  1. Re: Parasite/Rogue Effect please clarify. You cannot use a transform to transform yourself.
  2. Re: It's the End of the World as we Know it... [intro] Episode : The Gods must be crazy... [Purpose] Introduce the Greek Pantheon, Give the characters some XP, and have a good fight! [Location] Mount Olympus. [Plot] The characters wake the morning after defeating the dread sea monster in the police station's lock-up where they have found refuge. Cast of Characters: Eric Chambers - Comic Book Artist [Pyre Archer] Nathan Oliver - Military Scientist [Amebushi] Leonid Roland - Paramedic, Scout Leader [QuestionMan] Jack Staecker - The Gods must be Crazy The characters wake and decide to collect their things from both sides of the water and make their way onward toward the boat that Jarrod had said was there. They see a stag standing in the street. This is the first living creature they have seen on the planet besides humanoids. It walks slowly to them and stops in front of them. As they look at it Jack realizes that mythologically speaking the stag accompanies Artemis the huntress. And so it does in the game as well - she walks out from the shadows asking if they are the creatures who killed the sea monster, the giant, and Medusa. Of course they are, so Artemis, by means of an arrow shot directly into the sky, signals a pick up... A chariot appears ridden by a perfect man with a large beard and long hair - Zeus. The characters are taken to Olympus where they meet Aphrodite, Ares, and Hermes on his way out. Nathan and Eric were awed by Aphrodite while Leo did his best to not look at her and Jack simply knew better. They were taken to Zeus' chamber where court is held and here they learned that The Oracle of Delphi was there at Olympus, and that the person who was captured by Stonehenge was actually Apollo. The biggest problem with that is that Olympians lose power the longer they are away from Greece, and in the 5 days since he was captured, Apollo will now be too weak to fight his way out of Stonehenge's clutches. They were asked about their adventures since they landed in Greece. As they recounted images of their exploits appear above them and the world around the temple goes hazy. [At this point I allowed them to spend the 15xp they had been saving] As they finish, Aphrodite speaks up "I will have them as my champions." And Ares retorts "then I will challenge them first." With a wave of Zeus' hand, and a teleport into the arena, battle ensues! The characters did amazingly well against the god of war, Eric actually blocked Ares' first strike! The combined might of Pegasus and Leo [not to mention buying Teamwork with the 15pts] finally took Ares down to exactly 0 Stun in phase 12 of the first turn! Zeus stops the fight as Ares falls unconsious and they are all transported back to the temple where he rewards each character with a new ability! Celebration is called for and the characters eat, drink and feel merry. Eric thinks to look around for the Oracle, who is there. She rewards him with some glimmer of knowledge, and points to Jarrod who is also there [somehow!]. The characters talk to Jarrod and then hit the sack. The Good: Heckuva fight with Ares! The group did exceedingly well and managed to keep the fight short. Ken's natural 3 on his PS:Scientist roll as he looked to see what Zeus had given him [he wasn't there, I made the roll for him!] - This meteor is not natural, it isn't any type of rock I could be familiar with... lmao Lots of humourous moments, including Zeus waving his hand and my telephone ringing at the same time The Bad: Took us a bit to get back into character and no one had their old character sheets with them which had all of their equipment listed - not that big of a deal really. The Ugly: I was late due to not knowing if I could take a certain bus or not. Overall: Pretty good. We weren't as 'into it' as previous sessions, but overall fun. 3 points all around.
  3. Re: Modeling An anti-magic Barrier A thought sprung to mind - no time to flesh it out, perhaps someone else may feel the need... Missile Deflection. Problems would include: casting other spells while it's on, increasing power with more casters, how to make it ablative.. You'd have to say 'only against magic attacks' and make all magic attacks 'can be missile deflected' Just a thought.
  4. Re: The Genesis of +5 = 2x power? I especially liked that things such as that were possible. The probability is still very low that it could happen however. Like Rolemaster there was a possibility that you could one punch Sauron. Highly unlikely mid you, but possible. That momentary Heroic 'everything in the universe aligns for this one strike' kind of ideal. I like it. I like the flavour of it.
  5. Re: Suppress Nastiness.... What hurt was the concept that entropy would be it's own downfall. Therefore entropy would have to break down and eventually allow order to rebuild being that it makes everything weaker, even itself... equilibrium must be reached eventually, somehow, no? So then if it is affecting and being affected in equal parts, it really doesn't even exist.
  6. Re: Suppress Nastiness.... Well technically the power would suppress any other power, including itself [assuming you didn't take personal immunity or Selective] so it is it's own destruction. I think my brain just started hurting.
