The old open cluster M67. I spent a few hours looking at this back in my grad school nights...
This is the cluster which my avatar is trying to represent, though the avatar is just a cut-down version of the very center of the cluster core. The fuller version (still of the cluster core) is here.
And ... the artificial image doesn't go anywhere near as "deep" as the "real" image (because the artificial image is from a list of measured star positions & brightnesses, and that source only listed things they could measure well, which means a couple of variable stars also are left out). The artificial image is rotated by about 90 degrees CCW with respect to the real cluster image as presented (that "real" image seems to be north-right east-up), and the "real" image looks to be presented with enhanced color (the reds redder, blues bluer than they should be).
