  1. Re: WWYCD #100: IHA Attack!! Cannis snarls, “Anti-mutant hate groups, corporations that experiment on us, not to mention the containment camps and murders Adam saw happening in the future….and now they are sending GIANT ROBOTS AFTER US?†She starts out by capturing one of the agents and forcing him to provide as much information (weaknesses of the robots, locations of their bases, etc) as she can get out of him. Once she finds out the location of a nearby base, she sneaks in and steals any information and equipment that might be helpful. If possible, she disables the robots from the base. If not, she does a whole lot of damage on her way out. She then works with the rest of her team to help the rest of the mutants and other supers in the city deal with the robots and army of agents. Once the robots and agents are defeated, Trish Tilby gets a phone call offering her an exclusive interview with Cannis and all of her teammates. With a bit of coaching from Adam and some practice before hand, the interview may well end up becoming a call to action for mutants everywhere and a strong warning about what will happen if they sit idly by and allow humanity to determine the fate of mutantkind. Cannis and her teammates then utilize a variety of methods to put the IHA out of business for good including a mixture of physical attacks, assassinations, thefts, property damage, leaked information, and even some political and business attacks. Sailor Io stares at the TV in shock and horror. ~This can’t be happening….~ After a moment she quickly realizes, “They’ve got to be heading straight for the Mah-ki’s island.†She immediately sends Senshi, under a flag of truce if necessary, to warn the various supernatural groups and tell them that, unlike a millennium ago, this time the Senshi will be fighting to protect them from this group of humans and robots. However, the Senshi will make very clear that this is just a battle against the IHA and not against humanity as a whole and that the Senshi will act to prevent attacks against random humans. Once that is done, the Senshi and any others that wish to join them in the battle, will deal with the robot and agents. The Senshi won’t hesitate to use their most devastating attacks against the robot, but will attempt to incapacitate the humans without killing them. Due to the power level differences between the supernaturals and human weaponry, the Minutemen will be defeated fairly rapidly. That is when the true challenge will occur—namely preventing the Mah-ki and other supernatural groups from continuing the battle against innocent humans. Ultimately this event would have a huge impact. At best, the world will undergo a dramatic change as people come to realize that powerful creatures from myth and legend do exist. At worst there will be slaughter as the same powerful creatures decide that this time they are going to destroy humanity before humanity can once again begin the witch trials, and other slaughters that drove them into hiding so long ago.
  2. Re: WWYCD? #102: Something Followed Us Home... Cannis: “And you led it HERE?†She considers for a second, “The city’s superheros’ base is located on Treasure Island, I’m sure they will be more than happy to help you.†She provides dirrections and then considers and adds. “I wouldn’t suggest telling them I sent you.†As soon as the two of them are gone, she makes a quick phone call to her friends, “You know that big job we’ve been planning, this might be the perfect week to do it. It sounds like the Champions are going to have their hands full.†Sailor Io: “We’ll be happy to try to help you.†She contacts the rest of the Senshi and has them meet with Wormhole and the girl someplace away from any populated areas. The Senshi question Wormhole and the girl extensively, trying to find out as much as possible about the threat they are going to be facing. If the monster doesn’t show up during the conversation, Io requests that they find a place to stay reasonably close to a nearby high school and has a rotating watch of Senshi remain with them for the next day or so. (I’m sure some of her friends wouldn’t mind missing a day of school.) Once the monster arrives, the Senshi guarding them will use their communicator to contact the others and attempt to keep Wormhole and the girl away from the monster and everyone away from innocents until the rest of the Senshi can get there. Once the rest of the Senshi arrive, they will quickly move to shield Wormhole and the girl from the monster and attempt to negotiate. If negotiations fail and the monster attacks, Io and her teammates will work together to destroy it and end the threat. By combining their powers, Io and her teammate can create an incredibly powerful energy blast. Though, since they once accidentally caused damage roughly equivalent to a nuclear bomb by using it they’ve been a lot more careful about having all the Senshi combine their powers at once. (The combination of scared Senshi and a critical success can be a bad thing. ) Still, I feel reasonably certain that while one or two of the Senshi alone might not be able to stop the monster, if they work as a group, they probably can.
  3. Re: WWYCD #103 ? Deal with Evil Cannis: Her expression very tempted, “Could I please look over your documentation first and then have a couple of days discuss your offer with my employer and teammates?†If the documentation is provided and is super-biology, she studies it carefully. If not, she decides whether or not it would be safe and possible to try to steal the information, device, etc. No matter what, she’s not going to trust a stranger to modify her mind and DNA, but she will try to use any information she gathered to suplement her own skills as a biologist and geneticist. With luck, she might be able to use the information to enhance both herself and her teammates, though of course, not at anywhere near the level he was offering. Sailor Io: “I appreciate the offer, but one thing that our interactions with Vash taught my friends and myself is that wisdom and maturity are far more important than raw power. And while you might well be able to increase our abilities, only experience and the knowledge gained from it will increase our wisdom. So while I thank you for offering, I think it is best that we allow our abilities to develop naturally.†(Her response might be different if dealing with a friend/ally rather than an enemy. Though the belief that it is wisdom that she really needs, would remain the same.)