  7. Re: Suppress Nastiness.... I should clarify that this power is on a 750pt 'God' NPC whilst the players are 250pts with no power defense. Which makes it horribly effective. Strange how some people think it horribly effective and others think it not so much. I guess it is right in line with other 100 Active Point powers, though I thought it especially nasty due to the suppressing everything on the character sheet at once. It will even suppress Power Def, though it will have to overcome it first. But if some gets through, the next hit will affect more and should take more through... Assuming you've got the END to make it worthwhile of course.
  8. Or any other Adjustment power for that matter... p111/112 5ER So for a +2 Advantage you can affect "All powers of a given Effect" and for an additional +2 Advantage you can affect "All SFX Simultaneously" - now granted, that's going to cost you, but wow, talk about an instant NERF! So part of me wants clarification because you can also affect stats with the "# of powers of a given effect" Advantage... So can you then say that for the +4 total Advantage you would affect all stats and all powers simultaneously? Now that would mean that for a measly 100AP you could have a power that reduces everything on someone's character sheet by 4d6 character points, turning normals into dust and most supers into useless blobs of ink on a piece of paper.
  9. Re: What's with all the points And 20STR. This is obviously a romantisized version of Bruce. I like it mind you, but it's not realistic.
  10. Re: Advantage: "no roll required" Going with GA's suggestion: 12pts Mental Notes: Retrocognitive Clairsentience (Mental Group), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (60 Active Points); Only to Recall Memorized Mental Notes (-2), Retrocognition Only (-1), No Conscious Control (Character Cannot Turn Power On, But Information Is Always Relevant; -1) 0END But since it's really more of a plot device than anything, I'd be tempted to call it a talent and leave it at that. 5pts Mental Notes: Similar to Eidetic Memory, but the player can only recall specific 'notes' which he has left to himself. He may keep up to Int/5 'notes' at the ready. Mechanics wise this means the GM will have to remind the player of any mental notes he set if they are relevant to the situation.
  11. Re: Super Origins Joke Characters. DnD transplants. Anything that should be above the power level we are playing at - i.e. no Gods - avatars of a god is fine, incarnation of a god or of a concept is fine. As long as it doesn't stretch the reality of the situation too far, I'm into it.
  12. Re: The Genesis of +5 = 2x power? p40 of 5ER has a characteristics comparison table and some write up, but it does not mention the 5pt doubling thought at all.
  13. Re: [Campaign] Apocalypse Champions I have sent out the newly revised characters to each of your emails.
  14. Re: [Campaign] Apocalypse Champions Raised from the dead? We'll see next week on Apocalypse Champions!
  15. Re: Cthulhu-esque suggestions? Ever read the rpg Kult? The book gave me nightmares. Tons of nastiness in there.
  16. Re: A tip OIF the hat: How to remove Crowns Well them being destroyed was kind of the point. You know, bring them to the big G_d and let him destroy them while singing nyah-nyah so loud that all of Hell could hear. Made for a great storey reason to switch up the character a bit - radiation accident type of thing. Gabriel gives the Crowns to the Big Man, who rewards him with a soul and sends him back to earth - voila, a much more interesting character to play!
  17. Re: A tip OIF the hat: How to remove Crowns
  18. Re: Cthulhu-esque suggestions? Water = Deep Ones
  19. Re: A tip OIF the hat: How to remove Crowns In our storyline, my character, an incarnation of the archangel Gabriel, ended up taking the Crowns [not the people but the artefacts] up to heaven. Seemed the best 'final' solution after we had gotten them off of their heads. Gabriel ended taking Dark Seraph's head too, but not up to heaven with him.
  20. Re: [Campaign] Champions of Vancouver Bring it on.
  21. Re: What Have You Watched Recently? Firefly the Complete Series and Serenity Very Highly recommend both. Thanks QM! Of course I am watching them while Battlestar Galactica and Heroes are on hiatus. The two best shows on television. I'm proud to say Battlestar is filmed here, and that I and some of my friends are regular extras on it - always fun.
  22. Re: Help Me Populate A Creepy Hotel The Doctor This man is overly tall, with long appendages, and moves very slowly and fluidly, as if moving through heavy water. He has small round spectacles, very thin white hair on top of his large head, and always wears a doctor's white lab coat. He looks at no one, minding his own business until he spies a PC. He'll look at the PC for much longer than would be polite, then nods his head in a knowing manner at the PC, and leaves. He gets into the elevator alone, stopping anyone from entering with a simple hand gesture. The elevator closes but the indicator doesn't show it going anywhere. When it is called back to open, he is gone.
  23. Re: Character: David Dunn Exactly - one has to wonder what his max lift actually is. In my books he could have close to that 25, probably with some Increased END on it.
  24. Re: Character: David Dunn Well at 25STR he can lift 800kg, right? 800 kilogram = 1 763.698 097 479 pounds Is 1763.7lbs too much for him to lift? Could be close... remember LIFT is a whole body lift, not a bench press.
