  1. Re: Starting versions of Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four I don't really follow the comic that closely, but about his stretchy-form shapeshift power. Does he ever change his actual form to try and hide or anything? He pretty much looks like Reed all the time even when he's all stretched out. I would just say that it's a special effect of whatever other power and skip the shapeshift. I might throw in a 25% energy damage reduction too, just as an effect of "stretching out of the way" and to give him a little more balanced defenses. Oh, and put the DR outside the VPP.
  2. Re: These are small, those are far away... Not that big. The only information one needs is that all the visible planets are in the plane of the ecliptic (the path the Sun and the Moon take), and are really really bright. As Markdoc says, once they've been pointed out a couple of times, they are very obvious. If you can remember where the Sun rises and sets, you know where the plane is. Just scan along the sky from sunrise to sunset. If you can't see them, they're probably not up.
  3. Re: These are small, those are far away... The US military seems to think that small and far away have the same hit modifiers. You can qualify for your Rifle Markmanship badge by shooting at full size targets at various ranges out to 300 yards. Or you can fire at various size targets at a fixed range. 50 yards, IIRC.
  4. Re: 6th ED - play or not to play (and what I need to do it)
  5. Re: Early Firearms Meh. "Banned by the Pope" never stopped any development of truly useful weapons. Airguns are too complex and fragile, and not soldier proof. You can fire fairly quickly. Until the air-reservoir runs down. Then you spend however long pumping it back up again. All those air seals are prone to wearing out and leaking. They just aren't as all around useful as gunpowder weapons.
  6. Re: Super Transportation Nope. They discovered a "really strong metal" that could stand the pressure. Pump all the air out, and it's lighter than air! Cavorite is just stoopid.
  7. Re: How to build the appearance age in 5ER Not everything needs to be a specific power. If it's just part of his Only In Hero ID that he looks a lot younger, then that is just part of his powers. You don't need to pay for the ability to chew bubblegum and walk at the same time. If it doesn't affect the game, it doesn't need to cost points.
  8. Re: Super Transportation Gas Bags? That's for wimps. Real men use Vacuum chambers for lift. See Tarzan at the Earth's Core.
  9. Re: Super School Boogaloo Two: Ripping Off Quidditch Hey, I was going to say 43-man Squamish. But it depends on how many super-students there are, and how many schools are in the league. With lots of students & lots of schools you could have several sports. Super-football for the bricks, Super-Basketball for the more agile ones. Debating Team/Science Fair for the brainy ones. For smaller groups of students you could have a combination sport like full-body contact laser-tag. Set up your Danger Room for an urban/jungle/full howling blizzard environment. Put in a couple of objectives, or just go for last man standing. Of course you'd want lots of cameras for spectators.
  10. Re: Pdf It depends on your resolution/font size. If the screen is big enough that you can display the whole page at once in a readable size, it works fine. If it's not, and you have to scroll up and down and/or side to side, it's a major painski in the buttski. I've got an old small monitor on my desktop so most PDFs I can only display from 75% to 80% of the page and read it. I have to nudge up and down a couple of times per page. It's also a major painksi in the buttski to reflow a whole book so it's not in columns, but the publisher only has to do it once.
  11. Re: Where does it show the price list for Hero system equipment guide.
  12. Re: Second Best Game System ? Superhero 2044. You know you want to.
  13. Re: Extra Large Bases - How to design... [5th Ed Champions] The suggested cost for the Perk "Head of State" is only 10 points (HS1 pg 103). So, like Marcus said, he shouldn't have to pay for the whole island and all its inhabitants.
  14. Re: Newbie to HERO needing advice about world building If you want to see what you're getting into, the PDF for the Basic Rulebook can be purchased from the online store fairly cheaply.
  15. Re: Grimm / Shadowrun / Urban Arcana Worlds - Hero Supplements or How To For Shadowrun, you'll probably want Kazei 5 too. And Urban fantasy Hero has a lot of references to Fantasy Hero as well, IIRC.
  16. Re: So, what's NOT included in the 6th Ed. Basic Rulebook? It's not like they are verboten, they just aren't mentioned. If you have the full rule books, and want to use them or they would work good for a character that one of your players is creating, there is nothing preventing you from just adding them in.
  17. Re: King of the Mountain at DunDraCon So, the Raiders of Elvis' Tomb? Looks like post-apocalyptic or cross-dimensional?
  18. Re: 6E Character Creation any chance of seeing it reprinted anytime soon? If your players are "just browsing", they might be better off with the Basic Rulebook. Or even the Hero in 2 pages PDF that's floating around here somewhere.
  19. Re: Pirate Hero Nope. There is a chapter or two on sailing ships in The Ultimate Vehicle and Hero System Vehicle Sourcebook though.
  20. Re: Pirate Hero Your best bet would probably be using Fantasy Hero, and leaving out the magic spells & dragons. Inclusion of ghosts, zombies, mermaids, etc is up to you.
