  2. Re: Mars has water! And I thought this thread was going to be about this: http://www.sweetconfusion.net/misc/marswater.gif ..Sorry, work joke.
  3. Re: Hey there Little Buckaroo: The Banzai Primer I'm kind of upset that there is no reference to Ms. Johnson. But otherwise very well done.
  4. Re: UNTIL Uniforms - Now I know why they BUG me so much. Uhmm.. Rawhide, not Cowboy http://www.badmovies.org/movies/buckaroo/index.html
  5. Re: Bec De Corbin As a separate followup.. yes, I realize the site is little more than a retail site and they are merely posting whatever the manufacturer gives them. I have seen the same descriptions verbatim for several of the weapons. However, it has in my opinion the nicest image of what I was looking form.
  6. Re: Bec De Corbin That is similar to what I came up with.. Though I also noted 1d6+1k for the hammer, and a 4d6 Regular Attack for the staff or blunt end. I did not do my homework regarding grappling though.. I thought having a decent meal and doing my laundry was a better use of my time.. silly me.
  7. I'm not sure if this information exists at the moment, I have no way of checking at the moment.. my Fantasy Hero book is spending some quality time with our GM. Anyway, is there a writeup for the polearm known as the Bec De Corbin? For the visually minded, it's the first weapon on this page: http://www.bytheswordinc.com/acatalog/Pole_Weapons.html If there is no existing writeup, and I have to do it myself, any suggestions? I'm thinking an AP attack for the hook, a regular attack for the spear as well as the hammer/claw end. And since I'm going to be using it on board a ship, any thoughts for using it as a grapple/gaff? I'm at work so really don't have much more than thoughts on the subject.
  8. Re: good FH minis? I second this, but with more veins popping out of my head and an odd chant of 'ReaperReaperReaper' as I run down the halls with a pile of cash in each hand. Ok, not so much the running down the halls part.. since I do most of my ordering online. I seem to have removed the Fantasy Miniatures section from my site or I would link you to some of the ones I have. Since I'm moving, I'm no real mood to take more pictures, and well the camera is packed.
  9. Re: Scanning Favor PM has been sent. You should have links and stuff now.
  10. Re: Scanning Favor I have a 'visual guide to aliens' in pdf if you want it, it does not include the stuff from Xenovore Wars (yet) I'll post it if there is interest.. I'll send you the Toractan scan soon enough.
  11. Re: Any date for the Ultimate Mentalist? wheeeeee.... Sorry you all had to witness that.
  12. Re: Your "Character Sheet Resources" Ok, these are 'ours' sort of a joint project for HeroDesigner and MS Excell. It's designed to get as much useful information onto one page. The back or second sheet, is mainly used for notes as well as importing background/personality. I have included an export for both V2 and V3, as well as a character sheet with 24 smaller power slots vs. 18 on the regular sheet. I also have one for vehicles, in a very similar style.. if there is interest.
  13. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. Ok, hopefully the final update. nyway, we used the truck last week. My monitor blew, so I have not been updating. As I said before, we are Marines, and we were given 30 days leave. So we decided to circumnavigate Mars itself. Things we learned: The Captain should not bring his girlfriend on an extended trip when the rest of the group are Marines. Poor Girl, I hope she recovers. A Winch would have been nice, we kept to smooth terrain, because well we did not have one. It's been added. More Speed would be nice, for some people... it was added but I don't think it is really needed. The Ability to drive during the Martian Night. Solved through creative application of alien power storage that we are probably commiting all sorts of crimes by using. Always carry a gun, or at least some loud speakers... At one point during our trek we encountered basically buffalo. (Genetic Engineering gone right for the most part) Anyway, we were in a big truck 'invading' their territory.. so the decided to do all sorts of crazy things to us. We only had Gauss Weaponry and one Laser Rifle, neither of which make the kind of noise we needed to scare off a herd of buffalo. The PA was added as a Multipower 'This one goes to 11' represents my characters very poor skill with a guitar.
  14. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. The entire concept of the vehicle moving on water is really a side effect of having massive air filled wheels. In much the same way a Monster Truck can 'drive' over water. It is not really designed for it, however it can do it. It's not pretty, it's not graceful, it's merely possible. Good Question about the food.. I too would assume 30 man days worth of supplies (now that I have actually thought about it) With 5 people, that would only last 6 days. I may have to rethink that one. Mars is farther away from the Sun.. A tricky one.. Based on The Ultimate Vehicles (or Maybe Star Hero, both books are with a friend at the moment) entry on Solar Panels a 12/12 Solar Panel is 'standard'. Both the book, and my job, tell me that they are not as effective the further away you are from the sun. The book mentions half as effective on Mars so that is the option I went with. So, yes it is 6/6. There are a slew of similar limitations based on distance from the sun, since this particular big ugly truck is on Mars, I only bothered to add that limitation. I suppose for completeness sake, I could note all of them. The only usable in daylight is based on the fact that well, it's solar powered. I agree that the limitation should only be on the recovery, but HeroDesigner does not print the limitations (or advantages) on REC with and END Reserve, so I put them on the Reserve itself so it would show up.
  15. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. For some reason, my instinct was to use Flash, I have no idea why. Flash = Noticeable, I suppose. Shrug. I fixed it, and update the web page.