  4. Re: Character monologues ~The dream opens with Mina standing on the stage of the school auditorium. The spotlights are on her, though the sounds of an audience can be heard in the darkened room—soft whispers, the rustling of papers, people moving. She is dressed in her usual school uniform and is juggling three clear glass balls that appear to have some type of images within them. The background behind her shows a stylized image of Tokyo with the primary focus being on the school and areas Mina is familiar with. A dry-ice type fog is gradually covering the floor of the stage. As the camera moves closer, the images in the glass globes become more clear, one contains an image of text books, one a picture of Mina’s family, and one a picture of an elaborate looking machine. Mina is juggling them all easily. Then from somewhere in the shadows to the side of the stage, another glass ball, this one light green and containing an image of Jade is tossed to Mina. She catches it and continues juggling. A second, smoky gray with a streak of lightening follows shortly thereafter. She continues to juggle them readily. After a moment, a rainbow colored series of glass balls each containing an image of one of her friends are tossed from the shadows—Mitzy, Regin, Jiro, Seb, Demi, Taro, Hotaru, Usagi, Zane, Tonya, Lynn, Ken. Mina struggles to keep all the balls in the air and intact but the globe containing Demi’s image slips and crashes to the ground shattering into glittering shards of glass. Another ball is tossed from the side, blood red and containing the image of Anubis. It crashes into Hotaru’s globe fracturing it, but Mina is able to keep the globe containing Hotaru from falling as the Anubis globe hits the stage and shatters as well, the blood red glass mixing with Demi’s black. Though Mina struggles to keep the balls in the air, another one—Jiro’s—drops, but while cracks mar its surface, it remains intact as it rolls from the stage followed almost immediately after by Tonya’s. The other balls continue to flash through the air in an elaborate pattern as Mina gradually finds a rhythm yet again—a rainbow of glowing colors and images. She seems to relax slightly, only to be distracted by another globe hurtling towards her from the sidelines. Globes crash against each other, cracking, as yet another, this time Regin’s, falls and rolls from the stage. Barely, just barely, Mina manages to catch the incoming globe—this one containing the image of Vash flanked by Shalia and Lilith—and incorporate it into the now wavering pattern. All of the balls are showing signs of damage now—chips, cracks, some of the colors are growing a bit darker and more cloudy. Mina attempts to regain her rhythm but the pattern is slowly destabilizing. The ball containing Vash’s image seems to have a mind of its own, twisting and turning in unexpected directions. Other globes bump against each other deflecting them from their planned course. The ball containing Ken’s image drops and vanishes into the fog that continues to cover the stage making it impossible to tell if it remained intact or not. Mina manages to gain control momentarily but yet another ball—Lynn’s—drops and disappears into the fog. The pattern is chaotic now, Mina’s focus on trying to keep all of the balls from falling rather than on trying to keep any order. But even that isn’t working as she just barely manages to catch the various balls and throw them upwards again and again. Strain and exhaustion are becoming more and more pronounced on her face as she struggles. The fog has completely covered the floor of the stage now obscuring the shards of glass at her feet. Suddenly, one of the balls seems to twist in her hands and she losses her footing as she tries to reach for it. She slips and begins to fall as all of the glass balls begin to plummet to the floor around her with the sounds of shattering glass.~ Mina tosses and turns in the bed, pulling the covers loose as she murmurs “no.â€
  5. Re: Character monologues Its not a monolog exactly, but I do have two dreams that I wrote for Sailor Io. Dreams are another good way to get into a character's head. Both of the following dreams occurred at approximately the same time. Io was having to make some very hard decisions, had lost a few team mates, and was basically having a difficult time. These things are reflected in the dreams. ~The dream opens with Mina sitting in a library at a large table covered with stacks of large leather bound hardcover history and mythology books. She turns to the shelves behind her and pulls out a huge and dusty leather book with the words “History of the Moon Kingdom†written on the cover in large tarnished gilt letters. She struggles with its weight slightly as she turns and places it on the table in front of her and then opens the book. The ornately written text inside is in an odd language which can not be clearly read and there is an elaborate picture on the other page which is the same as in the sphinx’s vision. The images begin to move and speak. You are standing in a grand courtyard surrounded on all sides by white marble columns and pastel rose bushes. The air smells of fresh baked bread and of jasmine. Light music fills the air as you stand upon polished gray marble flecked with veins of gold. Several people stand around an open double door. A beautiful woman steps through the doorway and they back away to let her pass. Her long raven hair hangs to her waist and a garland of flowers frame her delicate face. She smiles at the group gathered there. Their faces are the mirror images of the scouts and knights, only older, and somehow infinitely wiser. A man enters. He is