  1. Nope, this is not about the generics.  This was actually about a Universal Translator device, whether it should be divided into two (One for the reading, one for the speaking, or just one as the earpiece does speech, while the HUD display does the written)...but more to the point was that the thought regarding the one led me down a rabbit hole and curiosity about how others viewed it

They did a Teen Titans book, Year One I think (can look it up later). I'd say they were more 12-13 when the Teen Titans started, around 17-18 when New Teen Titans started. Wally is in college at the start so they don't say first or second year.

And they've screwed up Wally so much in the last 10 year and Donna in the last 20-25 (sighs)

Was about to stand up for Donna, When I realized that the one I liked started in the early 90's (early Troia) and would agree with almost everything that happened after the whole her son was evil storyline...Then again that whole era was kind of bad

  3. So working on some stuff, and got to thinking about this: How detailed do you like your write ups?  Do you want every single thing written up, with every single limitation, or do you prefer "simple" builds that get close enough

    As an example

    Electrical Blast: 12d6

    or

    Electrical Blast 6d6

+6d6 not vs grounded (flying, etc...) (-1)

+6d6 vs conductive (standing in water, etc...) -2

This limitation is one that is designed more for heroic campaigns where the characters are not paying points for equipment.   So Iron Man would not be using it. But If the GM is building a starship that you can hook up electrical devices to power or recharge it may be appropriate.

Not every power or limitation are appropriate for every campaign.

My issue with that is if you are not paying points for it does it really need a limitation value...

The Green Lantern Corp is one of my favorite concepts from DC comics, so glad to hear you've got something in that vein going. I've checked out your site, and I'll admit ,the generic heroes are wonderful for the GM and crew who has a shortage time so keep up the good  work!

Thank you for the kind words.  The Generics will be getting one new member (Bendy, as all their names need to start with "B") and I might make the hdc files available via Hall of Champions ($1-2 for all of them).

As for the Star Knights, I feel like I would be misleading to not point out that the GLC is more about their niche, the heavy lifting on the inspiration is an old comic from the 90's called Darkstars, the Arthurian legends, and a touch of Space Ghost

  6. Hey, letting you guys know...I finally have started working on my second supplement.  A guide to Centurion Earth's equivalent to the GLC or Nova Corps, The Star Knights.  it will focus on the team on Earth but provide some guidelines for non earth based groups.

    Character Sheets planned

    1. Star Knight Jolith

    2. Squire Dr. Plim

    3. Squire Janet Wu

    4. Squire Jason (Last name pending)

    5. Star Knight Cruiser

    6. Star Knight Computer

    7. Safety Bubble & Computer

    8. Cruiser Drones w/ packages

All based on a pic from Champions 4th edition that inspired Jolith...

Robin does save Batmans ass a couple of times though. So buying him as a dnpc would be cheating.

Basically any players who insist on giving their dnpc's weapons or gear and having them travel with them are probably powergamers and min maxers.

Not sure I agree with that.  I think it comes down to the following

Does the character need to be saved (or otherwise complicate The heroes life) a lot more often than they help if so DNPC (Lois Lane, Aunt May, sometimes Robin)

Does Character provide useful information or resources but for the most part stay out of things?  Contact (Jim Gordon, Alfred, Oracle)

Help the character "in the field" (Robin, Nightwing, etc...)

  8. The Following is from reading 6th edition and Champions Complete

Having a hard time wrapping my mind around this limitation

Conceptually I get it, but mechanically I do not see how this is EVER limiting

See, the way END reserve works is that you select powers that CAN use it, this limitation says "These powers can not use it", which of course is already done by not selecting them. So Iron Man says "Restrictive Use: only tech powers"...gee whiz all my powers are tech...No real limitation.

An argument COULD be made that he can use his arc reactor to power the toaster, but as he has no transform bread power, the Toaster already cannot be powered....

Seems like a "No real way to be used limitation"\

But JmOz it is for Sci Fi settings and such to represent the engine on the ship...Ok, did you spend points on it in the first place?  No real point for the limitation then

  9. As said, yes it is a penalty on faster characters.  This is to help balance the advantage they get for their speed (Speed is often underestimated by new players).  As said you can "slow" yourself down.  You can also use the advantage Reduced Endurance.  Also realize that the effect does remain without the continuous endurance cost for a little bit (depending on how well you rolled)...

  10. At the time (Early to mid 80's) GL's defenses were a turn on aura type of deal usually (at least for the majority of the defenses).  Hal has always been a bit full of himself so I could see him thinking "Ohh it's just the kid"...

I like it. Got that whole 'advanced civilization takes on archaic  stylings' that works pretty well in space opera and comic books

Exactly what I was going for, SKS stands for Star Knight Squire, group of 3 on earth (Plus a full fledged Knight)

If the energy shield is based off the device on her forearm, you might want to shift that energy field a bit up and to the right (if that's possible - I don't know if the energy effects are on a different layer than the rest of the pic).  If it's based on her hand, it's fine as-is.  To be honest, it's probably fine as-is.  I'm probably just being too picky.

RE Shield, yup already noticed and moved over.  Also added a "Gauntlet" to the sword arm and darkened the boots

Regarding guidelines: A piece of advice I got many years ago was that all the characters Speed scores should vary by no more than 3.

So if the slowest PC has a 4, the fastest should be limited to 7.  If the slowest is a 5, then go to 8.  This does not apply to enemies.

The reasoning (and I've found it sound) is that if you have PCs with speeds much further apart than that it can create a lot of frustration at the table when someone has to wait for the people around them to go twice before they go again.

I once saw a player convince the GM to let them play a speed 10 time manipulation guy & then had the rest of the table rebel when it felt like they spent most of their time waiting for time guy to roll all his attacks before their speed 5 characters could go again.  It was mechanically valid, and the DCs Time Guy had made it not terribly over powered, it just wasn't fun.

I basically do this, but tighten/expand based on points.  3 in low powered, 4 up to High powered, 5 above that.  Thinking about it, it really seems to come down to (for me) x2 the slowest.  In low powered games the slowest will be 3, in standard/high the lowest will be 4....
