I have a question regarding Lingering in FH p.267.
I'm having a really hard time understanding why I would ever use this.
I've had several others try to explain it, but I'm either being thick or missing some piece of information.
The way I see it currently is that you would apply it to something like a HKA, and it would keep that power "on" until the lingering period ended. However, when you use the HKA you still spend END. Why wouldn't I just recast the spell when I wanted to use it? I don't see the advantage that Lingering gives me.
The GM mentioned using it for a VPP in the situation where you can only have a max of 50 Active Points worth of spells you cast 2 25 point spells with lingering and then you can cast other spells. But if the GM decides not to use that rule, I don't see how Lingering is useful.
The other example was, a "Fire Whip". You cast the Fire Whip spell that has lingering for 2 minutes and it is available during that time to attack with, but you are still going to spend the END each time it is used, so wouldn't that be more of a special effect to be holding a fire whip in your hands and basically recasting the spell when you wanted to do damage?
Help... I'm confused.
