  1. Re: Stingray is Up Direct conflict, no. Not much. But conquering Atlantis has long been a background motivation for Lemuria. Almost a driving force. I like that it's being brought more to the front. Remember, Lemuria didn't last through the cataclysm and make it out the other side, they transported through time. They haven't had 10,000 years to forget about Atlantis, for them the conflict is much much closer.
  2. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... Mechanics: Desolidification. since the system is not Utterly Absolute, you will need to define SFX that can hurt you. And the Affects Desolidification Power will effect the target, but the SFX of that Effect are between the GM and Players. The System exists nearly in a vacuum, it needs a Game to be fully implemented.
  3. Re: Force Field Is No Good? I've always questioned requiring a specific Subset Defense Power (like PD Force Field instead of just PD) as a basis for NND. I have, will continue to take, NND: Defense Is a Force Field to mean a Special Effect of Force Field. Be it Armor, Force Field, PD, PD+Damange Resistance, Force Wall or even an Entangle defined as a "force field." regarding cost effectivess, I've always taken umbrage with the idea of trying to model one Power with another Power. Force Field and Armor are two contepually different Powers, that can be used to quickly model very conceptually different ideas of defenses as defined by Special Effect.
  4. Re: EGO Attack Ego Attack builds... always amuse me. It's the only Mental Power that has been modeled after another power, on the arbitrary basis that it does damage. All Mental Powers share a few common characteristics. Line Of Sight, Visible to one Sense Group - being the two more prominent. Some would toss Indirect into that mix, but I don't buy that line of thought. Does Ego Attack have those because it was built into the model, or does it have those by virtue of being placed in the Mental Powers Category. Sort of an unspoken Simulated Power Category concept. Much like Simulated Sense Groups - buy a Detect, define it as Sight and you get several things "for free" by virtue of putting it in that Sense Group. Obviously, it's not really explicite or up front. But then - I don't buy Ego Attack is a modified Energy Blast either. It's a separate Power created for a specific grouping. It was placed in and matched against similar powers in the Mental Group. Mind Control can be far more dangerous a Power, and it costs half as much.
  5. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... You're not reasoning from effect enough.
  6. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... whatever.
  7. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... No it doesn't. It just doesn't state anything explicitly by RAW. However, you have the foundation to make it so. 5 Active Points / 1 Damage Class is an underlying principle (5ER p558). Using that you can easily extrapolate a Characteristic Damage Adding Mechanic should you need it. Otherwise, you can utilize Hyper-Man's suggestion regarding the use of Deadly Blow, or some other mechanic, with a Limitation tying it to a specific Characteristic. But it is absolutely Untrue to say Hero System lacks that flexibility. On the contrary, it builds it into the underlying principles of the system.
  8. Re: Construction Question It's fine as is. When buying multiple forms of Damage Reduction as one construct it's fine to treat them as a single entity. Hero Designer is gonna tweak at you but who cares. Apply it to both sides, it applies once when the Power is used (or wears off in this case).
  9. Re: MegaScale Missle Deflection erm... you can't deflect Area Of Effect Attacks normally, and you can't apply Area Of Effect to Missile Deflect. Please clarify your statement.
  10. Re: MegaScale Missle Deflection You only need to Megascale Missile Deflection if you plan on Missile Deflecting at Megascale level Ranges.
  11. Re: Can't start a thread on the 6E Forum? talk about bad timing, that year you were out is the year the 6E forums were open.
  12. Re: Can't start a thread on the 6E Forum? They're closed, Steve closed them around April or so. He read through them all. He should be done writing the rules by now if we're to have the books by GenCon. I'd check the front page announcement for the actual status.
  13. Re: 6E, 1st non backwards compatible Hero? It will be backwards compatible. Some costs will change, but all the elements will be there. Steve has stated this will be the case from the onset.
  14. Re: a question on bleeding At Negative starting BODY he dies (not CON). You can keep going as long as your Stun is positive.
  15. Re: Lift Based on Margin of Success Oh sorry, no, that was supposed to be 81kg+ I was changing numbers in the middle of my thought process and forgot to make sure I was consistent. Mostly because I pulled the numbers out of thin air. Sorry 'bout that.
  16. Re: Lift Based on Margin of Success I would start with the idea that a Base Roll provides a Base Lift without needing to succeed. This Base Lift would be not the Maximum Lift, but approximately half that. Say, an 11- gets you an absolute maximum of 100kg, anything at 50kg or less, or non-bulky, can be lifted with ease, and without rolling. 51-80kg (80%) requires only a successful roll. 76+ requires a success of +1/10 kg. To lift the full 100 kg you need to roll 9-, and then you can get it off the ground and not much else. Every success above that will increase the weigh you can lift by some amount, say 10kg. So a normal person can try and lift a 120kg object, but must success by 4 to do so on 11-. Increasing your roll increases your base lift - so the higher your roll the more predictably you can lift heavy objects, the easier it becomes to lift moderately heavy objects, and the better chance you have of lifting very heavy objects. As some thoughts on the subject.
  17. Re: Teleport redirection I've nothing truly serious to offer this discussion... Missile Reflecton: Teleporters. I found the idea amusing.
  18. Re: Stingray is Up Well, can't have Lemurians without Atlanteans. Really. I'm glad we're starting to see the other side of that conflict brought forth.
  19. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... Safe Blind Teleport "500 miles East." boom. Likely a Multipower with a combo suite of Normal & Megascaled Teleport.
  20. Re: 6e Characteristics We don't have Thread Drift so much as Thread Migration. As for Characteristics, we've got just as many as before, only now we can but them all up and down separately to fit things juuuusst right.
  21. Re: Mottos for use in games I've no idea about Virginia - but the phrase comes from the Navy during the Revolutionary War when Sout Carolina Colonel Gadsden commissioned a yellow flag with a coiled rattlesnake and the words Don't Tread On Me under it. The Gadsden Flag is the earliest known use of that phrase in the US I'm aware of. The only places I've really seen in it modern times is South Carolina and the occasional Boy Scout Troop (I never asked...)
  22. Re: END to END Reserve Attack Personally, I don't have a problem moving the Recovery on an END Reserve to match the Phase the Drain was used. By RAW, you can't ever recover more than once a Turn anyways. Your "potential Recovery" should never exceed your Purchased Recovery, IMO. The Per Turn only really comes into play if you need to replenish the Reserve during combat. Outside of Combat it's not much of an issue. The pro-rated Recovery is mentione under Endurance Reserve in the text as well, in this case I would say you Drain the Target of whatever, and then the Recovery kicks in, prorating the actual Drained value over the next Turn at which point you can try and Recovery more if it's not full.
  23. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... Personally... everything has a mass. Even a light particle has mass. You can't not have mass. Non-Corporeal has nothing to do with mass. it's just a lot less mass, possibly in some kind of inbetween energy state.
  24. Re: Finding something Hero System can't model... Heck, you could purchase Running as a Movement not based on STR. Any non-muscled powered SFX will do the trick.
