It will likely take years to reach SCOTOS.  That is if it ever does.  However, being decided by a lesser court is still being decided by a court.

Paul is right.  It is an executive action.  If you look at the legislative tracker given by the your link, it list the bills status as being "Introduced".  It hasn't even been voted on, much less passed by the House and the Senate. So, Biden may have used this bill as the template for his executive action, but that doesn't make it a law.

As for whether or not the executive action is unconstitutional, that is for the courts to decide.

Sometimes I despair of people, and sometimes I despair of the culture.  Is the guy stupid, or is he simply caught up in the trap of lies that others spread presumably to promote their agenda?

I agree with the social media issue...which is why what Musk is doing is so problematic...but it's not limited to social media.  It's simply the most reactive echo chamber...seed a few juicy, explosive tidbits, and sit back to watch the hyperexponential growth you're aiming for...which creates buzz off social media, and establishes a self-perpetuating 'truth.'

I've said it before.  Mainstream and social media manipulators declared a war on truth a long time ago...and they've won.  They've established an alternate concept of reality wherein they're the lords of judgment.  They create the lens through which facts are viewed.  So to what degree is your co-worker foolish, versus a victim?

EDIT:  nasty tangent.  If you question how a Putin can keep the Russian people toeing his line...well, just look at how effective Fox News is, with their followers...despite the presence of numerous alternatives.

Been catching up on Stargirl. Another reason for hating the takeover from Nextar of the WB brand. Stargirl has remained really good, to me at least. It has retained that hopefulness we saw in the earlier Supergirl series and apparently two of the last season episodes (before they realized they were making their last season, so might not have wasted the episodes) were setting up an Infinity Inc. series with Jade, Obsidian and Sand as members and The Shade on his redemption run mentoring them. but alas, not to be.

Boebert maybe, but I suspect Greene is only playing dumb. What clinched it for me was the "peach tree dishes." To me that sounds too on the nose, too calculated a mistake. An impersonation of ignorance and stupidity. And right on cue, mainstream media pounced on her and mocked her for it... and right on cue, the Republican base sent Greene more gobs of money. I am told she's the GOP's top fundraiser.

Fear Marjorie Taylor Greene. If I'm right, she has the chops to make it into the ruling junta of Fascist America, and maybe even win the Game of Thrones. Playing dumb can be a powerful gambit.

It depends on your definition of common.  A sizable majority of Americans have barely any awareness that a world outside of the US borders exist much less that our government might be heavily involved out there.  Of those that are more political aware, maybe half are familiar with our nations history of meddling with other countries' internal politics and maybe a third of those see it as an ongoing problem.

As for the impeachment in Peru, I would bet money that we had nothing to do with it.  Peru just doesn't have or make anything that we care about enough to orchestrate a change of government over it.

I know there has been a contingent on the Far Left that believes the CIA and the oil companies conspire to cause every evil thing in the world, but I could not venture a guess how large a contingent it is. I prefer not to guess; I want data.

I would agree that the exaggerated view of American influence is subtly narcissistic, in that it presents the rest of the world as helpless and clueless to resist America's malignant power.

I presume the US tries to influence policy in other countries, whether allied, hostile, or neutral, through both regular diplomatic channels and covertly. I presume other governments do the same, from Israel lobbying Congress to Russian troll farms. And I don't see anything wrong with that, in the same way that I don't see anything wrong with the danger of infections or falling heavy objects: They are facts of existence, one should take reasonable precautions to avoid being harmed by them, but being upset by them is pointless.

I could wish the US government were better at such meddling, as the well known cases tend to be train-wreck failures or have been ultimately disastrous for the countries involved and, in the longer term, for the US itself. "Better" both in terms of competence and choice of goals. Of course, the most successful intervention would never be known to the public.

I would rarely if ever say I am "proud" of the US, but I do quite like that it is doing so much to help Ukraine against Russia, and so effectively. I am also pleased that it does not act alone in this. I approve the purpose; I approve the methods (to the extent that I know them); and I think it will benefit the US, its democratic allies, and -- in the long run -- humanity as a whole.

Britney Griner has been released in a prisoner exchange.  The same exchange they had been working on for a while now (arms dealer who had served about 14.5 years of a 25 year sentence), but reduced down to only Griner.

I can only imagine the relief for both Griner, her wife, and family.

Right after a midterm election, the people who lost have nothing more to lose. The people who won election or reelection have their seats guaranteed, and figure the public will forget whatever they do now before the next one. So they have a grace period to vote as they want.

Sounds good. And speaking of one bit you brought up... I am so tired of "Chosen Ones." I prefer my heroes to be fighting the good fight because somebody has to, not because it's their Destiny.

I crystallized this view several years ago while watching the Shannara TV series that aired (only one season AFAIK) on MTV. Okay, not a fan of The Sword of Shannara and never felt any reason to read the sequels, but somebody was trying to do Fantasy on TV so I watched it. And I got really irritated by Alanon the druid telling the young hero that it's his Destiny to fight the demon horde and save the world, because he's descended from the last great hero and so is the only person who can activate the power of the Elfstones, yadda yadda yadda.

Especially when the material was there for a different approach. Untested Young Hero doesn't want to save the world; he wants to be a doctor, because his mother suffered so much in her final illness. I think the line should have been: "You're probably not the only descendant of Shannara. If I tried, I could probably find a dozen others. But you responded to suffering and grief by wanting to help others. That's special. Other people could use the magic pebbles. You're the one who should use them."

As I said, I find it plausible that the strike was an accident. OTOH Putin must not be allowed to think he can make this the start of a nose-in-the-tent strategy. There must be consequences. But I do not envy the people who must decide what those consequences should be.
