  1. Re: Teleportation with variable range... Oh damn, you just blew my mind. I love it. See, that's something (the choosing a target twice as far away as actually desired) that I wish I thought of. But, as a GM, I would nod as the player attempted it, and then explain that when they ended up only half way to where they wanted to be, it's because they WANTED to go to X, not 2 TIMES X. Edit: I've tried Googling and such, but I can't seem to find the answer. I see frequent references to "the palindromedary," but I have no clue what this is. Can someone enlighten me?
  2. Re: Cities of the Future *Bows before the Mutant for hire*
  3. Re: The Blood Can anyone tell me what exactly the Blood is? As an organization?
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I finally just reading all 88 pages of this. I owe rep to at least 3 different people over pages 80-86. Wow. Can't wait to update this with some stuff I've had happen. Just need to refresh my memory. In the meantime.... *BUMP*
  5. Re: Teleportation with variable range... Interesting. What is "Zeno" though? How many paradoxes did this guy have? I LOVE paradoxes.
  6. I was remembering a Forgotten Realms book I had read, in which the characters travel to one of the Abyssal planes. One comments that since the plane is infinite it would be impossible to reach a destination since any locations would be an infinite distance apart. At first I was just really frustrated by this completely illogical statement, because it is patently false. Once you have established something at a point, it will always be at that point. So, once you have two locations on this plane, they are a known, constant distance apart. It could be two miles or it could be two billion, but it will never be infinite. Anyway, I was wondering, what if a party hit a "two billion" destination situation. Depending on the genre and points level, no one might have a teleport strong enough to making traveling that distance practical. So, I was wondering about having a teleport that's only range was "Cuts distance in half," i.e. each time you use it, you travel half the distance to the target. Multiple leaps of this would get you fairly close, but you would always have to do the final walking. It seems pretty powerful, but it could also be pretty inconvienient. How would you build this? Does it seem viable?
  7. Re: Social Class name help Since they are without rights........ The Wrong, or the Lefts.........
  8. Re: Vulcan Nerve Pinch Ah, but this is a Heroic campaign, not champions. How about a transform? Slap on a few limits, and I think it could be reasonably priced.
  9. Re: Mind Control question I dunno, I would think maybe Spidey would buy him some flowers and take him to a nice restraunt, and after dinner perhaps go for an intimate walk on Staten Island where they can both admire the Statue of Liberty lit up during the night...
  10. Re: Help Me Populate a Race Ok........ Curufea...... you are getting reped for that. Eggs that require laying? Wow. "Come on Mr. Giant Lizard.......... lay that gaking egg for daddy!"
  11. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! No, no it was a very good example. I specfically remember the part of it that banned the use of atomics. Katrina was still a ho-bag.

Re: Starships What else is there really besides work to live in our modern world?
  13. Re: Variable Power Pools Thnx Oddhat. And everyone else. I now see the light.
  14. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! Also, I recommend some of John Ringo's novels of humanity vs. the Polseen. Seriously good sci-fi. Epic battles. And humanity shows everyone else in the galaxy that when I member of the 555th Armored Combat Suits is talking, you need to sit quietly in the corner until he's done. "Gust Front," "A Hymn Before Battle," several others. I heartily recommend them. They take on a sort of..... rushed feel later, but I hope he will pull back from that. Oh! Plot hook! How about........ the ICP isn't what it seems to be. Long ago, some truly DEVIOUS race created a myth of it and used it to "pacify" some other races, and has been perpetuating the lie to control all known life in the galaxy. However, every now and again, there are certain races that don't quite the brainwashing/mind-control, and have to be carefully controlled. They thought they had humans under their thumbs. Little did they realize that that is just the first place humanity will sink its teeth into when it discovers its oppressors.
  15. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! Ah..... Battletech. Katrina Steiner was such a ho. Please tell me she got killed for her constant scheming. As you can tell,I was quite involved till I suddnely stopped reading it. What WAS the Ares Convention again?