large of build but not overpoweringly so. He seems wise but weathered as he enters the courtyard. As he does, everyone drops to one knee in reverence - except the Queen, who bows her head to him. He gestures for them all to stand and his clear voice rings out across the courtyard. "It is good you have all been able to survive this latest threat. I know the battles have been long and arduous. And the people of the Kingdom of Earth thank you." His face grows serious as he continues. "But, the battle is far from over. Nemesis and his Mah-Ki are regrouping. I can see only one outcome of this battle - this final battle. It will end only with our destruction or his." The Queen takes her place beside the man who takes her hand in his. "My gentle wife has found a way to end this without so much blood shed. She believes that by combining our Golden crystal, with your Silver crystal, and with your Platinum crystal, along with the aid of our Outer allies, we can combine our powers to entrap Nemesis and his minions on a planet near here." The Queen nods. "Yes, this is not the outcome we had wished. As you know all attempts at a peaceful agreement met with disastrous consequences and unwelcome bloodshed. We believe at least this way, neither Nemesis nor his followers are killed but rather exiled from further harming the people of Earth. The assembled group remains silent for a few minutes before one of them speaks. "You are right, this is the only way. We will stand behind you - fail or triumph - and try our best." Both the King and Queen smile.~ Mina murmurs something in her sleep and tosses and turns a bit. ~A sheet of flame obscures the images for a moment and when it fades, the focus of the dream has shifted. The viewer seems to be floating over the action, looking down upon it. The scene is one of battle and blood and flame. Images flicker past at a dizzying pace. Groups of men on horseback and carrying swords face off against Mah-Ki. But as you look closer it is clear that at least some of the Mah-ki are trying to run or to protect the wives and children cowering behind them. Other Mah-ki scream out in agony as they are burned at stakes. The images are of carnage, humans and Mah-ki both fighting, bleeding, dying. A group of scouts and knights appear surrounded by a burning aura looking like avenging angels. Some of the Mah-ki look towards them with hope in their eyes which dies as the Scouts and Knights stand beside they humans, throwing blast upon blast at the fighting Mah-ki. More and more fighters drop, human, Senshi, Mah-ki~ Mina murmurs “no†and her tossing and turning becomes a bit more violent. ~The images are obscured by flame and blood as once again the scene shifts. The King and Queen stand together alone on the field. Ten bodies lay crumpled at their feet, while the Queen cradles the eleventh. "My son," she cries. "No. Please, stay with us." Nearby a booming voice is heard from a rolling black cloud. The cloud, with a life of its own swirls together and forms a face that pushes from its inky blackness. "Your kingdom is doomed. Your Knights and Senate are all dead, your son is dying. You have nothing left and no one to help you. Your deaths will be quick but painful, I assure you." The King steps before his wife. "No!" he shouts as he holds up a familiar sword, its Golden Crystal shining brightly. "We will not allow you to win." The Queen sets her son down gently and stands beside her husband. She holds up a staff, crowned by a disembodied floating Silver Crystal. The power from the two combined crystals drives back the black cloud but it soon becomes apparent even the massive power from both crystals is not enough to keep Nemesis at bay. He counterattacks and both King and Queen fall to their knees. Suddenly a beam of light - of platinum light - shines out and joins the battle. This time Nemesis screams in pain and seems to shatter into glass. The fragments are swept into a black hole that forms in the sky that also sweeps up his screaming minions. In moments the air is clear, but the damage remains. The image shifts momentarily to show the Mah-ki and their families landing upon a dead moon drained of energy and nearly dead gazing up at the now closed portal.~ Mina’s tossing becomes even more violet as she pulls the sheets lose from her bed continuing to murmur “no.†~The sheet of flame obscures the scene once again and now Sailor Io and the other Senshi are standing in a courtroom, a judges podium towering over them. Written on a bronze plaque before them is “Judge not lest ye be Judged.†The sound of a gavel banging down can be heard along with a booming and deep voice saying “Guilty.†A portal opens and the scouts and knights are forced towards it at sword point by figures whose features are obscured by shadow. Somehow everyone’s family members are there too, and are being forced into the portal as well. As the Senshi look through the portal they can see that it leads to the Negaverse realm. The scouts and knights attempt to fight their way free, to protect their families, but are quickly overwhelmed. A sword slices into Bladestar and he cries out in agony. Blood red energy strikes out at Io, but Norio shoves her aside and takes the blast himself, falling to the ground in lifelessly.~ Mina awakens with a scream.
  6. Re: Tank chargen: low-strength, high-soak Not necessarily. Think about Spiderman or Buffy (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Both of them tend to taunt their opponents and I wouldn't classify either of them as jerks. And of course, there is no rule against taking more than the maximum number of disadvantages. You just don't get extra points for them.
