  1. Re: Champions and Other Manuals You could always buy the PDFs directly from the online store.
  2. Re: Pied Piper effect Do you really need to buy personal immunity to your own mind control?
  3. So, how would you build a Pied Piper type mind control, where they have to hear the music? Mind Control, AoE, no range, affected as other sense group(hearing)?
  4. Re: AGP2 hardback The APG2 (Advanced Player's Guide 2) showed up in my FLNGS a couple weeks ago, but it was a softcover, not a hardcover. So there are some out there. I dunno what an AGP2 is.
  5. Re: Possible HERO System Supplement Kickstarters From Steve -- What Interests You? Of the ones you've listed, probably Dark Hero, and maybe Cyber Hero. Of books not listed, I would definitely kick in $25 for Hero System Vehicles.
  6. Re: Need a name for batlike hero Throw in a little Gilbert & Sullivan, and you get Chiropteretta. The singing bat!
  7. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf? What a twist!
  8. Re: 11 Victoria's Secret models hit the catwalk as superheroines I don't think Edna Mode would approve. "No Capes!"

  10. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?
  11. How would you build a base that you could take down in a couple of minutes, and stuff in the trunk of your car to take to another place? Multiform? Variable location?
  12. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf?
  13. Re: Just saw 6th Edition and got a chance to leaf through it... Let's see, going by what I have on my shelves, for "core books" the shelf frontage for various systems is: Dungeons & Dragons (Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual) Collectors edition (white box) 3/8 in for the books, 1 1/2 in box 1st edition 1 1/2 in 2nd edition 2 1/8 in 3.5 edition 2 1/4 in 4th edition 2 1/8 in Champions/Hero 1st edition (Blue Book) 3/16 in 2nd edition (Grey Book) 1/4 in 3rd edition (Champions) 5/16 in 6th edition (6E1 & 6E2) 2 7/8 in I don't have my 5ed books around, I exiled them to the storage shed when 6ed came out. So we can see that the primary enemy has maintained their core rulebook size fairly constant from 2nd edition onwards, but the latest edition of Hero is 15 times fatter than the first edition. And because they are there: Traveller 1st ed (black box) 1/2 in books 1 5/8 in box Traveller Mongoose (Pocket Rulebook) 1/2 in Hackmaster "4th" ed 4 1/4 in Rifts Ultimate ed 1 1/8 in Shadowrun 4ed 3/4 in Warhammer 40,000 (current edition, whatever the hell number it is) 1 in Warhammer Fantasy (previous edition) 7/8 in
  14. Re: Cheerleader martial arts? In lieu of developing a whole new martial art, take the capeoria moves, give them new cheerleading based names, job's a good 'un. At the heart, they boil down to, kick, strike, sweep, throw, etc. What's the difference between a Karate Kick, (-2 OCV +1 DCV STR +4D6) and a Savate Chasse (-2 OCV +1 DCV STR +4D6)?
  15. Re: THE BOOK OF THE EMPRESS -- What Do *You* Want To See? What, like the Semi-Elemental Plane of Ranch Dressing?
  16. Re: Life Support, Continuing Charges It's not implied, it says so on 6E2 191 "... you don't have to buy a Power that affects all of it (typically a Defense Power or Life Support) ... nor must you buy such powers as Usable on Others"
  17. Re: Just saw 6th Edition and got a chance to leaf through it... My 5ed Sidekick PDF says it's 128 pages, and the 6ed Basic Rulebook PDF is 138 pages. I think DOJ might do well by just giving away the Basic Rulebook for free. "First one is free" and all that. It would help people get over textbook shock if they didn't have to pay for it. And people that bought Champions not knowing it was a supplement could just download the Basic Rulebook and be good to go. Baen books gives away a crap load of free ebooks, and they still sell tons of ebooks and real books.
  18. Re: The Nightmare of Megascale Teleport I think that if you just make sure to play the disadvantages of the moves, it will be self-correcting. Especially that Mega-scale is non-combat movement, so they have to be 1/2 DCV, for a whole extra phase. If villains start holding their actions and coordinating attacks to blast him while he's charging up, he's going to get clobbered a lot more. Also, who/whatever he's grabbed gets to take an action to break out. You don't have to come up with whole new powers, just new tactics. Unless he's got really high STR for grabbing, and really high defenses to take a pounding as well as the teleport power. In that case, what other powers does he have?
  19. Re: Life Support, Continuing Charges That's a good idea. If space rats eat all the salt pork, you can still breath. It's a space sailing ship.
  20. Most of the sample vehicles with life support I've seen have just had plain Life Support, so as long as your vehicle was still working, you had it. I've been considering sailing ships in space that would have limited Air/Food/Water, say 180 days supply for 100 crewmen. So the obvious way to do this seems to be to use continuing charges that last 1 day. For instance: Life Support (Eating: Character does not eat; Safe in Low Pressure/Vacuum; Self-Contained Breathing); 1800 Recoverable Continuing Charges lasting 1 Day each (Recovers Under Limited Circumstances; -0) costs 18 points The limited circumstances are that you have to be at a planet that has breathable air & edible food. Anybody have a problem with doing it that way, or can suggest another way that might work/be better/have more gaming opportunities?
  21. Re: Do opposed skill rolls work? It also depends on the game. In Blackjack, the dealer has the advantage, because ties go to the dealer.
  22. Re: Questions about the Champions 6E core rules book Consarnit is southern-speak. Dagnabbit is old-people speak.
  23. Re: Why do people post power costs on their character sheets? Perzactly. When I'm posting something here, one of the major things I want feedback on is the points cost of various things. I use Hero Designer so I'm unlikely to get then totally wrong, but frequently you can get suggestions to "spend less on A and more on B" that are very helpful.
