably a bit too much filler work for this... I keep thinking.
  6. Re: What books would you recommend? Sounds like you NEED the Ultimate Martial Artist. Some good options but not necessary... Hero System Bestiary (if you need critters) Monsters, Minions, And Marauders (if you need fantasy critters and monsters) Nobles, Knights, And Necromancers (if you want some rather cool NPCs and Dragons) I was uninspired by Enchanted Items. I'd consider the Grimiore (I and then II if you like the first) but I am somewhat partial to them.
  7. Re: [Campaign] The Last Dominion Yeah, your disads pretty much guarantee that I have to mess with Legato. Legato: Amnesia - such a lovely plot devise. Aria: I've gotten at least 10 points out of "Jerk Magnet" -- maybe even 15 points. Kaid Wingate: Poor Kaid was the whipping child for many adventures. All that Noble stuff. I need to take a long hard look at the Disads on Freya and Sera. I started toying with Sera last adventure... expect more.
  8. Re: [Campaign] The Last Dominion PS - happy birthday Campaign! You are officially 5 years old. There have been 60+ nights of gaming involved and many dice thrown.

  10. Re: [Campaign] The Last Dominion Since it was bumped I'll save myself some time and review where I am.... Fight in the Cornfields Halstead Manor Halsteads Villa The Lumber Factory I need to get these all updated and posted along with those danged Harvester Character Sheets. I also need to finish off the players guide to The Last Dominion. I need the magic section, mortal conflicts, and a few more paragraphs of the Supernatural Evil section. PS - We are discussing a possible resumption of the campaign. The play by post game continues going well after 10 months. The big question is whether or not we want to accelerate the ending of this game to start a new campaign or do we (new and old players) want to invest another 3-4 years to wrap the campaign up? If I skip forward I have a damn cool idea but it will still take another 10-15 game nights to end the campaign.
  11. Re: Expanded Unoffical Bibliography for Urban Fantasy HERO TV: Charmed, Brimstone, Witchblade, Gargoyles (animated) Movies: Hellrazor (most Clive Barker), Nightwatch/Daywatch, Wanted Possibly: 4400, Millennium, First Wave -- all have powered beings but probably more of a Sci-fi slant. Ditto with Babylon 5 and the Technomages. RPGs White Wolf: pretty much everything they produce except the Rome stuff. Unknown Armies Witchcraft Delta Green [alien horror versus dark champions]
  12. Re: Ansalon Thelanin I like him. History wise I'd cackle with glee if this sheet appeared from one of my players. Now, I would ask that you reconsider sinking 1/3 of the 150 point character in Martial Arts. Dropping 2 of the DC's and 1-2 maneuvers would be about right. Even the 200 point character seems a little flat with so much sunk into the style. Still, the build is good. Do you intend to use the non-weapon weapons very frequently and what is the damage expectations of the campaign (10-11 DC). You are putting up some whopping damage at 150 points. You basically knock yourself out each time you hit which leads me to believe the damage is on the high side. I'd consider some of the following... That is what I would say in my game but you know the GM and it obviously isn't me. Still, smoking background and awesome possibilities!
  13. Re: Three Villians, one picture, no ideas.. One Contest... DEMON Morbane: Tanner Ban Recruiter: Lazrus Jones Vessel: John Scott / Astir The Morbane has come up with a plan to wipe out XXX in Hudson City. With the aid of one of DEMONs best recruiters they have scoured the streets rounding up volunteers and those who might be compatible to harbor a demons soul. They have half a dozen such vessels now and wait only for the heroes to show up providing themselves as vessels for even more power demon servitors.
  14. Re: Pathfinder Campaign book Et tu, Brute? I still think the notes of Iquander are little adventure goldmines.
  15. Re: DC limitations The special effects of 4,5, & 6 are suspect. I doubt that I would allow those. The rest work for me with a 15 DC cap. See above for AP versus DC caps.
  16. Re: Daredevil-like senses and PER Mods The Wyrm's suggestions work well. +40 RMod is pretty much mega scale. Just as a suggestion.... Passive Listening: +12 RMOD Active Listening: +6 RMOD, +5 PER MOD Now, distance yourself from the fact that he is blind and what he can "see" is invisible. What mods do you put on tracking someone through a city? Well, if you can follow them then it is pretty easy. If they are wading into a crowd of 20,000 passer-by then it doesn't matter what your skill roll would be... just as if you were sighted. Look at Tracking in FH for some guidance. Time Mods, Popularity of Odor Mods [Did you see the silver minivan? What do you mean there were 30 of them!], and environmental factors all play a roll [You sanitized the whole room!]. A good rule of thumb -2 = Challenging, -5 = Flat out hard. If you have penalties for Time, Strength/Uniqueness of Scent, and Interference about the best you can rack up is a -15 to the roll but most likely it will be in the -6 to -10 range.
  17. Re: Yet another Fantasy Hero Weapons Thread... Correct. It is just a reduced scale... 11 for tough guys, 13 for Super-Bad Monkies, and 15 for the Die Hard - John McClain types who just won't die. Conan, Achilles, and their ilk might rise a bit higher.