  7. Re: Tank chargen: low-strength, high-soak I do see one way to insure that attackers pay attention to this type of character even if he is low on offensive capability or movement. Annoy them so much that they want to hit you just to shut you up. 16 Taunts: Mind Control (8d6) (40 active points); Set Effect (“Attack Meâ€; -1); Limited Range (range of hearing; -1/4), Requires a Persuasion Roll (at -2; -1/4).
  8. A few aspects of the “Classes of Minds†for Mental powers have been bothering me for quite a while now. And since I have some free time, I thought I’d post and ask if someone could explain the logic behind this for me. Aspect 1: The following two powers (taken from the Until Superpowers Database) cost the same number of points. Control Plants: Mind Control 10d6 (Plant Class of Minds) Total Cost 50 points. (The character can mentally control intelligent plants and plantlike beings) Mental Control: Mind Control 10d6 (Human Class of Minds) Total Cost 50 points. (The character can mentally control humans) However, at least in every game I’ve ever played they are incredibly far from being equally valuable. I’ve never seen an intelligent plant in any game I’ve played and can only think of one or two I’ve ever even seen mentioned. The discrepancy isn’t as great for the animal, technology, and alien class minds. However, I’m playing a character that can just affect animal class minds, and even with a very good GM, I’ve still seen a lot more situations where being able to control human minds would be far more useful than my ability to control animals. To be honest, at times, (even though it is totally out of concept), I’m tempted to buy the ability to affect humans mind class on my powers just because it would far more than double the powers usefulness. Aspect 2: Being an individual that belongs to one of the rarer classes of minds provides quite a bit of protection for no point cost. At one point, our group had three humans, one alien, one ghost, and four dogs (followers). In order for the GM to create a mentalist that could affect the entire group she’d have had to create one that could affect Human, Animal, Alien, and Undead mind classes. Useful for the group I suppose. Still, considering how few mentalists I’ve seen with the Undead Mind Class (one total), it does seem a bit unfair that one player would be safe from a 15d6 mental attack from practically every mentalist we’d come across. Maybe I’m missing something. But something just seems really out of whack here. I guess there must have been some significant flaw with the old way of doing it. (Having "only effects a certain type of being" as a limitation). But it seems like there should be a more fair way of doing it. Possibly something along the lines of what they did with invisibility and flash where some groups cost more than others.
  9. Re: Tank chargen: low-strength, high-soak In case it would be helpful, here is a tiny bit about the campaign world: The players are a group of anti-villains (no problem with breaking laws, don’t kill innocents, reasonably polite, have an overall objective that they believe is good) in a Bronze Age type setting. The game is low lethality though there are some individuals, both PC and NPC that use killing attacks. The other PCs include a high agility cat-burglar with animal control powers, a ninja, a supergirl clone, a rock elemental type brick, and an ice energy projector that appears occasionally. Our primary opponents (the super heroes) are a classic speedster, a teleporting martial artist, a cybernetic or power armor type brick, and a gadgeteer. The game is fairly low combat. We are as likely to spend a month working on framing a politician as we are to be out on the street picking fights with heroes. Though of course there are some fights as well. Though if we are losing, we are going to try to escape rather than keep fighting til we get captured. Personally, I do agree that it might not be a bad idea for you to either pick up a little more offensive capability or a bit more movement (so you can reach one of the nonbricks in the group and cover him/her if need be). Ah, and work on your taunts. After all, we want them shooting at you rather than us. ::Teasing grin::
  10. Re: Tank chargen: low-strength, high-soak As a fellow player in this game, I can state with assurance that the GM would not turn an ugly shaded of NFW. I'm not positive she'd say yes, but in general she's not had a problem with putting armor in an Elemental Control.
  11. Re: What would your character do? #71 I am glad you are enjoying reading them. I've been having fun writing them. It's a really good way to get a better feel for the characters. Just out of curiousity, what are your tastes in games/characters?
  12. Re: What would your character do #~75 Thanks. We all enjoyed it enough that it lasted for over three years and will probably restart again someday. Its just on hold for a while so we could do something a bit different (WoD and Champions Villians).