  16. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. Ok, I have updated the vehicle. I'm not totally sold on the laser comm, as I have seen it written up as a mind link as well. I'm not to sure what the better option is really. Replaced the leaping with stretching, which either way strikes me as amusing. I also added the machine shop, for when we do get all the bits. Gave the life support a one month duration. I also added a battery. I think the Panic Button/Emergency Beacon needs some work... but I'm stumped.
  17. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. Ok, I'm heading to a meeting, so I'll update the vehicle itself when I return. But, in order. 1) True it's an 'every vehicle' item. I added them merely for completeness sake. 2) Lasercomm.. I'll add it. 3) I was originally thinking hydraulics, but the little I have looked into it leads me to believe this is not the right choice. I also though pnuematics to pull the suspension, but that could lead to more trouble. I'll have to think about that one a little bit more. 4) It is operating far from support, but to date we have not scrounged enough stuff to make a proper machine shop. So basically it's a portable toolkit, which is not reflected on the vehicle sheet. The Paramedics bonus is based on an infirmary which I only have about half the pieces for so far. 5) Not much more than maybe a 'flight recorder' and whatever personal computers we have. 6) There may have been RPV's in this vehicle past. But as originally stated, we pulled this thing out of the junk pile and got it running again. thanks.
  18. Re: Little Help - Ground Exploration Vehicle. Fifth Power Down "There is a Fridge over there, the bunks fold down.:" I was bouncing in and out of used car salesman speak for some of the names. I did forget about the radiation bit. I went with balloon wheels for a reason, there are several bodies of water in this version of Mars, one of them has a large fish that is not supposed to be there. That is one of the things we want to look at.
  19. Hey all, Our current campaign has us on Mars some 100 years after terraforming has begun. Which gives us a semi breathable atmosphere, however most folks still live in domes etc.. So.. being player characters and all, we just can't leave well enough alone. We have seen some thing on the surface that we want to look at. Being Marines, and not a slouch with a wrench we are re-commisioning an old vehicle (read, pulling out of the junk pile.) What we are envisioning is some sort of long term science/exploration vehicle. However, we are going to pull any of the science equipment if it's still around. Something akin to the Antartic Vehicle from the Pulp Forum. So, basically this is what I have come up with, http://www.sweetconfusion.net/misc/Mars_Truck.html Thoughts, suggestions, gross oversights?
  20. Re: Greatest Post-Apoc Film of All Time grargh... this movie is terrible.. That being said, anyone in the Pasadena/Montrose/Glendale area who are up for a viewing, I think we can put something together. I just have to remember to vacuum. Bring Beer, it will help.
  21. Re: Time to learn skills. Therein lies the problem.. spiffy magic sword #2 gives him +2 SPD and +6 OCV. As well as a bonus vs. undead. Spiffy Magic Sword #1 is +4 OCV and has a massive bonus vs. undead, it is also intelligent and really likes killing undead and dragons. Needless to say, the sword really likes the idea. So, undead aside I am at a minimum of +7 OCV (with combat levels) and act almost twice as often as everyone else. He might get hit, but opponents do not stand for long. Crap.. I really wanted to raise my endurance too.. ugh.
  22. This is a question about some specific skills, but in general it's good to know. Anyway, I have a character who has come across a spiffy magic sword. This makes two spiffy magic swords. Since the character is a brash youth, he wants to attempt to weild both of them. However, it's going to take an obnoxious number of points to get the +3 DCV back from the shield I'd be dropping. So, the character is very martial (a knight in fact) and would be training in secret. How long in game would it take for the character to realize what the player knows. Given a 15 point overconfidence, I'm going to say like two months, practicing the new style for maybe an hour a day. And walking away with a WF: Off hand. Does this sound reasonable?
  23. Re: Unarchetypal Heroes Hmm.. I had a character in a High Fantasy game, he was a Goblin Trader. All sorts of social skills, his previous owner.. err.. Master thought it would be funny to train him in the courtly arts and things like that. He trained him a bit too well, because he bought his freedom, and eventually bought up all his previous masters debt and hired him the be the respectable face to the organization. That game also had a Pixie Thief and a typical Barbarian you know Big, Dumb and Pretty. Currently I'm runnning a Knight Engineer. Not to odd, but he does have a bad habit of building trebuchet and ballistae if forced to stay in one place for too long.
  24. Re: Keeping Healing in Check Well, in our current game healing 'spells' (it's more like prayer) work out like this. 2d6 healing, +2d6 if the target is the same religion (gods help a bit) +2d6 if you happen to be love in with the target. The spell has to be bought this way, does not work in combat (one minute (IIRC), 0 DCV) and can only be used once per wound. This is currently costing a little more than half of our healers end, I think she will pass out if she ever heals her true love. There was also a limitation that the target had to basically lie still for 24 hours, but we got rid of it because we are rash youth, and basically never listened to the her when she told us that. Especially after we got armor that basically fixed itself (and therefore could keep our guts in) edit: I should add, that the party members are somewhat prominant figures, and we have only met two other people who can cast healing spells. And one person with 'healing potions' it turns out he was a necromancer, and that my character has the 'stench of death' surrounding him because of it.
  25. Re: Buckaroo Banzai Lives! hehe Strangely (not) that's what is says on the back on my shirt.
