  1. Pretty unsurprising WVU game for my Sooners. 52-14 final. Most noteworthy part was the Sooner Conestoga wagon flipped over, which will now be a meme beaten to death with a rock on the internet for all time. Ugh. https://mobile.twitter.com/Nickerjones/status/1185605483777814528
  2. Likely to do my research and vote according to my philosophical and economic value systems. Zero chance I vote for Trump in the general as he's antithetical to both areas and I think he's done a terrible job as POTUS, but I'm in California so that's irrelevant. In the primary, probably Biden. He's pretty moderate, and I'm not loving the race to the left in the primary. I get it, but pandering to the hard core base turns me off. I want a POTUS who will be president of ALL Americans, and this is just partisan red meat. Talk to me about wealth inequity and the working middle class. Our crumbling infrastructure and your plans to address it. Give some attention to homelessness and food insecurity. I want to hear about healing the rifts with our staunchest foreign allies. Heavy focus on race, LGBTQ rights, healthcare, gender issues, and "trump bad" is nice and all, I like those things, but "meh". I'm interested in some better articulation of policy on issues that impact the majority, not interested minority sections of the general population. Do that stuff, sure. But get elected first.
  3. I second Matsumoto, without whom I would never have experienced my first serial episode animated science fiction show based on his work.
  4. 501c3 nonprofit organizations refers to their being exempt from taxes. It's s category that has been stretched to the point of ridiculousness. Kaiser is in part a nonprofit, for crying out loud. Anything that can make a case as to being a benefit to society can probably get the status. Just have to go through the process. Most folks think 501c3 status = charity, but it's just a legal exemption for a corporation from tax payment.
  5. They were inconsistent on defense. Sometimes were very good, other times you had 5 defenders standing around looking lost. Honestly, the score should have been much more lopsided. OU offensively did not have an amazing day. Got the job done though.
  6. Oklahoma beat texas today 34-27. Defense is massively improved, last year this game got Mike Stoops fired. This year's performance is going to get Alex Grinch a raise. 9 sacks. Lord. OU offense was mediocre for a half, then stepped up. CeeDee Lamb is legit, he'll be playing on sundays. 10 receptions, 171 yards, and 3TDs in the RRS is historic. Despite his earlier comments that "he'd be fine" because he had played in Auburn-Bama/Iron Bowl, Jalen looked rattled. Fumble. INT. Poor first half, but he pulled it together and by the end of the second half he was a world beater again. It's an intense rivalry. And the horns down made a significant appearance as soon as they blew the final whistle. Thank God. Such a stupid rule pushed for by charmin-soft texas. Boomer Sooner. I shall now consume the charred carcass of the enemy's mascot. As it should be.
  7. Oklahoma chewed up Texas Tech, as expected. Final was 55-16, good guys. Hurts is crazy good. 483 yards total offense, another 4 TDs, RTG is 250.2 he's got ridiculous stats. Next week is against Kansas, which likely won't make them worse. Fun game today. https://www.espn.com/college-football/recap?gameId=401112117
  8. That may be the most "Mike Leach" way to lose a football game I've ever seen. The man is a national treasure with what he says, but defense is entirely optional.
  9. I loved the original series. Robert Conrad as Jim West, the best villains. Such a cool concept. Would really enjoy a good remake.
  10. Browns are 1-1. Jets are not a good football team.
  11. RIP man. Genuine rock legend, married one of the most beautiful women in the world and it lasted 28 years (they separated in 2018) and together they had 2 sons. He had an amazing life, and I loved his music. Sad he's gone.
  12. 48-14 final. Jalen Hurts is a bad man. Defense continues to improve, still have not faced an elite offense though. At game 3, 25% through the regular season, OU is a legit contender for the conference champ. Maybe the playoffs. It reminds me of what is best in life... Adding the highlight link. In reflecting on it that was definitely Jalen Hurts most complete performance this season. And the Defensive performance while not ideal demonstrates massive improvement over last year. I'll take it.
  13. Feeling cautiously optimistic at the half vs. UCLA. 34-7 Oklahoma. They appear to be showing some growth on defense, and the offense has not lost a beat.
  14. Damn, Temple beat Maryland. Good for them.
  15. Especially reason in my experience. The vast majority of humans make choices based on emotional response, largely in the absence of rational consideration.
  16. Except as a County/municipality they don't have the authority to apply the federal government's definition. Which makes it a statement with no basis in law. They could attempt to seize assets, arrest members, and so forth I suppose. Let's see how that works out.
  17. "I've alerted Trevor. With any luck, military satellites are tracking him now." "And what will we do? Wait for him to... pull the moon from the sky?" "No. We'll ge- ...He hasn't said anything about doing something like that, has he?"
  18. Completely agree. To be fair though, "our local municipality is taking a strong stand with this scathing resolution on something we have absolutely no power to enforce/ change/influence - yay, look at us!" Kind of cuts the other way on my political preferences.
  19. That sounds fantastic. Oklahoma beat South Dakota State University at Owen Field in Norman 70-14, proving absolutely nothing. UCLA, the Sooners next opponent, lost to San Diego State University (after losing to Cincinnati last week). I'm planning to go to the OU-UCLA game next week. Crossing my fingers.
  20. I don't like the NRA, but it hurts my head to see local government elected officials creating a County-level domestic terrorism list. "This is why we can't have nice things"
  21. Probably too soon, Oregon lost on a last second play against a P5 nonconference team in their season opener. There are some early warning signs, but hard to say how the season will play out in the Pac 12. Wouldn't say they are the front runners but nothing over yet. If you lose, lose early in a close game.
  22. I apologize, clearly I'm not at mid season form having missed an opportunity to express my disdain for the whorns. ... better?
  23. Jalen Hurts is on pace to be 15-0 with 7,620 yards and 90 touchdowns. 😉 Sorry, earlier post wasn't homer enough. People might wonder if I really posted it.