  18. Re: The Warlords of Winter POST Well, it has been several months (9 to be precise) since the game fired up. Maybe I should think about updating this thread. MAJOR PLOT POINTS Olynvale was attacked by primitive bandits resulting in several deaths Hints of an even greater attack prompted the Banner Lord to keep his knights close - a eclectic party of woodsmen, barbarians, and soldiers volunteered to chase down the cowardly dogs who murdered their friends. A chase through the wilderness ended in a rocky ravine. The killers were ambushed by a third party and a three-way war broke out. The new party were barbaric folk bent on killing every last one of the primitive bandits. They didn't hesitate to work on the party either. Back in Olynvale an attack occurred which drew several of the knights out of town. A stranger hunting a vile criminal was killed along with a few knights. The stranger was known to be an agent of Touren and a elite warrior. A change has come over Olynvale since the attack - bad dreams, sour milk, still births. Many people begin to worry that something more sinister than simple raids is going on. The party heads south once more to find the leader of the barbarians who attacked the town and also the leader of the men who killed the primitives The party settle into Hurthangs village posing as mercenaries and blending with a few hundred like-minded thugs. The mercs and Hurthang have expended a fair amount of good will and protection to the poor. They have also begun to train them for an uprising against the Count. Wyl's talent for necromancy is discovered by Grandfather and he is brought into the household of Hurthang and Grandfather for "training." Wyl discovers Kat a horribly abused young woman in the household of Hurthang and the decrepit old man known as the "Grandfather." Wyl takes her under his wing but her blood boils with thoughts of revenge. Hurthang uses a weapon known as Hoarfrost to keep his men in line. It is said that the blade was given to him by a goddess [The Pale Queen, The White Mistress, The Master of the Crystal Palace] and that her power would strike dead anyone who defiled the blade. The party discover the Counts army is on it way to end the insurrection and discover that Hurthang plans to betray his army to be slaughtered. Wyl discovers that others can touch the blade - it is, in part, fueled by Grandfathers necromancy. Hurthang leaves town with his elite scouts to ferret out the approaching armies plan. Seizing the chance, the party strikes while Hurthang does not carry Hoarfrost. After a risky battle Hurthang and his companions lie dead. I've left a good deal out -- including all the funnest stuff such as the current party strife. Pae is the Counts son but his father isn't a man to be admired. His noble attitude has set off a few fireworks. The simple woodsmen (4 members of the party) mostly balk at plans like burning parts of a town to flush the bad guys out. Wyl, a mage with a talent for necromancy, flirts with evil and worries the rest of the party but his talent for healing in a world where few can heal is looked upon with awe.
  19. Re: Yet another Fantasy Hero Weapons Thread... I've already found my "sweet spot" for Fantasy and Dark Champions. ROUGHLY Reduced BODY Maxima Generally, +1DC to weapons Lower STR Min by 3-4 Top Out Armor around 9 rPD
  20. Re: Yet another Fantasy Hero Weapons Thread...
  21. Re: Yet another Fantasy Hero Weapons Thread...
  22. Re: Yet another Fantasy Hero Weapons Thread... I tend to keep the STR Mins lower. It just seems weird that a normal man cannot reasonably use a common weapon like a mace, francisca, or morningstar. It also allows a little more umph in the damage. Resistant Piercing is one way that I "unique-ify" weapons in my setting. Longbows punching through 4 Points of Armor sorta makes them feared as all get out. TLD Resources - the third post down has a fairly extensive list of weapons used in The Last Dominion setting.

Re: Unity StormWatch is the UN team in the Wildstorm line (includes WildC.A.T.S.). There is a high level of lethality to the series with several characters being killed or wounded in action. The Stormwatch teams are deployed according to UN monitors and Weatherman One - a cyberneticly augmented human who monitors the various "hotspots" in the world. Updating the series would practically require sending a team into Afghanistan and/or Iraq with inevitable clashes with Iranian supers as well as something like a Chinese team sent to covertly disrupt Stormwatch or US armed forces. Lots of double dealing and tit-for-tat in the Stormwatch world on a governmental scale. Good concept and good execution until Ellis decided that he wanted to write a different comic. He basically killed the team and created The Authority from the ashes of Stormwatch. Things Going for Original StormWatch Multi-National Team Members Strike Force type missions Dirty Politics during down time On going conflicts that require multiple missions or whose completion falls outside of mission parameters. Variable team roster The main negative for this style game was often used in the comic - Following orders when they contradict common sense or decency. I.E. The UN pulling out in the face of an invading force knowing that a massacre is about to happen or being told that Stormwatch is standing down against a threat to a players homeland. The series included racism, religious intolerance, profiteering, and other uncomfortable topics -- which made it cool in my book.
  24. Re: Champions Online on X-Play Looks sweet. I think I might try a MMO. I don't like to admit it in public but I've been saving myself for someone special. Yes, I'm a virgin. Don't laugh. Moma always told me it was beautiful to wait. Something special.
