  1. Re: Super Friends This game will be for my kids, so there won't be an emphasis on fighting so much as ingenuity, much like the cartoons. I may just be using the main Super Friends: Superman, Batman & Robin, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman, plus the Wonder Twins since they like Gleek.
  2. Re: Heroes for pay Teachers, police, and firefighters are among the best paid professionals out there. This myth that they are underpaid is always trotted out along with the myth that they are inherently heroic occupations.
  3. Re: Super Friends I see, it's Kid Flashwith new powers. I hadn't realized Barry Allen wasn't the Flash anymore. Thanks for the tips.
  4. Re: Super Friends Thanks for the links. I'm not great at building preexisting characters, but shouldn't the Flash have 12 Speed given that he is the Fastest Man Alive and should be able to act every segment? Speed of 6 barely puts him even with half the martial artists I see in Champions. Is there something I'm not understanding in that write-up? I haven't read comics in about 25 years so is this a new ability or a different Flash than I know?: "Superspeed Recovery: Healing BODY 1d6+1 (standard effect: 4 points), [two powers] simultaneously (+1/2), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Decreased Re-use Duration (1 Turn; +1 1/2) (45 Active Points); Extra Time (1 Turn (Post-Segment 12), -1 1/4), Self Only (-1/2), Limited Power Affected by Adjustment powers as an EC (-1/4)"
  5. Re: How big should a Golden Age superteam be? Well, in the source material most characters never had any growth but rather stayed the same. Characters once in a while would suddenly have a power they never displayed before, but they often never displayed it again after it was used in 1 story. So maybe they should get no experience but a Joker from a deck of cards to play whenever they suddenly need to do something like that. Golden Age superhero teams would either have each hero have a separate adventure and then report back to the team, or else they would split into small teams of 2-3 and tackle the X number of menaces and then report back to the team. I can't recall any where the whole team went into action as a unit. I have all the Golden Age DC Archives and Marvel Masterworks that have been released to date so I'm pretty sure that's correct.
  6. Re: What do you think of supervillain teams? Short-term alliances make sense but since most villains are out only for themselves and can't be trusted, it's unlikely they would stick together for long. Someone would screw the others over to get ahead. Because they're evil.
  7. Re: Heroes for pay It all depends on how they are played and how the GM sets up the scenarios. After all, Luke "Power Man" Cage and Iron Fist were "Heroes for Hire." They were very heroic. If I recall, they would charge rich clients but were always helping everyone with a sob story for free. I know Luke Cage never wound up saying no to anyone in need that came to him.
  8. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Is that sarcasm?
  9. I'm going to try to run a game where the players are the Super Friends, anybody want to help me build these heroes and villains using only the abilities they demonstrated in the cartoons? Doesn't matter how many points they cost, as anyone playing a weak hero will likely take a second character to balance things (for example: Batman's player will also have Robin). Superman Batman plus -plane, -boat, and -mobile Robin Wonder Woman plus invisible jet Aquaman plus his Seadoo he always rides Green Lantern Flash Hawkman Black Vulcan Apache Chief Samurai Luthor Brainiac Bizarro Toyman Riddler Cheetah Giganta Black Manta Captain Cold Gorilla Grodd Scarecrow Sinestro Solomon Grundy Might try to build Hall of Justice and Legion of Doom HQ as well! (Also this might turn into an online game so let me know if that interests you as well. By the by, we're only using Champions 2nd edition, Champions II, and Champions III rules.)

  12. Re: How big should a Golden Age superteam be? The (historical comic book version) JSA also had Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Flash, so it was about 50-50 masked vigilantes and cosmic powerhouses. And Hawkman somewhere in the middle.
  13. Re: Back to Basics Designs That's because men were men back then. Superheroes today are all sissies who need gadgets and godlike powers. Wimps.
  14. Re: The Walker - a very low powered superhero Does he spout Bible verses in the midst of fights?
  15. Re: Superhero Team Members "Pretty much EVERY hero in the Marvel Universe has been a member of the Avengers at one point or another. Even Spider-Man and Wolverine have both been on the team's roster at some point." And to me that's part of why I have no interest in the Avengers...it used to be "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," then it became a handful of superstars and a bunch of nobodies like Gilgamesh, Sersi, Rage, Justice, Silverclaw, etc. Then confirmed non-team-players like Spider-Man are suddenly getting lessons in superheroing from Iron Man (who, by the way, has less experience (by far) than Spidey).
  16. Re: You can't take my Likeness Sounds more like this should be a roll made by the imitator/impostor. It would be hard to rationalize why anyone couldn't be impersonated. Odd idea.
  17. Re: Combat examples Try 2nd edition Champions, pages 72-75. Crusader and Starburst take on Ogre and a handful of thugs.
  18. Re: "I know a guy" You don't have to build anything, just consult with your GM and see if he's okay with it. It's basically a way to make your character able to do whatever you want at all times rather than work for it. If I were your GM, I'd shoot it down.
  19. Re: Welcoming Women Who Game It's posts like this that make my wife think this stuff is for the birds!
  20. Re: Rule of X ideas? Best rule ever: GM veto on anything he believes will ruin the fun of the game.
  21. Re: Hero In Two Pages - Complete Hey, that two-pager is great. I'll be handing that out to players who haven't used the system before so they understand the basics right off the bat.
  22. Anybody interested in Lucha Libre Hero?
  23. Re: Cougar (Sentry City) I see. Maybe you should just add something about adopting his mother's surname in the little biography you wrote.

    Ragdoll

Re: Ragdoll It sounds like you want a character who can do way too many things. Maybe you should start by focusing on a few things and then upgrade when you get experience points and your character learns new facets of his power/body.
  25. Re: Superhero Team Members "How's this any less arbitrary?" I never suggested it wasn't. I was just listing my favorites; she was creating a whole world with arbitrary segregation by publisher. Two different topics.
