  1. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER In about a week and a half there'll be a nice total lunar eclipse. It's invisible from Europe and Africa. The Pacific, Australia, the Americas and the eastern parts of Asia can see it. Photo opportunity?
  2. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Science and the Muslim world, by a Pakistani physicist.
  3. Re: Complicate the Person Above Bazza was offered the position of Field Marshal in the Royal Bdwdslpgian Army, but turned it down. Turns out there's only two ranks in that army, and Desk Marshal outranks Field Marshal.
  4. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Amusing outtake from a Seattle Mariners fanblog: Context: all season long, this guy has been calling Vidro a lard-a$$ed beached whale. This particular sentence follows seven hyperbolic paragraphs about how Ho Ramirez sucks green slimy rocks from the bottom of a cesspool through fifteen feet of catheter tubing.
  5. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Repeated, emotional, non-ironic proclamations of how great Liefeld is as an artist.
  6. Re: Seven Wonders of the Totalitarian World
  7. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat A grand game of cutthroat Parcheesi.
  8. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Way too cool.
  9. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat The vile Cult of the Giant Lizard, of course.
  10. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "This is a testament to the power of outrage against those who defame Gillian Anderson, and of the creature who harnessed that power to the uttermost limits of human experience."
  11. Re: Answers & Questions Q: I put your eyes out, but you disemboweled me and I've got mere seconds to live. What will you do next, foul fiend? A: Statistically, you are so hosed.
  12. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat Q: "Sir, get out of the car slowly, keep your hands up and in sight, and leave the neutrinos in the seat. We don't any arrests for assault with a deadly lepton." NT: Unpleasant consequences after the undead are given the right to vote.
  13. Re: Answers & Questions Q: No, you MAY NOT use the chainsaw to cut up the tofu any more! Got that? A: Do that again, and the chef is likely to spike your dinner with cyanide.
  14. Re: Seven Wonders of the Totalitarian World I drive past this every month or two; I used to live about a 20-minute walk from it. It is tolerated, I think, because of the delicious irony. And it's very cool. I have no idea how many drunken urinations occur against it every weekend, but considering the location, the number must be nontrivial.
  15. Re: Complicate the Person Above Keyes_bill holds two jobs: IT support in the pron industry by day, hard-rock linguine miner by night. What keeps him going? his vision of X-rated pasta for the millions.
  16. Re: The Last Word That only happens here up in the mountains. And even then, in late summer and fall. That's when you get the largest number of folks hiking the glaciers and falling in crevasses.
  17. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Like an ill-digested chiliburger, I rise again!
  18. Re: Musings on Random Musings I may have to change a character sheet because of this. In the last few days I've worked up a brick character who is a magically-"uplifted" orangutan. His quote had been, "'Ook.' There. Ya happy?" But this seems much better, especially with the other aspects I have imagined for his personality. Durn. Can't rep ya yet.
  19. Re: The Last Word It gets cold there, I mean, genuine cold. Here it gets yucky, but the amount of actual sub-freezing temperatures are limited, so the not so much cold gear is needed.
  20. Re: Limited STR: Only for Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, etc Y'know, this sort of thing (in a cast-upon-others form) would be the delight of slave-owners everywhere in a fantasy universe. You get 25 STR worth of work out of someone literally up to the point they keel over and die of starvation, and you don't have to worry about STR 25 slaves deciding to do an armed revolt.
  21. Re: The Last Word Then I have no explanation for the locale difference. Ordinarily I wouldn't really care, but given I have a 10-year-old daughter, this is soon to matter much more than before.