  13. Re: What would your character do #~75 Cannis: ~Hmm…this could be useful.~ She lets her team mates know and then attempts to gather as much information as possible, especially the terms of the agreement. At the very least she’ll sneak into his home and office to take a look around and get any evidence she can. If his promise to the dark power just affects him (his own soul), or certain minor sacrifices that don’t directly effect her, she turns the information over to Adam for blackmail purposes. Her actions will be different if on the other hand, his promise is going to cause her major problems later (perform a ritual to summon hoards of demons to earth in one year, kill all mutants), or if the promise is so heinous that it badly disturbs her (torture of children). In those cases, unless Adam specifically orders her not to, she’ll work with Konochi and the rest of her teammates to kill him quickly and quietly. Actually, just because she is best at it), Kono will probably make the kill while the rest of them distract the guards, ensure the any police and heroes are busy elsewhere, etc. But Cannis would have no objection to killing the Head of State herself if need be. Sailor Io: Though she would be angry that someone had deliberately tainted themselves just to gain political power, she wouldn’t go after the head of state directly. Rather she and the scout would set about breaking the deal from the other end. Specifically by destroying the demon he made the pact with. Senshi fight demons and supernatural beings, not humans. Nevertheless, if Io could find evidence of the Head of State’s corruption, she would carefully edit it to remove anything that proved that supernatural beings did exist and then send copies of it anonymously to the proper authorities. She would include a note stating, “I managed to discover some frightening facts about Head of State. Apparently he believes that demons are real and that he has sold his soul to one. He has been (insert examples of his corruption here) in an attempt to gain power from this so called demon. I am providing you with all of the information I found.â€
  14. Re: What would your character do #74 (or so):Gift of Power? Cannis: Looks over the amulet with curiosity, feeling very tempted to try using it on herself and see if it would increase her own power. After a moment’s thought she instead smiles and puts it securely in one of her belt pouches. Later that evening she puts it in a box and wraps it in colorful paper and sets it on the shelf in her closet. When Adam’s birthday or Christmas rolls around, her expression is very satisfied. ~What do you give the man who has everything. An amulet from the gods.~ (Since he is far more powerful than her, he wouldn’t need it for himself, but he could provide it to someone he felt was worthy of it.) Sailor Io: ~Yet another myth proven true. I wonder who we’ll end up meeting next.~ She heads back to her dorm room and calls a Senshi meeting. First, she would ask Magnus (the team’s mage) to take a look at it and see if it would do what Zeus said it would and that its isn’t some sort of magical trap. Then she would have a discussion with all the Senshi and animal companions trying to determine who they should give the amulet too. In response to Sailor Moon’s insistence that the amulet be given to Darien, she would attempt to explain “Just so that your boyfriend can be a knight isn’t enough of a reason.†Already prepared for Moon’s reaction, Io subtly hands out ear plugs to the rest of the Senshi until the screaming wail and fountain of tears has died down to a more tolerable level. After spending 30 minutes handling the temper tantrum, Io once again tries to get the conversation back on track. Ultimately the group will probably decide to store the amulet somewhere safe until they can find the right person to give it to.
  15. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #73 Cannis: For simplicity sake we’ll assume that she and her packmates got involved because Grond’s attack on downtown was threatening one of Adam’s business, since as villains, the team probably wouldn’t have gotten involved otherwise. Cannis snarls softly in irritation but runs for the team vehicle along with the rest of her packmates, assuming she’ll find out what’s going on soon enough. Sailor Io: She and her boyfriend Bladestar are the team gadgeteers, so she probably figures out what Gear Freak is up to a few seconds after Bladestar does. ~He’s going to make an army of Sailor Valis robots?!?! Oh, he’s just going to destroy the world…that’s a bit better.~ They, along with the rest of their teammates, head off in search of Gear Freak and explain what the problem is on the way.
  16. Re: What would your character do? #71 Cannis knows that time travel is possible, after all her employer Adam traveled from the far future back to her time. However, she also knows that the time machine didn’t work right the first time, that it is broken, and that the person that created the first one is in no position to repair it. So she won’t be anticipating a rescue any time soon. While she doesn’t have the survival skill, her knowledge in biology, her animal empathy powers, and her enhanced physical capabilities should enable her to manage to survive in reasonable comfort until she develops the necessary survival skills. Initially, she’d probably quickly bond with some of the native animals (preferably a wolf pack), and occasionally slip into nearby villages to steal needed items. Eventually, she’d probably end up taking on the role of Goddess of Animals and Healing for several of the local tribes. She would attempt to research a biological method to make it back to her time by either finding a way to make herself immortal or finding a way to put herself into some sort of suspended animation/hibernation. She might eventually marry one of the natives. She wouldn’t worry too much about changing the future. After all, she has no way of knowing what impact any of her actions will have. Who knows, maybe the future will be better off because of her. Sailor Io doesn’t have experience with time travel yet but will be positive that she is going to be rescued. Considering that her boyfriend Bladestar is an incredibly skilled gadgeter, her teammate Magnus is a potent mage, and that the rest of her teammates will be doing everything that they can to help, she’s probably right. Since she doesn’t have a lot of survival skills, Io will probably try to join a local tribe while she waits for the rescue and would end up raising the tribes technological level dramatically as she attempts to build her own time machine to get back home. (Sure, she knows her friends are coming to rescue her. But that doesn’t mean she can’t try to rescue herself first). While she will improve the tribe’s technology, she will not allow the tribe to discover her Senshi abilities unless there was no other way to save herself and the tribe from some sort of threat. Since the majority of her powers are only useful for combat (lightening blasts, freezing entangles, concealing fogs, etc.) she would be afraid the tribe would try to push her to use them to conquer their neighbors. However, she probably would use her weather control abilities subtly at times to bring a needed rain and such. Also, Io would spend a lot of time staring up at the moon and wondering if the Moonite Kingdom has been established yet, and wishing there was some way she could go there and talk with them. She would listen for rumors of other Moonites (Gods, Demons, Creatures of Legend etc) and if one was nearby would probably try to go and meet him or her. Even if for whatever reason rescue didn’t come and she couldn’t find a way to get back, she wouldn’t marry one of the natives. She truly loves Bladestar far to much to be happy with anyone but him.
