  1. Kansas City man had no idea 3 friends were dead in his backyard
  2. I was pulling for a Lions-Bills Super Bowl but I guess it wasn't to be. Not sure either game next week will be interesting in and of themselves, but a SB with either SF or Detroit will at least be a change of pace.
  3. I'd take the Ravens at -3.5 no question. Their running game has been unstoppable even aside from Lamar. Likewise their pass rush. Detroit's problem is going to be CMC. I don't think they've had to face a rushing attack like that all season.
  4. It's my fault. I was thinking wow, the Bills actually haven't made any mistakes for once. My bad.
  5. I tried yoga once. I barely managed to finish the session, and I had to lie there for fifteen minutes after the session before I could stand. It was humbling. The pandemic hit a week later, providing me with the perfect excuse to not go back.
  6. Cancer loves the administrative stuff! He talks about it all the time.
  7. I was not expecting Bucs @ Lions to be a defensive slugfest.
  8. If we ditch the European requirement, central Asia is an outstanding source of inspiration. I have a history of central Asia that reads exactly like a fantasy novel with intrigues, wars, dynasties, and entire civilizations that no Ur-Murrikan has ever heard of. Largely because they were erased by the Mongols, and later the Russians.
  9. Then again, the players I've played with tend to be more along the lines of "My character is a mercenary. With an axe."
  10. Ultron might be the better comparison. This is what happens when you let your AI look at the internet.
  11. Yeah that missed FG earlier was crucial too.
  12. It’s true, I have two of them. You can also forget about reading and writing cursive.
  13. JFC that video is an hour long, what is the tl;dw?
  14. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton (2018) The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller (2020) The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson (2020) The Sixth World's End by Naomi Novik (2020) Aaron Allston's Strike Force (2016) by Aaron Allston and Michael Surbrook
  15. Looks like Hiram wielded a punt gun in Tremors 4 (which was a prequel to the trilogy).
  16. Rumors that the James Webb telescope has detected signs of alien life on K2-18b are still only rumors but at the same time there is no known nonbiological process that would produce that much dimethyl sulfide
  17. The Paper Menagerie (2015) by Ken Liu. (I have read this and I highly recommend it) Pachinko (2017) by Min Jin Lee Project Hail Mary (2021) by Andy Weir
  18. Echo on Disney+ got a lot better in Episodes 4 and 5 as it finally started to address the interpersonal (and intrapersonal) conflicts set up in the previous episodes (and the Hawkeye series). I'd rate it as average for an MCU series, which would make it above average viewing in general. The portrayal of Choctaw culture really gives this series a boost, but it could have used a shot of Hawkeye-level humor. Don't forget to stick around for the mid-credits scene after Episode 5.
  19. Wrong! The other best setting is 5th century Europe: Arthurian myth Attila the Hun Fall of the Roman Empire Continued Existence of the Byzantine Empire Conquests by the Merovingian kings leading to the founding of France Founding of the Kingdom of Italy Vandals and Visigoths Anglo-Saxon migration into England Celts in Ireland and Scotland (and Christianization thereof) Still no Vikings although there was plenty of raiding going on in and around Scandinavia This Europe is quite a bit darker, even postapoc from a Roman perspective. It lends itself to a more sword-and-sorcery type of campaign as various barbarian tribes fight over the scraps of the Roman Empire while its knowledge and secrets are lost to the ages.
  20. 12th century Europe is the way: Byzantine Empire Castile, Aragon, and Moorish Spain Knights Templar Second and Third Crusades Genghis Khan Silk Road Merchant Republics of Italy English civil wars and wars with France Holy Roman Empire Teutonic Knights Decline of Kievan Rus Seljuq Empire About the only thing 12th century Europe doesn't have is Vikings, but you could probably squeeze them in and no one would know any better.
