I feel as though all the complaints in this thread miss the entire point of the film.  At any rate, it was far less sloppy than TFA.

I used to tell people who asked what I want for Christmas that I don't need anything, just get me a pizza. Now we make one from scratch every year because my wife understands me.

Actually, good lord liaden, being willfully ignorant makes one far worse than an actual moron. A moron usually has some actual physical issue that impairs his cognitive function, be it genetic, injury or disease based. He cannot help his deficient intellect and should not be hated for what he does. A willfully ignorant person is so by choice and thus deserves hatred and contempt.

And this is something everyone should have seen coming decades ago.
 
Now it's probably too late to change course.

The thing is, legally speaking, we've never had a realistic scenario where a POTUS abused the pardon power in order to protect himself and his friends from the consequences of serious misconduct. Obstruction of justice and subornation of perjury are very serious offenses.  
Here, Mueller is coordinating with the NY Attorney General in order to head off this very possibility--he will likely "get" at least one key defendant on both federal and state crimes, and therefore box them into testifying regardless of what Trump does. 
Also, if Manafort is indicted for crimes committed before he began working for Trump, whither the "cover story" for such a pardon?  "I'm pardoning this guy for FARA violations and money laundering just because he's a swell guy"?  It's pretty much an explicit admission of guilt for serious crimes if Trump pardons under those circumstances.  Stick a fork in him for 2020, bare minimum, and if the Dems retake the House and Senate in 2018, I'd expect impeachment inquiries to be opened shortly after the swearing in ceremonies.

In retrospect I think our politics would have been better had Nixon gone to prison and all of his misdeeds fully exposed to public scrutiny. It might have had a stronger deterrent effect upon subsequent administrations(including this one).  It annoys me to no end that the media treats impeachment as the end of the disciplinary process for presidents.  News flash: if a president commits "high crimes and misdemeanors", there's a very strong chance that some of those high crimes are also serious felonies.  It's not only "okay" for presidents, once removed or out of office, to be prosecuted, it's okay for them to be incarcerated too.  It sends the message that no one is above the law in our country.  

Regardless of how much a politician knows or doesn't know, as long as they keep voting "correctly", those big fat checks just keep coming in.

I'm not 100% sure that's a good thing. Maybe what we need is more real, reasonable people on Facebook (twitter can fall in a hole and die) to counter all the BS and misinformation. The Reality Based Community needs all the help it can get. Sometimes it's not easy, and sometimes it seems pointless, but these days it's more important than ever to keep control of the narrative.

I'm not 100% sure that's a good thing. Maybe what we need is more real, reasonable people on Facebook (twitter can fall in a hole and die) to counter all the BS and misinformation. The Reality Based Community needs all the help it can get. Sometimes it's not easy, and sometimes it seems pointless, but these days it's more important than ever to keep control of the narrative.

Funny how all these people with nothing to hide still close the stall when they're taking a dump.

For the first time a kneeldown during the National Anthem has taken place in major league baseball. Oakland A's catcher Bryce Maxwell took a knee before a home game in Oakland Saturday.
 
Maxwell is a military son. He was born on an army base in Germany. He is by no means a superstar, hitting .244 with three homeruns and 21 RBI in 71 major league games this season. And the A's seem to be backing him unequivocally.

In other news, the latest GOP attempt to gut the ACA apparently does not have enough votes to be taken to the Senate floor. This attempt was especially dire, gutting Medicaid itself as well as the exchanges and other features of Obamacare. Since the temporary rule against filibusters ends on the 30th, this may have been the last chance to ram something through in this Congress.

The survivors of Charlottesville have a few things to say about all the false equivalency between the Alt-Right and Antifa.