  17. Re: What would your character do #83 ? Cannis: If the convict is not a mutant, she checks with Adam just to make sure that there isn’t any reason why he wants the human saved. She’s about 90% certain that he won’t care, but its best to make sure that he doesn’t think the human will be useful later. When Adam confirms that it makes no difference to him if the human is killed or not, she nods and heads out of his office. Since it is just a human and not anyone she knows or cares about, she doesn’t bother planning a prison break, but she probably will give Trish Tilby (local reporter) a call to let her know about the possible story. Not for the prisoner’s sake, but rather because Cannis rather likes Trish and has been wanting to tip her off to a cool lead for a while now. If the convict is a mutant, Cannis checks with Adam to see if he wants the prisoner rescued, fairly certain that he will say yes. (Whether or not the prisoner has truly reformed matters much less than the fact that he is a fellow mutant.) She works with the rest of her teammates to plan a rather flashy prison break right at the last moment. If the reporters show up before the heroes do, Cannis lingers just long enough to give Trish Tilby the evidence the prisoner was innocent or reformed and then smiles for the camera as she disappears into the night with a few gymnastic movements. Sailor Io: If the prisoner is an innocent human, the senshi would not get involved in their Hero IDs. It is not their duty to interfere in human affairs but rather to deal with supernatural issues that are far beyond the capability of human justice to handle (man that sounds pretentious doesn’t it). However, as Mina, she probably would write letters to the editor of both her high school and local newspaper and possibly a letter to the Governor telling him about the evidence and asking him to review it. If the prisoner is a Senshi, Moonite, Fae, etc. that makes things a bit more challenging. Io is going to wonder why the individual hasn’t used his powers to escape yet. She’ll probably try to go talk to him. Since, she still looks fairly normal in her Superhero ID, she might be able to get in to the prison under an assumed name. After the conversation, she’s still going to be a torn on what to do, so she’ll call a team meeting and discuss it with all of her fellow Senshi. As always, the decision will ultimately come down to her. Probably, if the prisoner manages to convince her that he is innocent, the senshi will try to find a way to sneak him out of jail if it can be done without drawing too much attention. (Io’s weather control will come in very handy here. Fog banks, rain storms, and such make for good concealment). If the prisoner is just redeemed, she would feel badly for him, and probably angst about it a bit. But in the end, she would most likely allow justice to be done. After all, she is fairly certain that he will be reincarnated to live again.
  18. Re: Wwycd? #84 Cannis: Smiles and chuckles to herself. She pauses long enough to make sure that the pedestrian did get out of the way safely and then heads to a jewelry store or a personal electronics store a few blocks away. ~No better time to pick up a few trinkets then when the cops and heroes are busy chasing a nice visible distraction.~ Sailor Io: ~And I used to think that Jiro was crazy when he told us about the talking frog.~ She uses her "Io Arctic Freeze" to stop the car and then heads quickly over to have talk with the Bunnies, taking just a second to have the wind whip through her hair dramatically. "Do you realize that you are putting the ENTIRE Mah-ki and Fae communities at risk with your actions. Not only are you drawing attention to yourselves and thus them but you are doing it by committing crimes. And," She indicates the ears, etc. "its not like you can pass as human." Her voice raise a bit and lightening flashes in her eyes. "You know how important secrecy is. Do you really want to be the cause of the second Human/Mah-ki war?!?!" She lets them go after the lecture but gets in touch with either the Fae King or Lilith and Schalia of the Mah-ki to let them know what is going on. (Part of the anger is just for dramatic effect, but having a Mah-ki or Fae captured by the police would be a bad thing in Io’s world.)
  19. Re: WWYCD #86 (I think) Cannis: Is definitely talking with Adam before doing anything, this is the kind of issue where not asking first could lead to him being angry with her and she hates having him angry with her. Cannis would prefer not to kill, especially if the six are innocent victims. Most likely, Cannis will be put to work tracking them down or trying to find a medical solution. If the team can't find a a way to solve the problem, her teammate Kono (the groups assassin) will be sent in to make the kills. Sailor Io: Calls a team meeting as soon as possible. The group brainstorms and tries to come up with any technical or mystical way they can think of to remove the seeds from the people. With the combined abilities of the group, odds are very good that they will find a way to remove the seeds and fight the possessing demons without killing the innocents. Though, if we had no choice but to kill the six to save the world, I think we would. However, there would be a lot of guilt, a lot of crying, and a lot of regrets and Io would be furious with herself for not having been able to find a better way.