  16. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! Yeah, but I might undergo some sort of transformation once I leave my planet. Maybe something awful happens to me, and I become a psychotic murderer, take over a ship, and become a pirate. Yar. And to be honest, that sounds like a really sucky universe. I mean..... how can you even have a story? Where's the room for conflict, except against this totalitarian regime?
  17. Re: WWYCD: think of the children I'm sorry! I'm as excited as a French School Girl! With each separate word capitalized! SURE you are............. *wink wink*
  18. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! Actually, it can be. It depends on what sort of weighing mechanism they use to evaluate the results of their values. For instance, if they favored a more..... mathemateical means of telling a "right" action from a "wrong" action, then they could justify slaughtering humanity by calculating that the temporary and minor death of 6 billion is far outweighed by the future deaths that would be caused when humanity came to the stars. Thus, it is more right to kill in this case. However, these sorts of value systems are usually extremely awkward and don't last too long.
  19. Re: WWYCD: think of the children I meant if they SCREWED up. You know, get our orders mixed up. I mean, how many people order 47 yards of Kevlar? But yes, I would do some minor, property destroying crimes. Oh, and I would show up at his crime scenes as soon after him as possible (only if I got there before police) and ROB the people he killed. In the mock-up armor. Bet that would get his attention. Please, I would be very interested in hearing an explanation of how some stuff like this might actually be made in real life. I'm a dork over this kind of stuff.
  20. Re: [Campaign Log] Sophia's Barbarians *Bump* And then what happened?
  21. Re: WWYCD: think of the children Can you go into some detail about this "Real Armor?" I find it intriguing. Ok, well, since apparently I couldn't steal or bribe for the security tapes...... I would use what I know about the armor to have myself a near identical suit crafted, using the DuPont Industries as my supplier. Then, I would commit some minor (but publicized) crimes, and hope the person finds me. Who knows? I might even get lucky and DuPont would deliver his order to me, and then I would have his name..... hehe.
  22. Re: Exodus 2025: A campaign idea looking for input! Only problem with a virus is the risk that humanity will just nurse its anger until it can get its sweet, sweet revenge. Not that that's a problem from the perspective of the humans.
  23. Re: If I were an Evil Overlord.... ^ That's the spirit!
  24. Re: Final Sanity Rules I don't mind going crazy. But, I don't want my character to become ineffective. Then he wouldn't be any fun to play. Because I couldn't DO anything. That's how I MIGHT feel.
  25. Re: WWYCD: think of the children I might get whoever I could (even if it was just tabloids) to publish as loudly and obnoxiously as possible about other activites that this person has been up to (bank robberies, assaults, etc) that were completely trumped up. See if it takes bait to either stop the lies, or find out if someone is using his name as a cloak...\ Also, have his earlier driving and shooting demonstrations indicated any skill with vehicular tactics and maneuvers, or with long range weaponry etc? Also, has his earlier driving and shooting demonstrated any remarkable level of skill? Professional cornering, good shifting, long range accuracy, etc? 1) Haha, but what about significant cases that didn't make it to the conviction level? 2) Seemingly random. I check into it in more detail. Also, any women offenders yet? 3) I would go to all the K-Wals within and near the established range of his activities. Acquire the security tapes near the gun counters, and look for repeat faces between them buying that kind of ammo. Investigate those faces. What sort of material is needed to make these home-made grenades? I would investigate those as well. Similar manner, if possible. Who sells batteries for these batons? Sounds like he might be need a lot of those batteries, if not the batons themselves. Look into that. Hope they aren't rechargable, or at least easily hehe. Also, I would look into camping supply and guitar stores, and use the suspect faces from my earlier investigations to see if any of those people made appearences there. 4) See who is buying large quanties of that resin, cross-checking it with previous suspects I have already formed. Also, I would attempt to investigate the DuPont Industries line. Even if I couldn't find out who was buying it, if I could find out where the shipments were coming in, I could track those...
