Well, it is where it is. She and I spend time together; she calls me when she needs to vent, I call her when I am too lonely to sit by myself another minute. I've seen the writing on the wall for sometime. She isn't much of a decision maker, and neither am I, left to our own devices we might spend literally years in a quasi-separated marriage of inconvenience. But her parents lead and she follows. I know now that by the time December rolls around, my marriage will be over and they'll probably push to have her break off contact entirely. That will be the ultimate test. I am hopeful that we might eventually reconcile and move forward together; but until we can both think for ourselves and direct ourselves we would only be drifting along and never truely happy.
At least that's what I tell myself. I have no real interest in dating someone else, or rather, I can't forsee that happening, I don't go out, I don't meet women my age at work, I am a pretty solitary fellow and can really turn off the charm when I am in a snit, or simply drift away. And that was when I was with her. Now its even worse.
I have always been afraid of the world and wrapped myself in the bubble wrap of routine. I "go with the flow" so much I think I've lost my spine.

Of course, I am going to Gen Con this year. Flew to London by myself, own a car. Might be getting a serious upgrade in employment soon, could conceivably get out of debt in the next two or three years... I don't know. I'm kind of having to take the wheel of my life for the first time and I am unsure what to do with this shifter thingy.

I tend to be more blind optimist than pragmatist, so I feel good about each coming day, even if I don't embrace it like it's my last.

Anyway, thanks for your well wishes:D

THREE THINGS TO THINK ABOUT IN 2005: COWS, CONSTITUTION, AND THE TEN COMMANDANTS.

COWS: Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

CONSTITUTION: They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq.
Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse! You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile work environment!

Well, they sprang from the fact that when I got Creation Workshop and hero creator, the Champions New Millenium Eurostar was there. They were different enough from the originals that I thought of forming a rival villain team.

It grew from there. Basically Divine Right is a combination of not-quite-mastervillain level villains and RAVEN. They are made up of about (at the moment) half a dozen (mostly European) supervillains who want to rule the world. Their main strenth is that they have banded together and pooled their resources and have a relatively simple plan for divying up the world once its theirs. Their main weakness is they form cliques and plot eachothers demise once the world is theirs. Aside from the newly joined Barron Terror and his "Terror Incorporated". The Council of Monarchs act as far behind the scenes as possible. They each have agents with similar technology but differing uniforms to further hide the fact that they are one powerful organization rather than several smaller ones. Its this ability to seem like the "lesser evil" when compared to VIPER, or even ARGENT, that keeps the world spanning UNTIL mostly off their backs. According to some, the organization was started in 1945, but this isn't true, it was started thousands of years BC. The three oldest and most powerful members represent civilizations that died befre Rome was an empire.

Okay, we're on a boat, boat gets attacked while we are sleeping. Everyone is grabbing their gear and running to see what is wrong. Everyone but me. Magnyr Burk spent a lot of money buying half plate that has the "boyancy" abilitiy. So, I put it on.
Apparently, donning half plate takes alot of time. (4 minutes)...so the combat lasts 18 rounds and over two minutes after it is over I burst forward from the cabin I was in and yell, "Geez! You guys look like hell!"

Running joke. We started a dungeon crawl recently. My character, an elf mage told the other party members that he was going to make his name on this dungeon. That he would make it his own.

So they wrote up a "Deed" for him.

We find a secret door, follow a rough hewen, narrow passage to a room with a wooden throne and an advanced Ghast. He cackles and tells us how glad he is to finally have "visitors" after so long.

Althian (My mage): Okay this room will not do for a throne room. *Turns to dwarven mage* Get your people on widening that hallway at the very least.

I don't want to start a crying thread. So...

Today, I signed a lease for an apartment today and I move in on the 6th of May. And then, for all intents and purposes my marriage will be over. I will most likely not see my wife or my dog again. I was a homeowner for all of 5 months. The person who has been my constant companion for the last 15 years no longer wants that responsibility and I will be alone.
I gotta say that I've felt like a failure alot in the last few years. I never finished college, I'm not working in the field I'd most like to, and I certainly am no financial success. Getting a house was the first step towards that. But now that's gone and the marriage is over. I'm feeling pretty low, and that's not even counting the dejection. I already miss my wife; she made this decision before I even knew there were issues. Then we talked it out for a few months and the last three or four months have been us coming to grips and me starting to look out places to live. So today, I have found a place and it's all starting for "Real". I dunno. I feel empty, but a little excited, I've never lived on my own. I'm leaving all the furniture and everything there. I plan on buying all my own stuff. Sure 55% of my income is gone, but it looks like my expenses are being cut in half too. We'll see how things fare.

Anyway, in a blatant attempt for sympathy, I lay my broken heart at your feet.

I'll probbably be away in the evenings until I get my internet going. (yay! Another connection fee!)