  20. Re: Wwycd? #87 Cannis: Stares at the probable stalker, "I should have known posing for that Supervillaness calendar would lead to problems. Who are you and how did you find out so much about me?" She pauses for a moment, her eyes gleaming just a bit, "More importantly, exactly what is it you want?" His responses to her questions determine what happens next. But no matter what, Adam and her packmates will be told about the incident, in detail. Sailor Io: If she is in her secret ID, Mina denies everything. "You think I'm one of the Sailor Senshi?" She gives him a confused smile, "That's flattering I guess. But I'm just a high school student. Besides, everyone knows the Scouts are just urban legends." If he approaches her in Senshi form, she looks just a bit startled. "How do you know all of that?" Once again his response and what he has to way will determine her actions. Her team mates will be told about the incident though.
  21. Re: What would your character do #88 Cannis: This would depend on whether the Team Leader in this case was Adam or Anteaus. Adam is the group's employer and mentor. While a powerful mutant in his own right he doesn't usually join the team in battle. Anteaus is the field leader. If Adam, Cannis would be hurt and rather disturbed since they have developed a romantic relationship. She would, once he awakened, talk to him about the issue. She wouldn't tell anyone if he asked her not to and would most likely remain with the team. There might be a few trust issues for a while, but he's been a good employer, a good friend, his cause makes sense to her and he pays very well. Nevertheless its fair to say that the romance is not going to continue. If Anteaus, she would be surprised and a little hurt that he'd keep it a secret from the pack. She would, after seeing to it that he was placed somewhere safe and after a little internal debate, notify Adam about what she had discovered and then do as he requested. Most likely, she would end up letting Anteaus know she knows the truth, and agreeing to keep his age secret from the world at large. Though she is going to insist that he tell Orb (the teammate he is dating) the truth. In the long run, it won't hurt the friendship all that badly. Sailor Io: Is the team leader. There really isn't a second in command per se, but her reaction would be the same no matter which of her fellow scouts or knights it was. Since all of us are in high school, the "child" would probably be elementary school or middle school age. Io will be very hurt that after everything the team has been through the senshi in question hasn't trusted the group enough to willingly tell them the truth. She will keep the secret until the teammate awakens and then they are going to have a long talk. She will strongly encourage the individual to share the truth with the entire team (and with their boyfriend/girlfriend if they have one). Ultimately, she will respect the person's wishes and keep their secret if that is what they insist on. She will still treat the person as a valued team member and they will still stay friends.
  22. Re: What Would Your Character #72 (or so) Cannis would be positive that the hero had mistaken her for someone else. After all, she’s far from cosmic level and she’s not a hero nor are any of her teammates. On the other hand, at least one member of the city’s hero team has been making a few efforts to redeem her, since he’s pretty sure she’s not “eeeevil.†So its not entirely beyond the realm of possibility that he might try to recruit her. As for the “not trustworthy†part, she knows her team very well. She probably would have a good idea about who he was suspecting. Either Southern Belle, who we all ready know is a spy for a conquering alien race, or Kono who is an assassin. Though most of the other members of the group have untrustworthy parts as well. We are villains after all. The fact of the matter is that Cannis doesn’t mind any of the untrustworthy parts. She is completely loyal to her pack and the only way she’d stop being loyal to a member is if said person betrayed the pack itself. She’d never cut off all contact with her teammates, especially not to join a group of heroes. At this stage in her life, I can’t even see her joining a band of heroes unless Wheeler did a –lot- more redeeming. Sailor Io would be very surprised to discover that there was a more powerful team of Moonites already in existence and would try very hard to get as much information from them as she could. However she would not be willing to leave her own team to do so. The ties between Io and her teammates are forged steel. Though they’ve only known each other for a year or so, they’ve been through so much together that they are closer than family. Once again, she would have fairly good guesses about who the “untrustworthy†member was. After all her boyfriend was their enemy for quite a while and still fears that he might turn evil again someday. And two other members were tricked into committing murder. But she also knows the full story behind each of these events and trusts all of her team mates with her life. She would speak with the Cosmic heroes politely and try to convince them that they are wrong about her friends and would attempt to get both groups together for a nice long talk. If that failed, she’d support her friends absolutely. A fight against one of the Scouts/Knights is a fight against all of us. Hmm…though she might feel forced to make one exception. Oden did murder an ally and while he was manipulated into it, he freely admits he did it of his own free will. If King Oberon demanded he stand trial for what he did, she’d allow it. Though I don’t think she could stand by and see him put to death for it. That would be a hard one for her, and something that I have a feeling the GM will make her and the rest of the team face someday.
