  2. Re: Book Of The Machine Available Well, since they arrived, and no one said anything... I'd assume they all arrived safely.
  3. Re: Book Of The Machine Available They came from two completely different printers. Book Of The Machine was printed in China. Lucha Libre was printed in Canada.
  4. Re: portable computers - too much? One thing I keep coming back to is the idea of a Normal Equipment Pool for Superheroic Games. You get a free pool to dump "stuff" into that can be found off the shelf. I just don't know the best way to implement it, if you model it after Equipment Pools from Dark Champions (where I got the idea) you're still stuck building all this normal equipment. Maybe just assign Normal Stuff a value, from 1/2 a point to 5 points. Normal Income can get anything worth 2 points or less. 1-5 Points in Wealth let's you get anything worth 3 points or less 6-10 in Wealth is 4 or less 11-15 Wealth is 5 or less (essentially any off the shelf item you can buy in 'the real world') you can access a single item worth 1 point more than you have access to, but it takes up twice as many points in your pool to reflect the effect on your relative wealth. Every can access up to 15-20 points worth of stuff. This includes carried (cell phones, laptops) and otherwise (apartments, houses, cars, luxury yachts). Adds some book keeping, but gives a gauge to just what does this guy have? And naturally lets us kill the argument about carrying around flash lights, cell phones and other paraphenalia.
  5. Re: End: Should he go the way of Com? I made a slight edit for the Burning Stun (1d6/10 AP) to match Pushing. I think it'd be an interesting system to use that is a bit faster (removes book keeping) and may even let combats run longer ("more heroicly") assuming you go past 1-2 Turns.
  6. Re: End: Should he go the way of Com? Let's see... Endurance Talent. for +1 Points in the Talent you can power up to a 10 Active Point Power for 1 Phase. for +2 Points you double the number of Powers you can keep active each Phase. So... +6 Points to power up to a single 60 Active Point Power. +2 Points let's you have 2 Powers active in a Phase, each up to 60 AP. 8 Points let's you Move & Shoot every Phase, given a "suggested standard" of 60 Active Points. Pushing: by Making an EGO Roll you can power 1 Extra Power per Phase or add +10 Active Points to an already active Power. The GM may award more based on how much you made the EGO Roll by. Burning Stun: Alternately you can 'burn stun' - instead of making an Ego Roll you take 1D6 Stun for every 10 Active Points in powers you wish to increase; or a flat 2d6 Stun to activate 1 additional Power that phase. You get no defeses against this Stun Damage. Edit Starting END: Everyone gets 1 Point free, you can use up to One 10 AP Power per Phase for free. So the cost of my example is 7 Points. This let's Normals run away. How's that sound for replacing Endurance with a Talent?
  7. Re: End: Should he go the way of Com? Most of the games I've ditched it in are Modern Genres - notably Cyberpunk and Military games. It doesn't interrupt anything to remove it from those games - either in execution or concept. The rest of the time, the game plays better with it, IMO.
  8. Re: End: Should he go the way of Com? I don't like the title of this thread. Comliness has not been removed, it has been replaced with a more defined mechanic. Fer cryin' out loud. So unless you're proposing to replace Endurance with a different Mechanic you have the premise all wrong. And I've played in game that ignore END usage. Generally, not too different, but you don't get "Down to the wire" in fights which always proves to up the intensity level and sweetens the taste of victory that much more.
  9. Re: Musings on Random Musings You did. It's in the 6E Confirmed Changes Thread. I put it there. I can send it to you if you'd like. You even Repped me for it.
  10. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far CON is your Stunned Threshold. Any Attack that does more Stun Damage past defenses than you have CON Score will Stun you.
  11. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far I'm playing in Oddhat's games from now on. Though I'd make a request for Maker's Mark 90 proof whiskey.
  12. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far decipher a complete book with a few letters on hand....
  13. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far As Alibear said - you cannot assign CSLs more than once a phase.
  14. Re: What do you know? Yes you can. It usually means that both Powers use the same Incantations & Gestures etc... It's a Compound Power - in many ways it's One Power With Multiple Mechanics/Effects.
  15. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far You don't need to perform a Maneuver for CSLs to apply. I have +5 Hand To Hand CSLs. I make a Full Move to my opponent and say "My CSLs are in DCV" I have performed no Maneuvers, I am in combat. My CSLs apply. (I may be avoiding attacks, but I have performed no Combat or Martial Maneuvers)
  16. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far If you're Surprised or Out Of Combat - your DCV is halved. Levels aren't added and halved, they're just not used. Base DCV is Halved. Which means that Dex provided CV Levels have some kind of persitence outside of combat that Combat Skill Level CVs do not have. Must be modeled if you're going to try and base a CV Characteristic off of CSLs for costing guesses.
  17. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far Yeah, but Persistent is cheaper. . . . Not gonna argue the values - don't care that much - but if I'm gonna get my CV from "only works during combat" to "works out of combat" I'm going with the cheaper value in this case.
  18. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far OCV and DCV from Dex persist out of combat and during surprise. OCV and DCV from CSLs do not apply to either. It needs to be modeled in some how.
  19. Re: A Thread for Random Musings The Stupid, it hurts.
  20. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far Beast, Your assessment if values and Limitations is incorrect for every game I have ever played in. Anyways, I'm in no mood to argue over it.
  21. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far Your lack of punctuation is annoying BTW. Alright, let's start with an 8 Point Combat Skill Level. It provides: +1 OCV or +1 DCV or 1/2 Damage Class or OECV or DECV. It doesn't really provide 1/2 a Damage Class - but we need to model that you can add 2 CSLs to get +1 DC and give it a value. 8 pt CSL; Persistent = 12 Active Points. Now, what's the value of; Does Not Provide DCV (or OCV) Does Not Provide OECV Does Not Provide DECV Does Not Provide Damage Even if you pop each of them at a -1/4 each (the minimum) that's a total of -1. For a cost of 6 Points Each. Or do you really think only choosing one of 4 Possible CVs is worth a -1/2? I certainly don't.
  22. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far mostly, I was pointing out your math was based on faulty logic.
  23. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far 1) DCV Combat Skill Levels are 5 Points. 2) You forgot that normal CVs cannot do Damage, which CSLs can do. 3) Your point cost does not account for a Base OCV or Base DCV. I'm assuming people will have some.
  24. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far I ran across a cool little chart from OSHA courtesy of my mom once. It went through the various combinations of Volts and Amps versus Time required to kill - as found in common workplace equipment. Lightbulbs were a lot more lethal than I would have given them credit for. Assuming you hang into the fillament for a short period. But it did cover the idea that some electricity will lock your muscles, killing you by preventing you from letting go. Some will toss you clear, causing a lot of burning. And some will induce cardiac arrest. It was cool.
