  1. Re: Musings on Random Musings One cat we had brought home live snakes. Self-animated rope, whee!!
  2. Re: Musings on Random Musings More generally, cats love piles of anything; the more disordered, the better. I walked into the bathroom last night and found the kittens had discovered sometime earlier that day that the toilet paper could be unrolled. So it had been, the whole roll.
  3. Re: Woah, alot of users on this board If you click on "Currently active users" from the board's front page, you can get a list of who's on. Lots of spiders....
  4. Re: "Neat" Pictures The old open cluster M67. I spent a few hours looking at this back in my grad school nights... This is the cluster which my avatar is trying to represent, though the avatar is just a cut-down version of the very center of the cluster core. The fuller version (still of the cluster core) is here. And ... the artificial image doesn't go anywhere near as "deep" as the "real" image (because the artificial image is from a list of measured star positions & brightnesses, and that source only listed things they could measure well, which means a couple of variable stars also are left out). The artificial image is rotated by about 90 degrees CCW with respect to the real cluster image as presented (that "real" image seems to be north-right east-up), and the "real" image looks to be presented with enhanced color (the reds redder, blues bluer than they should be).
  5. Re: A Thread for Random Musings This thread just cracked 100,000 views.
  6. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER ... And we're going to make ourselves unpopular. Time to wean the kittens. Which entails locking momcat in a different room for a day at least.
  7. Re: The Last Word Snicker. Classes start the last Wednesday of September. Given that some people don't show up for a few days after that, and then the rains here typically start the middle of October, that leaves only a rather narrow time window for stuff-strutting.
  8. Re: Soundtracks? We've got a couple of GMs in our group who assemble collage disks for their campaigns. In fact, in a couple such, part of the character generation process includes the player picking one or more theme songs for their character, which end up going on the campaign's "soundtrack" compilation disk.
  9. Re: A Thread for Random Musings Hmm, split ends in my beard. Time to schedule an appointment.
  10. Re: The Last Word Well, here that happens in middle of May, at earliest. We're on the quarter system, so there's about 3 weeks left to the school year at that point. If it was a typical semester system schedule, then it wouldn't happen in most years.
  11. Re: The Last Word Oh, they have them, but the display isn't any more flagrant than on campus late in the first warm, sunny week in spring.
  12. Re: The Last Word "Boobie festival?"
  13. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "Keep making the fat cats even fatter" -- anyone from the GOP
  14. Re: The Last Word * bites tongue and changes the subject * Going to the Ren Faire this weekend. Third year running.
  15. Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat "Hey Rudy G, you can take your East Coast Mafia connections, your Wall Street bucks, your Fox News mouthpieces, and your three-piece suit and stick 'em where the sun don't shine."
  16. Re: The Last Word Heh. Wasn't talking about moves not being moves; I meant moves not being travel.
  17. Re: The Last Word Depends on how far you've moved. Just across town (or across state) doesn't really make it in terms of travel.
  18. Re: Answers & Questions Q: The Mantis Queen wants to know if humans are like her kind, and the sex gets better when you bite off your partner's head. You know, the one with the eyes, mouth, nose, AND brains. A: We won't be looking to pick up women on THIS planet.
  19. Re: The Last Word For whatever reason, I think because I moved so much when I was young, travel isn't all that high on my list. Part of it is that post-2001 I find air travel almost intolerable, but that's only part of it.
  20. Re: The Last Word Heh. Someday I'll get back to Europe. Not soon, though. Our first big trip as a family in a long time will be to Florida in December.
  21. Re: Paralysis Ray: Would you allow this? I might allow the power as written, but the character who had it would find himself hounded by an army of automatons against which the power would be worthless.
  22. Re: The Last Word I see the merits in that idea, but that'd require more bookshelf space than I have at the moment.
  23. Re: Answers & Questions Q: So when the quartermasters delivered the rations to the Orc army, the Orcs thought they were part of the shipment and ate them?!? A: Spider guts doesn't seem like a syrup flavor that'd catch on very big.
