  1. Re: Points Equality In my current M&M game I told everyone to simply build to PL 10 and not worry about the point costs. I got back characters ranging from 86 to 211 points. It hasn't caused any problems for us. When we were playing Champs I'd let the players have 280 points plus whatever they rolled on 2d6x10. That gave a range of 300-400 starting points. I've also has players only take 75 points of disads instead of the normal 150. It all depends on the players though. Some are more competitive then others and feel they must crunch every single point or else they can't win [they never learn that no matter how much you point-crunch you can't out-crunch the GM ].
  2. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. That's fine if you want to abort all the time or your character concept is a martial arts type. Otherwise it sucks.
  3. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. I think it's more of an issue with people solely equating the dex characteristic with agility. Dex is, in fact, a combat characteristic determining initiative, ability to hit, ability to defend, and number of actions per turn. Skill bonuses and hand/eye coordination [dex rolls] are really secondary benefits of the characteristic. Some people see Grond and think "how can he be nearly as agile as an Olympic gymnast?" Those are the people who see dex solely as a measure of agility. Other people see Grond and realize the 18 dex is just a measure of combat ability: increased initiative, increased actions per turn, bonuses to attack and to defend from being attacked. The bonus to skills doesn't matter since he has no dex-based skills.
  4. Re: Help me compile a list of character names from Superhero Rpg Products There's also the CU heroes and villains pdfs from the main site that list out most of the characters from the CU. I don't know how long it's been since it was updated but it can speed up your process as well.
  5. Re: Help me compile a list of character names from Superhero Rpg Products You can download an alphabetical list of Freedom City characters from the M&M website. http://64.17.155.164/2e_files/FC-encyclopedia.pdf
  6. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. One of the things I find amusing is that there were more characters in the 4e Eurostar with over 30 dexs then there are in the entire 5e CU.
  7. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. My memory could be wrong but I think Vector and the Living Sphinx are the only two characters in the mainstream CU with a dex higher then 30. That's not very many out of some 350 published characters.
  8. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. Taipan has a 30 [but he has a 12 speed].
  9. Re: DEX levels in your campaign. Which character do you consider to be the Batman clone? I don't remember a character fitting that archetype. In general I do consider many of the characters in Worldwide to be lower then most of the other books. I've found, in general though, that Darren's characters tend to be written to a slightly lower scale then Steve's. Darren uses a lot of 14-18 dexs while Steve tends to use 20 as the minimum [except for bricks].
  10. Re: Your version of the Champions I'd rather have seen 5e go with a new line up of characters that showed the versatility of the system instead of going with a 4e homage team. Out of all the possible archetype choices why pick the same ones as the 4e team? The 4e characters' power builds were really bland from a versatility standpoint and 5e did nothing to fix that. It would have been more interesting to see the 5e champions homage the comics rather then the 4e team.
  11. Re: Get the tomato juice ... I'd call it a cosmetic transform [granting +5 on smell perception rolls against the character] that's reversed by changing clothes and bathing. I might move it up to a minor transform if you want the target to have a -5 on all smell perception rolls too [the smell's stuck in his nose, making it harder form him to smell anything else].
  12. Re: Character help. The character's the half-demon/half-human son of the Edomite. The intent was to create a powerful vessel for the Edomite to inhabit should something happen to his whithered form before he can complete his mission. The demoness was granted a portion of the Edomite's power as payment for mothering the child. She's using that power to set herself up as the Queen of Hell. The character was put into stasis while its body and powers matured. The UNTIL raid freed it before the maturation could be completed [this way you have a logical explanation for why its powers evolve]. Of course the Edomite is the one who informed UNTIL of the location of the Demonhame. The leader of that demonhame was growing bold and attempted to blackmail the Edomite with the destruction of the body. By informing UNTIL the Edomite killed three birds with one stone: He strengthened the hatred of UNTIL throughout DEMON. He removed a rival, no matter how insignificant. He gave his future body the chance to mature on its own [and it's more fun to steal the body of something resisting rather then an unconscious slave]. So you have the Edomite watching the character. The leader of the fallen Demonhame hunting the character for revenge. And the demoness wanting the character to be part of her army as she overtakes her rivals in hell.
  13. Re: FH Gripes 5Er page 415: "Vitals" is defined as any particularly delicate or vulnerable area on the body: this can include the groin, the heart, a large artery, or many other areas. The GM should choose whatever effects is most appropriate for the attack and the situation.
  14. Re: A skeletal CU from 1st Ed Champions Sorry. I thought the purpose of this tread was to throw out ideas that you might not have though of. I'll leave you to your private musings then.

  17. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age The golden age started with the release of Action Comics #1 and the debut of Superman in 1938. That age ended around 1951-52. The silver age began with the Barry Allen Flash and the restructure of DC in 1959 [though many consider the debut of FF #1 in 1961 to be the start]. Most people consider the death of Gwen Stacy in 1973 to be the end of the silver age and the start of the bronze age [this was expanded in 1975 with Giantsize X-Men #1 that introduced the new X-men]. The bronze age lasted until 1986 with Darknight Returns and 1987 with Watchmen. That was the birth of the iron age. The iron age lasted until the mid 1990s. Some say that the Death of Superman in 1993 was one of the last events of the iron age. I consider it to be around 1996 with the transition of Image Comics [image was eventually sold to DC in 1999]. That puts the beginning of the modern age around 1993-1997. At that point killing and death no longer became major focuses of story telling. I see the modern age as lasting until around 2005. Since Identity Crisis, House of M, Infinite Crisis, and Civil war comics have again taken a darker tone with characters dying often all under the banner of supposed realism. This age hasn't been named. I just called it the steel age.
  18. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age Sorry. I didn't mean to push anything off topic. I was just replying to the comment. To add to your list there is: Autumn Arbor Campaign Setting - Modern Age Blood of Heroes - Iron/Modern Age
  19. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age Identity Crisis, House of M, Infinite Crisis and Civil War are actually the foundations of the new iron age [or maybe it should be called the steel age].
  20. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age I'd consider The Algernon Files to be bronze/modern age Freedom City is a silver/bronze age setting. Crooks is definitely a iron/modern age setting. IST is a bronze age setting. Godlike is an iron age setting set during WW2. Likewise Wild Talents is an iron age setting. I'd consider Godsend Agenda to be a bronze/iron age setting. Other settings would include: Aberrent and Brave New World as iron age settings. Blood of Heroes as an iron/modern age setting.
  21. Re: Modern Age vs Silver Age I don't think the silver age is more popular with game companies. I'd consider the CU to be modern age setting with its strong combinations of light and dark. Freedom City is a late silver to early bronze setting [so probably the lightest setting of them all]. I'd consider Empire City and Century Station as modern age as well. There's no doubt Aberrent is an iron aged setting. I think that covers most of the major companies.
  22. Re: Favorite lost villain group After a year with only 1 new CU book [i don't include either Evil Unleashed or the 25th Anniversary Edition as new] I'm happy to see 4 CU books coming out this year. The cure for everyone, whether they want only new material or only updated material, is new CU books.