  23. Re: What would your character do? #70 Cannis is startled. Though she probably would assume that he was some sort of spirit rather than a demon. After all, she knows one vengeance spirit already. So it would makes sense if there were fire spirits too. Unless Devilfire had badly injured or killed one of her packmates or one of her dog companions, she probably would pause long enough to do some emergency first aid on Greg and if she has access to a phone, call an ambulance. She does not go after the Demon unless she has a good reason to do so. (Innocents being threatened is not a good enough reason). She might remain long enough to watch the city’s heroes fight it. After all, she might gain some useful information and it might give her a chance to pay back one of those favors she owes. Or maybe get one of the heroes owing her a favor—which could come in handy someday. Sailor Io is used to innocent people being possessed by evil spirits. She’d probably feel furious with herself about losing the Healing Moon Wand when she was captured by Vash. But wouldn’t let the feeling of guilt delay her for more than a moment. She’d have Sailor Saturn heal the fallen human while Io and the rest of the scouts went after the demon. Once the Demon was defeated, she and the others would go back to their rooms to plan. They would be expecting to see more possessed people showing up. Io would begin packing her gloop gun (entangle) again. And would work with the team mystic to see if they could either find a technological or magical or both way to return the victims to normal without having to seriously injure them.
  24. Re: What Would Your Character Do? #69 Cannis would thoroughly search the office trying to find any files on -how- they created the group of supers. After the search, she’d take all of the information back to Adam and the rest of her packmates, certain they will be well pleased with her find. Most likely the group would study all of the information and then see about getting to know the most useful or compatible seeming of the teens. If at all possible, Cannis would attempt to get DNA samples from as many of the teens as she could without drawing to much attention. If Cannis’s research determines that the teens are not mutants but just got their abilities through the project, they probably would not be invited to join the team. Though, they might make suitable allies (or tools). However, if Cannis discovered that the teens were mutants and their gene was just activated by the Vipers project, the group might well see about recruiting some of the promising young villains. Sailor Io isn’t from a typical Champions world. She’s from a grey and realistic Sailor Moon type game. (Would take far to much explaining here to clarify much further than that). Since every time Io’s seen a human meddled with by an outside group it has lead to serious problems, she would be understandably worried. She’d take all of the files back to her friends and not turn any of them over to the police. (As far as Io’s world is concerned, superpowers don’t exist and the Sailor Scouts are just an urban legend. Io’s group is used to handling everything by themselves.) Io’s first order of business would be to pull several all-nighters creating a reversal ray to return the teenagers back to normal. Meanwhile, the rest of her teammates would probably be keeping an eye on the teens and acting to stop any violent crimes that they might commit. (This time someone will be specifically designated to keep a close eye on Sailor Moon and make sure that she doesn’t get confused.). Once the ray is finished, it will be used on all of the villains. Io will speak with each of the heroes and offer to let them have their normal lives back and warn them about the dangers that being a hero poses. If they agree, she will return them to normal. If not, she will offer to let them join the Scouts if they want. Either way she’ll let the heroes keep their powers if that is what they want. But, she will keep the ray handy just in case she needs it later.
  25. Re: A contriversial "Would your character...?" Cannis is basically a jewel thief and an anti-villain (i.e. nicer than your average villain but definitely not a hero). She is a member of a group with beliefs similar to the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. She would not agree to have someone’s child to save a million people that she doesn’t even know. Though, if it were her packmates that were being threatened, or if Adam (her boss and alpha) asked her to do so and explained why it was important, she would go through with it. Really, it wouldn’t be the sex per se that would be the problem. Though having sex in front of an audience isn’t something she’d particularly care for. The main issue would be having and raising a child sired by someone she didn’t want to have as a mate. There is one other mitigating factor though. Currently she feels as if she owes two large favors to the local hero group. IF they thought to call one of the favors in, she probably would either agree to sleep with him, or to help them stop him. Sailor Io is underage but has actually already had to consider a situation very similar to this. She and a couple of her friends were captured by a mega-villain. To keep her friends safe she had to promise not to attempt to escape, not to attempt to harm him or his followers, and to do whatever he wanted. Fortunately, he was basically a nice guy and didn’t want her to do anything that would make her uncomfortable. (Though he took a great deal of delight in implying to her friends that he was.). However, she would have slept with him to keep her friends safe if that was what it took. In this case, she wouldn’t want to do it. And she and her friends would try very very hard to find a way to stop him without her having to go through with it. But if there was no other choice, she would volunteer to do so. Sort of doubt her friends would let her go through with it. And someone would have to be sure to restrain her boyfriend. He wouldn’t react well to this at all, and would probably get himself killed trying to stop it. Though he probably would have succeeded in doing a good bit of damage to the megavillain in the attempt. Bladestar is scary when he’s mad.
